I seriously cannot watch this team play anymore…it is very depressing…

Oh well, another stinker down on the way to Durant and Oden. Don’t worry guys, better times are ahead..

I am trying to appreciate the fact that Gerald is trying to step up, take over scoring, rise to the occasion, and so forth. The fact that he is not hitting those 3’s, nor going to the line, makes it painful. I keep telling myself I should be grateful – he’s physically trying. But the judgment is still missing.

The draft question: it does not seem that there are going to be any definite-impact PG’s, but lots of bigs. A true center puts Jefferson at the 4, which is fine. Most of the bigs, however, are 4-5’s themselves, which can be fantastic…

…with good coaching.

Can Delonte please learn how to pass on the fast break (especially when Gerald Green is trailing by himself). Talk about tunnel vision. I’d also like to not see Wally take 10 shots and pick up right where he left off at – 30% shooting or so. Overall I hope Big Al can start to diversify his offensive moves a bit, and I did see some positives.. some :)

I hate to say it, but I watched a DVD of the first season of “The Office” instead of the 1st half. I just can’t take some of these half baked lineups that Doc puts out there. I find myself picking my spots to watch now. Wyc and Danny better get their act together soon.

I am listening to the guys on Celtics Pride and they would trade AJ for Gasol….hhhmmm interesting…..

Gomes was completely abused by Jamison.

I tune in to the game to see the following lineup:
Bassy
Rondo
West
Ray
Green

Enough Said…

by bdo3272 on Jan 28, 2007 8:53 PM EST reply actions

coco, the thing about those guys is they blow their load on Green.

by cos on Jan 28, 2007 8:53 PM EST reply actions

Ancient Red I know what you mean. It is exciting watching some of these youngsters, but it’s frustrating not seeing any team development. All of the guys in the league have individual skills; I’m not sure what it’s proving watching their skills on display if we can’t bring it all together and play the kind of game that will get some wins.

I agree. I really think that is Doc’s favorite lineup…

by fiddlesNdiddles on Jan 28, 2007 8:56 PM EST reply actions

yeah, i couldnt believe that either. Pretty much a 5 gaurd lineup.

by cos on Jan 28, 2007 8:59 PM EST reply actions

Unreal, even the guys who breaks the rumor is against giving up AJ for Gasol. This rumor is out there just to push the bulls, its not happening.

by cos on Jan 28, 2007 9:14 PM EST reply actions

That looked like what it was: A team of vets toying with an overwhelmed AAU squad.

The Wiz play poor defense, but the Celts have a way of making every team look like the Spurs on the defensive end.

Here’s hoping Pierce comes back healthy & at teaches these kids how to win a few games. No good can come of losing 20 straight games. Even if there is a #1 pick at the end of the rainbow.

“I tune in to the game to see the following lineup:

Game was gone by then. That lineup was not typical. They looked good in the first period, but Washington hand got out of 2nd gear. When they upshifted things fell apart fast.

Ancient Red, you must be getting senile. There is nothing exciting. Gerald Green is getting his chance and not looking very ready. Maybe next year. Maybe never. Perk made Brendan Haywood look all world. The inability to win a 4th Quarter, any 4th Qtr, just one!…is an indication that their learning curve is moving at cretin speed. With youth we of course lack experience. But what we should see is energy and effort and we don’t have that in the 4th Qtr. You don’t dribble the ball past the 24 sec clock or out of bounds yourself Doc. But you own some responsibility for this train wreck. There is too much stoicism for screwing up another 4th Qtr and not enough kick-ass attitude. Greg Oden this weekend to me looked like a wooden legged, aged-too-fast young man. Pinning our hopes on him is perilous. I’m thinking Durant or Noah would be fine. C’mon Wally for the money you’re paid we expect you to at least drop your shots. I wouldn’t be so quick to trade away Gomes. He has an NBA mind set. The inability to rotate on defense…STILL…is ridiculous. Play this season out, then make some tough decisons Wyc. Maybe Danny, maybe Doc, maybe both. Blowing up all the young players does not make sense to me but forward motion is imperative. Scalabrine has his limitations but he is the only one who gets hustle and switching on defense.

another game for m.l. rivers to keep a small line-up on the floor to guarantee we get outrebounded. you’ve heard of the 2 minute egg- this is a 24-30 minute team. i haven’t seen a complete coherent responsive team in i don’t know how long.

