The last game of the trip. We’ll see early who wants to play and
who wants to get on the plane to Boston. Of course Doc will play
both Delonte and Wally to the detriment of their health and the the team.

Expect the Celtics to lose by a large margin. They haven’t had time to practice with the new old ball. Should make for an interesting game. PS FIRE DOC!

true, tonight us if some of these young guys have some fight in them…it’s one of those situations were they could stay in a game 3 quarters and come out tired late in the game and start getting in to foul trouble

If Rondo doesn’t start tonight, then Doc needs to fly to Orlando when the rest of the team flies back to Boston. There are NO excuses left.

Randolph/Jefferson match up should be interesting, I can’t believe I am saying this but I like the C’s chances tonight.

I think the Celts win big tonight. They can run on Portland. They’ll be loose, the trip is blown anyway and they’re heading home.
Our franchise is in deep trouble. We supposedly have ‘deep depth’ but nobody steps up at all when we’re shorthanded. We have consistently overrated the talent on this club.
Thanksdad Grousbeck can’t let this go on. We’re not making any progress. The G$ talk makes me laugh. If it turns out he was untouchable in an AI deal Danny should be sent off on an ice floe.

Young players often develop slowly, especially when moving from high school to the professional ranks. Likewise, team chemistry takes time. I admire the fact that the owners have invested as they have and can still exercise patience. We all want to win. It will take time!

i’ve been a big advocate for perk since day one.
i now realize that no matter how hard he works, no matter how much he wants it, perk doesn’t have the timing to be a good rebounder. he is a good defender and a intimidating presence but his numbers just haven’t improved.
we need a solid defender in the post to compliment jefferson. but perks not the guy.
an athlete like gadzurik or gerald wallace would be just the ticket. tyrus thomas would be a nice steal.
i think its time to package perk before the rest of the league catches on.

Quick question: Why when Danny was interviewed he said and I’m paraphrasing here: " I told Delonte not to play, to rest up, get better, and wait until he he is back in Boston to get further medical opinion… Doc told him the same thing, but Delonte came dressed and said I’m playing tonight- so we played him."
Who is running the team- West, Ainge or Doc? Isn’t it the coach’s decision to decide who plays and when? Kudos for West wanting to play hurt, but if he isn’t healthy and not playing anywhere near his potential, he hurts the team and I as the coach don’t play him!

In watching the game, Big Al is starting to look like a professional NBA player with a solid future, Allen is starting to show some signs of the same. Rondo gives this team energy that it needs. Rondo despite his lack of shooting and a rookie needs much more minutes.
Our 2 injured players Wally and West played a total of 68 min. and shot just 6 for 22 from the floor. Doc can b*ch and moan all he wants about Gerald but the thing is, Green got only 15 min. and he played much better than Wally who got 38 min. Rondo only got 12 min. I think to West’s 31 min. Why in the world can’t this team give both Green and Rondo 30 min. each when these other 2 are all banged up and given us nothing due to their injuries?

Ok all…. I watched the game tonight…. to put it in perspective I am currently hammerd and live in MN… Celts are my first love and the TWolves seocnd…. I have season tix to the Wovles with my buddy but I am like Bill Simmons in that I am a fan of the nba and justlike to watch BBALL. Thiswas the second Celts gamethat I have goten to watch on TV so far this year. My thoughts:
1) Play RONDO. Dwest… sorry guys but he sucks aas a PG. Telfar just sucks period
2) Al JEff… didn’t win by buddy’s bet cuz he was under the 27 but he should have gotten the ball more in the seocnd half… why stop feedding hinm? Sorry eGG, AL missed like his last five shots or you would have won your bet.
3( fire doc, he is an atrocius coach
4) Scal…. well… the annoucners were praiseing him but they are all biased. honestly, he sucks and I would rather see Powe play.
5) Perkions is NOT ready for the big time., Bad signing, nice one Ainge. Trade him with Telfiar and Wally for a legit starting PG if possible.
6) We were lucky to win,but we a caught a crayppy western conference teacm off guard.. I wouldn’tg et too hyped.
7) Winning our divisiojh would be the worst possible thing cuz we would get romped in the playofftrs and get a shytty draft pick
8) Sorry to be negative but its truth and go CELTICS…..!!!!!!!!!

