You missed one other stat line. Allan Ray: 20 points on 7 for 13 shooting with two steals. We all love Gerald, but maybe it’s time to give some minutes to a kid who was all Big East and half of the best backcourt in college basketball last year.

Great point Green17. As players get healthy, there’s a real dilemma. I mean seriously, do you really want to see Gomes, Ray, and Rondo lose time to Wally and Scal?
Also, does anyone remember last year when Doc and Danny treated all the people who said “play the kids” like idiots, saying “You’ve got to make players earn playing time?” What CRAP. And for what? So the team could win 33 games rather than 20 games? Who cares?!
Look at the way the kids are playing now that they don’t feel like they’re going to get yanked the second they screw up. Without the injuries, do Allen, West, Rondo, Ray, and even Green get these kind of minutes? Would we ever have known they could play like this? This should have been happening last year.

One more stat,
Telfair, 7 min, 1 pt, 1 reb, 2 ast.
Its time to put the PG question to rest. Rondo’s the point.

The fact that the young guys are playing well is great but this team needs a win. It’s not like they are gonna go ona 25 game winning streak and hurt their draft pick. They need a win to validate for the players that their hard work and effort will pay off. They need the confidence. They need to show they can win a game. It’s not like Pierce is going to play every single game for the rest of his career once he gets back.
Sounds like the the defense is the problem for both Telfair and Green. Would still have liked to see Green tough it out and work through his early mistakes. That would have made this a complete victory, I mean loss.

where did the bassy defenders go? and hey, West has always been fine he just isn’t our future point guard, master PO. And since Tony will come back and be a better wing player and we also have pp AND GG, what to do with West? an 8 or 9 man rotation works best, does he fit with that? Maybe. Someday it might dawn on some of you he is a good player who needs to be traded at peak value for something we need, OR he will need to be satisfied with 20 minutes a game hustling his butt off. Id prefer that. The idiotic move to get Bassy would have been fine had we traded the little midget when he was getting minutes. Now that its obvious he should be playing in Europe, what do we do now?
Rondo and Ray are our backcourt future. Telfair must go and Green needs to learn how to play defense. This team is fun to watch even when they lose. All I care about is that they beat those dam Lackers!!!!!!

its great to see the kids play great. it hurts to see how they CHOKE. ray was out of control at the end. al and rondo and delonte were pooped. i dont know but i really hope that doc and his staff are teaching the kids. they just look like there is no icewater in their veins when they need it. there is no calm.
No, West is the future. Deal with it.
This was really an almost perfect outcome, except for Gerald Green’s no show and Perkins’ continued struggles. They played well, came back from a 21-point deficit, and lost. A free throw here and there, or a favorable call, or a favorable bounce, and they might have won. But the lottery Gods were smiling once again.
Doc, have you ever heard of fatigue? This usually happens when you don’t make any substitutions for about 20 game minutes. As well as the team played, I knew Doc’s coaching would determine the outcome. smilies/cry.gif
Chief…that is exactly what we need! Doc is the best coach we could have right now!

Ray shot nice and palyed some tough D out there (hence getting mintues over G$). Even tho he made some bad decisions down the stretch he looked good. Delotne and Rondo gave Arenas a tough time.

Wow, if Rondo isn’t the starting PG and playing AT LEAST 30 mpg, Doc Rivers should seriously be murdered.
Get rid of Telfair asap. For anything. What a horrible trade. What if we had Roy instead of him? Ahhh, what a nightmare dream that was.
Keep the Faith and keep losing. We don’t even need to “tank” games, we just go and have Doc coach a game as he normally does, which is 80% of the battle towards us losing any given game.

- The future what? Future BACKUP SG maybe. But that’s about it. Why not trade his injury prone, inconsistent package NOW while his trade value might actually be considered high by some? Seems to make the most sense to me….
by Rainman on Jan 21, 2007 12:45 AM EST reply actions
And the idea that Ray is part of the backcourt of the future is ludicrous. Perhaps he has a spot in the NBA but if he’s a main cog the team must be dreadful. It was just perfect at the end of the game when Doc chose to chew out Green after Ray screwed up the last possession.
by lemonadesky on Jan 21, 2007 12:50 AM EST reply actions
Who cares, let them play Ray big minutes… it will just help us get closer to our main agenda of Oden and/or Durant. Shit, I’d even take Horford, Wright or Thad Young.

Anyone know what happened to google video carrying regular season NBA games? Did they stop that after last season? I was hoping to purchase this game.

- I think you can still buy them for $3.99 a game or something like that…

Still? I saw that last season, but so far haven’t found it this season. Any idea where to look?

You are correct Luke.
I can’t seem to find games for sale on Google Video this year at all…. I wonder if they stopped that. Sorry buddy.

Man is Delonte worthless in crucial situations. The guy just cannot create his own shot and takes too long to dribble and shoot. (other than his defense, he was a useless body on the offense)
I like west and he playes well for 3 quarters, but he shouldn’t be playing the fourth.
Jefferson sometimes has to understand he needs to pass. The guy was amazing tonite, but ray was wide open on three occasions for a three. Should trust his teammates
Gomes is no doubt our future sf behind pierce. He reminds you of a poor mans pierce(well really poor mans pierce ) , great game.
Lastly Rondo deserves some more passes. He barely shot in the fourth , nor did he or was allowed to penetrate. The guy is amazing, he was on Arenas like a hawk. Honestly i don’t think there is one pg/sg player that can handle rondos lighting spawling defense. If rondo only learns how to shoot with more consitancy, like i said before he will be top three pg in the league soon.