“stillaceltsfan” – hahahaha – I know and agree but we got people in here that think no matter how good he plays he still sucks.

the C’s season summed up with a few quotes from an aptly named movie…

“the horror… the horror”.
its more exruciating then “…watch[ing] a snail crawl along the edge of a razor”

a tommy point for the first person to name the movie i’m quoting

I honestly do not get what is exciting about any of this. If you can’t see that most of these veteran teams are simply toying with the Celtics and playing just enough minutes to win the game, they you are wearing blinders. As for the kids developing, honestly, Outisde of Jefferson and Rondo, just who is doing this development? I have seen some excitement here about Allan Ray. From what I have seen he can shoot, and that is it. As for Gerald Green, he has been a big disappointment to me and I am starting to wonder about just how good he will be in the league. Telfair is a bust, and Perkins, while I know he has a bad foot, will never be anything more than a serviceable backup center. I just do not understand what excitement anyone sees when watching this sad team play.

Wyc and co. just emailed me the new promo where the Celtics have offered half-price discounts to several popular anti-depressants. You just have to mention the codeword, “Lottery.” :-\

Get Gasol Now while you can. Im sick of playing the waiting game. If u can get Gasol without giving up Jefferson/Pierce then do it. Obviously if we trade the pick it has to be top 5 protected.
Do it Danny!

by meanballa34 on Jan 28, 2007 10:49 PM EST reply actions

I sure hope the trade happens fairly soon, like within the next few days. Jefferson couldn’t put up decent numbers against Brendan Fricken Haywood once they realized he does the same up-fake move eveeeery time on offense. Gasol plays the good D and knows his game already.

No more weird science Danny, get Gasol now!!

by Tradetime on Jan 28, 2007 10:56 PM EST reply actions

But what is Gasol’s brainwave pattern analysis schematic type??? We must know! lol.

by TomHamilton30 on Jan 28, 2007 11:17 PM EST reply actions

Good grief, what a bunch of bellyachers! The star is injured, the #2 player is coming off an injury, the most improved player is out for the season, the center is playing injured, and the rest of the key players are still college age. If you make a panic move now — like trading for Pau — you sell out ten years of the future because you couldn’t handle a few weeks of pain. The Celtics have been doing that for too long. I’m sick of it. Stay the course. Keep AJ, keep Green, get the high pick. A little pain now for a lot of happiness in the future.

We suck. We had the game.

by Rainman on Jan 28, 2007 11:45 PM EST reply actions

Gasol is still 26…! he fits into our future plans.

by meanballa34 on Jan 28, 2007 11:47 PM EST reply actions

Another day, another loss, but perhaps a world record for the “Game Thread”, only two pages.

Ahhhhhhh. trying, trying times.

For some reason, Brendan Haywood always seems to give Big Al trouble. We were absolutely massacred on the boards, 20 offensive is just brutal.

The only bright spots I can see from the stats, we won the free throw battle (what’s up there Sexy ???) and Arenas only shot 6 – 16, so presumably somebody played decent defense on Gilbert.

At times like this, I think of all the pre-season hype, the positive attitude of the players, how they were sick of losing and it’s time to start winning, Bassy talking up his ability to run the team and play with Paul, Wally feeling better health wise and how a training camp with the team will really help him.

Talk is cheap and talent walks the walk.

We have had a tough run with injuries and our youth is exposed, however, I was hoping for something slightly better than 12 – 31.

I hope JH Truth is right and I need some of whatever Ancient R. is drinking.

Ancient, please explain the excitement to me, I need some, I need some ……………………..

Until next game.

Cheers

Hey Aussie, can Roger Federer play basketball!!!

by bceltfan on Jan 29, 2007 1:25 AM EST reply actions

Great idea bceltfan, the guy is obvously an outstanding athlete, cool under pressure and has the reflexes of a cat.

I think he would make an awesome point guard.

Now, if only we could afford his salary ………………….

by Aussie Celtic on Jan 29, 2007 1:54 AM EST reply actions

The question to ask again is will a team with Paul, Al, Tony, GG, Wally and either Oden or Durant bring us a title or could it be a team consisting of Paul, Pau, Tony, GG and Wally and say McRoberts, Splitter or Noah? Obviously you’d rather go with Oden. But is that realistically worth pursuing given the odds and thus giving up a shot at a all star big? We know those kind come along every week! :)

by celty86 on Jan 29, 2007 7:02 AM EST reply actions

Celty 86 makes some sense. If a highly ranked player comes on the block, it’s worth talking about. Making something happen is better than hoping for something to happen that might not. We’d kick ourselves, though, if we indeed traded for Pau and then KG came on the market.

by mcpu40 on Jan 29, 2007 7:55 AM EST reply actions

This is just a game you forget about. It was a stinker and not typical of the way we’ve been playing. It’s just a dip in the roller coaster where the heights aren’t too great on average. Let’s just appreciate the exciting games, realize this year is over except for the young guys to gain experience and let Danny evaluate what we have and what we can do.
