Same Ol' Stuff Different Day
Another day, another round of stories about ping pong balls, youth, coach-speak, injuries, blah blah blah...
- Shaughnessy must be doing research for a Curse of the Pitino book or something.
- Rivers' latest "motivational" speach is: "we were soft."
- Wyc is cautiously optimistic , or is that optimistically cautious?
- And here is the link where someone in the Boston media actually got a quote from someone about Pau Gasol rumors,... oh wait, there isn't one? Must be some mistake. Nope. It just isn't out there. Sorry folks, try again tomorrow.
- Here is Sam Smith's take from a Chicago perspective.

If we’re not counting today’s Sam Smith column…

…which is something I’d never do.

Celts got killed on the boards. But giving up O rebounds on missed free
throws is inexcusable. Any one who does that should just walk over to the bench at the next whistle.

Well Wyc & Danny even one of your most devoted fans and owner of the blog couldnt be arsed anymore and either could we . I cannot for the life of me pretend i give a damn either , i keep looking for the end of the rainbow and all i find is a great big pot of poo with the names of players you have collected for us to enjoy in it , which you try to pass off as “promising” and keeps us on a string forever and a day.
Its been a craptastic experience.. […] you very much sirs.
hugs & kisses .
Hondo.

Check out hoopshype.com for a Gasol rumor. It says Boston is offering Jefferson and SEVERAL draft picks for Gasol. If Doc/Ainge do this I’ll fly to Boston and shoot them, especially if it involves this years pick!!! From what I hear, Gasol has a huge contract, but I haven’t checked it out. Is this true??
Hoopshype is the Ralph Nader of basketball sites.

I enjoy Shaughnessy’s take on everything, though he rarely finds the spirit to write about the Celtics. You’ve got to have a sense of humor in this bleak midwinter of a basketball season, otherwise we’d all be much better off finding something else to watch.
You have to admit it’s much easier on your health when you don’t really care about the outcome of the games (other than hoping for losses). Even Tommy Heinsohn seems rather mellow by his standards. Last night he called out the refs for blowing a call in the Celtics favor. And he’s praising the opponents’ players as well.
Of course, this should make us all wonder why we are bothering to watch the team at this point. Must be the dancers.

The Pats were eliminated two weeks early and spring training is still a month away. Thus we get an obligatory, poorly-researched column about the Celtics. Why doesn’t Shaughnessy just take a vacation for February?

“Rivers’ latest "motivational” speach is: “we were soft.”
Watching the C’s get bulled around in the paint by Etan Thommas youve got to agree. Al-J said as much himself in the postgame. They got way too many offensive rebounds.

It’s well established that Sam Smith talks out of his A. I love these writers who say the celts have offered everything when they don’t know squat. as far as I’m concerned we would be crazy to trade jefferson and a high lottery pick for a guy who has been injured all year and who has never led his team pas the first round
Worst part of the night for me was watching Zoolander brick 9 of 12 shot attempts and play an all around lackluster game. I’ve adjusted fairly well to seeing lots of mistakes and poor play. Cry me’s coaching doesn’t even upset me anymore. I just shake my head and smile. The players talk about playing out the string, as a fan, I’m just watching out the string. Unfortunately, it’s still a fairly large ball of twine.

Interesting, yet relevant aside (as they say in the theater): My name this morning is aQua…hah!…and I notice this just after your post aQua caused me to google Zoolander to find out that he’s a dimwitted…etc…and this got me to thinkin’…What if I just wrote out this heavy comment and hit “add comment.” Would the comment be posted to aQua…If this scenario is true, then our beloved blog has a serious security issue…I mean, one can’t possibly be sure of who is posting…Stated concretely, it now is possible that Brick is actually wild about each and every move made by DA and that the “Toine trade” actually gave him a “religous experience”…WoW!…“and it makes me wonder”…

Isn’t it time to quit trashing Doc Rivers? It certainly appears that we’re TANKING this season with the hope that the bouncing balls fall in our favor. Why mess things up by demanding a top coach who could spoil our run at a top-three pick? Can you think of a more affable coach to guide us through this miserable season? Isn’t it enough that the players LIKE him and hasn’t he kept their spirit burning brightly?
Even Paul Pierce appears content to sit on the bench and watch with an amused aura of of a father watching his offspring compete. Will his eventual return spoil the show?
Doc has proven to be a master showman with a trite yet glib take on the struggling franchise. To his credit the Celtics remain competitive and entertaining if not down right disappointing in crunch time. Chill for now and enjoy the futility of an over-matched team trying their hardest to look legitimate.

“I wouldnt trade Big Al straight up for Gasol let alone give them draft picks. they would have to give us picks as Big al has so much growth potential as he is college student age and as of late is as good as pau and only getting better”
Ah, now if your last comment were only true….
The assumption being missed here is if there are multiple picks being offered as well it would have something to do with not having an ending contract to deal along with Jefferson. Think of it in reverse, if the C’s decided to move Pierce and the other team were offering ‘potentially great wing player X’ a pick and ‘cap slug Z’ wouldn’t you want the C’s to pick up an additional pick for absorbing ‘cap slug Z’ contract for additonal years past this one?

everytime I read an article on a potential trade, the author says that we have offered everone and everything.
So far no trades have gone down and that leads me to believe that not a lot of teams want our young guys. everyone’ trade value is so low right now.
it’s not looking good. hopefully, these columnists don’t know what they’re talking about.
