Walton Rumor Still Alive

Eric Pincus is reporting that the Luke Walton, Marcus Banks trade is still very much a posibility.

The rumor first reported here at Hoopsworld.com has the Boston Celtics sending Marcus Banks and Yogi Stewart to the Lakers for Luke Walton and Devean George is still alive. It's also possible that a smaller deal could go down without George and Stewart. The key to any deal with Boston is Gary Payton reporting to camp. The Celtics keep putting out optimistic messages to the media assuring that they expect Payton in camp. Word from Gary's agent says otherwise and brands any assumptions "incorrect."...

Until Payton reports and commits to the season, it's just talk. Some speculation suggests Gary will show up long enough to demand a trade. He won't make waves as the season starts with the understanding that well before the deadline he'll be moved. If that's the case, the Celtics will not part with Banks.