Finally, Danny made the comment and I’m paraphrasing: “Just think how great we will be when we get everyone back healthy: Paul, Wally, West, etc”. First of all, we don’t live in a perfect world so chances are at least one of these guys are going to be out again as the year progresses. Secondly, with a very healthy team we may very well be on our way to a 38 win season, but let’s not kid ourselves Danny, we can’t compete with the best in the NBA (let alone the best in the east) with our healthy squad. Even if I had a New Year’s hangover which I don’t, that wouldn’t have gotten by me.

Watching last nite’s game was interesting when Danny did the color in the second half. His comments make me realize how much I don’t know and how good Danny is at evaluating things. I swing with the roller coaster as everyone. Play GG more, move Wally, he can’t shoot anymore, move Scals, TA’s done, etc. Danny sees past all this and puts everything into better perspective. Tommy pretty much does the same. Also, there were so many little things, good and bad that Danny pointed out during the game. He picked on Jefferson for not going out to attempt to block a three, on Gomes for not holding onto a rebound, for Jefferson for not being aggressive in the 4th quarter etc., that Perk’s still “not right” (physically). He also pointed out that only Wally and Scals recognized when Portland switched to a zone. Even I could see that even though Scal’s stats won’t show anything he was a big part of last nite’s win, as was Wally, especially at the end because of his experience that allowed him to make some big plays even though he can’t defend, run or jump. I still see good times ahead.
arctic 3.0—Perk hasn’t played in 3 weeks. Of course his timing is off. wahz—-We see Wilcox twice a year and he played one good game. Now we want to send Gomes away. What happened to “Doc’s so bad because he didn’t play Gomes earlier last year?” bceltfan——do you think that Danny thinks this team doesn’t need changes? He said before the season started that we do. But fortunately he’s in charge and doesn’t do things based on few games. If he did, TA would be gone by now if we could find a taker. Now TA may be untouchable. Next month if he’s not playing well we’ll want him gone again. Fickle fans are we. That’s why we’re putting out our thoughts here while Danny does it from Causeway St. or Waltham or in his car or wherever.
truegreen, the only time perk has had his timing down was that 1 dominant performance against philly last year.
VICTORY. we finally pull one out with out PP. this was an excruciating labor but playing with out the star has forced these kids to go ahead and learn to stand on their own.
i predict we take cleveland and ride into orlando with swagger.
by the time pp gets back we will be sniffing .500…
why is my coffee green?
I entirely agree with the sentiment that Danny gives great input during the games.
Did anyone notice how Dickerson made a comment about if Danny ever became a coach again to sit down or something along those lines? I was shocked that Danny just kind of laughed it off as opposed to denying that it was even a possibility.
Perhaps I am overanalyzing, but I couldn’t help but think he is leaving the door open for himself to step in.
I think he knows the game very well and would make a great coach for the Celtics.

:-* The Celtics broke thru last night gutting out a nice win vs Portland. Mostly they stayed competitive the whole game and almost had 4 20 pt quarters. Not only that but they didn’t fold in crunch time ala Wally. Celtic fans saw a good player in Brandon Roy who will be a star to come. Our frontline had a solid game in points and rebounds
Pluses: outshot 438 – 389%, Out rebound 42- 38 with 10 O Reb, only 22 PF.
Minuses DWest/Telfair combined 3 – 12.
Bottomline: This is a good game to launch the new year. Hopefully teams saw enough of our young guys to offer us a trade for a veteran star. Hope Pierce plays on Wednesday.

AL D—-You are over analyzing. Danny was a coach and resigned mid-season to be able to spend time with his family. He still has young kids at home and doubt he will coach. evrock—-I heard that too and think it’s Doc telling the defense the opponent is trying to isolate someone. I’m not sure that’s what it is, but I do hear it also.
