Magic Beat Celtics

Box Score

Another solid effort by Tony Allen.  Gomes was sick so Perkins and Jefferson got to play together some.  Orlando was just the better team tonight.

Too much Scal and Wally in this one. Not enough Telfair either. He was playing good D on Nelson when he was in there. No Perk & Al together until Gomes got sick. Did I say Doc was an idiot?

I was in Memphis the other night telling everyone how bad Wally and Scalabrine are. That night, they made me look like a complete fool. I hope all those people watched tonight’s game. They may actually think I know something about the Celtics.

Not enough touches for Al. This team is starting to forget how well he has played and isn’t getting him the ball enough. He had his man sealed off several times and they didn’t get it to him, and then he got on a roll and then they forgot about him. They have to recommit to getting him the ball. And where were the pick and rolls from the Cleveland game?

This game just plain ##!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:(

by Meangreen Machine on Jan 7, 2007 9:08 PM EST reply actions

why he puts in wally who is as cold as ice in the key part of the 4th quarter, and not play g$? If green is our hope for the future, why not let him learn when it counts? doc is certifiable. at least, tony played like it counted- a good role model for the coach.

Too much Scal and Wally, sure… and we should have played who instead?

by kozlodoev on Jan 7, 2007 9:15 PM EST reply actions

My favorite team went to Disneyland and all they brought me back was this lousy T-Shirt
which says:

“Wally Sucks” (on the front)

“Scali Back to Sucking” (on the back)

by Master Po on Jan 7, 2007 9:16 PM EST reply actions

That’s cold, Po. lol

by Bankshot on Jan 7, 2007 9:23 PM EST reply actions

By the looks of it, Gerald was as ice cold as Wally. Wally also managed to knock some shots in the 4th as well.

Who cares if blount had a good game. He didnt want to be in boston, and how many of these “big games” has he had since we shipped him out??

by RIPRED on Jan 7, 2007 11:09 PM EST reply actions

Master Po, any room on that t-shirt for a comment on Doc’s coaching tonite? I think he keeps grinning after these games because he gets paid by the loss!

stillaceltsfan: I keep track of the Twolves cause of Ricky and have noticec that Blount was playing well for them as of late, The other night he had 28pts, he has had a few games in the 20’s.

by Texstyles on Jan 7, 2007 11:33 PM EST reply actions

Perk and Al took the same amount of shots – 8. This number is way too low for Al and way too high for Perk. Take all of Perk’s shots and give them to Al, no need to try and develop Perk’s offense that’s not what he’s in there for. Double figures again for Al when his team barely cares to get him the ball. Come back soon Paul you actually passed it to the big guy (the right big guy).

by ReadyFor17 on Jan 7, 2007 11:46 PM EST reply actions

Unless there’s a trade on the horizon Wally should be limited to 20 mins a night.

by celticnorespect on Jan 7, 2007 11:49 PM EST reply actions

The good: Al is 5 for 8 in 32 mins.

The Bad: Al only got 8 shots in 32 mins.

The Ugly: Perk goes 1-8 in 27 mins. (to go with 5 fouls).

Lastly, Tony Allen with 7 STEALS…guy almost got a sick triple double.

by TheUndertow on Jan 8, 2007 12:12 AM EST reply actions

This game was lost at the start, the gameplan should of been to go into Al ad nauseum from the start to try and get DHoward in foul trouble. Instead the C’s were content to play on the perimeter with their typically awful spacing, and our frontline was the first to get into foul trouble. Also, I find it hard to believe that Powe can’t get any minutes considering this team’s awful frontline. If you don’t think he can play in the NBA why not just cut him and bring another big man in?

by flexilexi on Jan 8, 2007 12:33 AM EST reply actions

Orlando had 2 things going for them tonight ( 1 ) Wally Szerbiak, ( 2 ) was Kendrick Perkins, both of them played too much tonight. Wally’s jump shot is killing the C’s when he’s not hitting and he’s not been hitting for some time now, and still Doc plays him as though he’s the best player on the floor, that puzzles me.
Perkins is getting the ball on the key and looks to pass, he looks like a robot programmed to pass the ball and he’s doing a horrible job of playing that spot and passing the ball, still Doc continues to use him for that play.
The C’s need a coach that knows how to coach the point guards first then they need a coach to recognize that Wally shouldn’t be playing anymore than 10 minutes per game, then they need that same coach to tell Gerald Green to take his man one on one and don’t pass the ball back when he has his man one on one.
Boston got rebounded by 20 rebounds last night that was real real bad

by micah kenneth on Jan 8, 2007 12:34 AM EST reply actions

If you end up getting out rebounded by 20 a guy like Powe would seem to be someone who could see some minutes especially with Gomes
sick and Perk working on a 1 for 8 night. Way to go Doc. Take the
sleeping pill AFTER the game.

by Greg37 on Jan 8, 2007 7:35 AM EST reply actions

The C’s offensive spacing was simply terrible in this one. When you force this team to play half court they haven’t got a chance. It can’t all be due to the coaching staff either, but positioning Perkins on the perimeter is pretty lame. No one is going to guard him allowing the opponent to clog the middle.

by lemonadesky on Jan 8, 2007 7:40 AM EST reply actions

Wally has got to be one of the most 1 DIMENSIONAL players in the league…..he can shoot, but he gives you ZERO on D and ZERO on the boards…oh, i forgot ZERO in the passing game as well (witness the 0 boards and 0 assists in over 30 disgusting minutes)….if this guy doesnt hit his shots, he doesnt even look like he should be in the league, thats how bad he is….but lets play him 35 minutes a game, Doc….I love it…

by NUMBA 17 on Jan 8, 2007 7:54 AM EST reply actions

8 shot attempts from al jeff.
how dumb are these kids. feed the post feed the post feed the post

by arctic 3.0 on Jan 8, 2007 8:04 AM EST reply actions

Partially Doc’s fault that the ball didn’t go in to Al. Doc will wait until after the game to say “we went away from Al.” LOL Why not call a timeout and tell the players to get the ball into Al while the game is still in progress and you still have a chance? I’ll tell you why, because Doc is slow to realize these things himself, while the rest of us are yelling at the tv to get the ball to Al while Howard is on the bench. Did I mention Doc is an idiot?

by Bankshot on Jan 8, 2007 9:09 AM EST reply actions

Wall & Scal bombing away. Wally should be sitting with how he is shooting. If a younger player was doing this they would be sitting. He is a turnover waiting to happen. Al only 8 shots that is BS. He is going good early they go away start bombing from outside. He starts going good again at the start of the 3 rd and then they same thing happens. Doc was a point guard and he can’t teach how to feed in the post, or the pick and roll. Until they fire Doc we will have these problems along with falling apart and losing close games.

by wbones1 on Jan 8, 2007 12:32 PM EST reply actions

I like Doc!!!! However, I like him better as a TNT BB Analyst.

How many of you actually saw Doc play PG? I remember him as a poor man’s DJ. His shooting was very inconsistent and his ability to penetration was non-existent. What the heck can he teach these PG anyhow.

Notice how inconsistent GMoney’s minutes have become because Doc doesn’t want the kid to shine. I second the emotion about Powe why not let him hit the court and can’t do any worse the Veal/Scal/Brian or whateverh his name is.