Thanks anyway, Rainman.

I would have to agree somewhat with Triboy16’s concern about Delonte’s decision making. I was at game tonight and always sat uneasy when he initiated the offense down the stretch. Some of his decisions where confusing. Then again, if we want to talk about bad decisions, Gerald Green (who continues to learn and grow fairly quickly, this is only his second year) made some dumb ones. Delonte is smart at times, but I keep seeing him as still a SG who sometimes makes PG type plays.
by Luke Middleton on Jan 21, 2007 2:24 AM EST reply actions
…my wife said it well when she independently observed (first NBA game she’s been to in years), “Delonte seems to make up his mind that he’s going to do something and then isn’t able to deviate from that when that decision doesn’t work out.”
by Luke Middleton on Jan 21, 2007 2:25 AM EST reply actions
The key story here is the fact that Rondo has officially surpassed Bassy. The fact that Doc is only now waking up is pitiful. Look at the rebounds, assists and defense.
The thing you have to love about Allan Ray is his aggressiveness. He’s not gonna be intimidated. When he gets into the game, he attacks. That’s why Bassy’s lost minutes to him, too. You can see the fact that he played college ball.
It’s been AWESOME to see Gomes finally being active with his offense and rebounding the last couple games. And I think we can pencil Al in for 20-10 for here on out!

You all Delonte bashers are funny. This was his first bad 4th quarter of the year. Obviously its a great time to grill him. However he did have 5 assists in the 4th quarter. He definitely was fatigued as well as the whole team. I laugh at those who say Delonte couldn’t get his own shot. It was painfully obvious that ROndo was the point guard in the overtime period that couldn’t get anything done if anything. However, it was the plays that weren’t working, Al Jefferson and GOmes were the ones who were supposed to get the shots but they just lacked the energy to get where they needed to be. The one thing that i am mad at about Delonte and his game in the 4th and overtime is that he over passed and passed up on some jumpshots that he should have taken. He tried to give it up to Jefferson too much to stay with the course of the offense.
West was fouled twice on drives but no calls as the refs seemed to put away their whistles just as the wizards started playing hard nosed defense. Very convenient.
One thing that absolutely bothers me everytime i watch Al Jefferson play is that he does not know how to pass out of double teams and also he does not recognize when he doesn’t have the best shot in the world. He needs to recognize that others might be the best opportunity to score in possessions.
All you West bashers amaze me….knitpicking after he has very good back to back games. Yes he is more suitable in maybe a triangle offense or with a point forward player or playing on a championship team but he does so many things that go un noticed and is a leader on the court at times…. everyone wants him to be some sort of playmaker or scoring machine…but then also want Jefferson Green and Rondo to do the same things… Let Delonte be the glue guy he is and be productive when the other guys are struggling. He played a bad 4th quarter and OT with zero points, 5 assists and 3 turnovers and 1 steal. So did Al Jefferson and Rondo (save for some good rebounding efforts). I thought the defense was pretty good from the guards in general last night.
by jimmywolfrey on Jan 21, 2007 6:03 AM EST reply actions
I also would like to add that Delonte really only had 2 turnovers in the 4th and OT and one should have gone to someone else but that is besides the point.
I think the main reason Delonte didnt have the bounce is that it was back to back games after resting for 5 games and more importantly he was forced to guard sigggggggghhhhhhh Caron Butler in the 4th and Overtime.
I guess nobody wanted to mention that as a reason for his lack of a scoring threat in the 4th/OT.

Rondo is awesome!!!
Another game with big minutes and another jason kidd like just short of a triple double performance.. i wonder how many triple doubles jk has missed in his career? back to Rondo, its just awesome seeing a rookie coming so close to a triple double , thata a hard feat and usually only the elite players ever get them.
What a bunch of DW haters – it never stops.
Rondo (whom I really like) also made some key turnovers last night at critical points in the game (overtime) and he also showed (again) great great promise. It’s called being professional but human and young.
No one plays a perfect game, especially on this struggling team. I think the overall frustration of this whole season has clouded some of you expert bashers into thinking that somehow DW takes this team on a suicide run every time he touches the ball, and that somehow Rondo is the second coming of Steve Nash or Bob Cousy.
Breathe deep, take your medication at a higher dose, and quit hatin
Peace
Could not watch last nights game but it sounds like the kids did okay. For some reason, all Wizards home games are blocked where I live. To Master Po, my wife makes sure I take my medication every day at the proper dosage. I was very happy to see Rondo’s minutes versus Telfairy’s.

I am one of those Telfair believers. I believe that he will be fine. But I also like Rondo and Rondo completely deserves the minutes instead of Telfair. I also like Delonte but I see him best at 2nd team scoring and pace not starting PG. I don’t believe playing close and losing all the time is healthy, lottery or no lottery. This franchise must show that it can win in the 4th Qtr. Gimme just one out of three. OK one out of four. Gomes was superb last night but Perk is, sadly, useless. We win that game with Tony Allen. I’ll be there Monday and I believe they’ll scramble a win. How’s that for faith!
Lemonadesky, I wondered the sam thing, so I watched the last play again. Doc chewed out Green because he waited to long to come baseline off the screen, that’s why Ray got hung up, the play was designed to go to Ray then Green and Green waited too long
