Celtics.com Euroblog

Sorry I didn't get to this sooner, but if you aren't already following Peter Stringer's Euroblog, you are missing out. It comes from a Celtics employee, but what it lacks in inherent objectivity it makes up for in access. Here are some highlights:
Pollard hurt:
Scot Pollard sprained his left ankle a while back during informal workouts, and he did not participate in Sunday's opening practice, nor was he expected to go today. We'll update you when there's more news on his condition.
Pruitt hurt too:
Practice ended today on a sour note, as Gabe Pruitt appeared to sprain his ankle on the final play of a scrimmage game between the second and third unit teams. Pruitt elevated trying to block Eddie House's midrange jumper, and appeared to be in quite a bit of pain when he hit the floor clutching his ankle. We hope to have an official update on his status before tomorrow's practice.
Not all bad news:
My list of guys who stood out today: Ray Allen, who seemingly couldn't miss during the scrimmage; Tony Allen, who was attacking the hole when the opportunity showed itself, and once again, Esteban Batista, who appears more polished than advertised, at least to these eyes, anyway. Captain Paul Pierce also had a strong day. I'm probably leaving a few guys out, and the coaching staff's opinion is the only one that matters anyway, but about two hours later, those are the guys who stuck in my head.

I’d like to pick up Batista, but it’s tough to think of three players that they’re willing to dump in order to pick him up…

No more talk about injuries. Call them minor player activity ailments, etc.
We should be in Jamica, not Europe seeking a voodo witch doctor for some cures.
This is getting to be more and more like a football team: Pollard is questionable for tonight’s game, and Pruit is probable, Tony Allen is on the inactive but soon to be promoted to the exhibition squad with a shot at the 40 man roster, while Perk is at the podiatrist.
From now on Celtics practice will take place in one of those kids rooms you see at McDonalds or Burger King with all the little colored plastic balls.
Commissioner Stern will once again change the game ball for Celtic exhibition games, it will be a nerf ball.
No more injuries.

Every time I read about another “ankle sprain” I think about Jefferson and wonder whether the Celtics’ ROUTINELY tape players ankles?
This brief recap sounds like a prelude to the season…Pollard hurt, Batista showing more than advertised, Gabe Pruit not available etc., Tony Allen on the mend (but is he there yet?).

Master Po,I also don’t see why we need to cut three to keep Batista. There are now 17 on the roster. Also, I believe that if we send players to the D League they are still counted on our roster. As to Scals, I believe he’ll be more important than ever on a Vet team. I wouldn’t cut him.
rickyfan3.0, KG doesn’t play under the basket, it’s not his game. I think he will score cutting to the basket, but he won’t play the position like Big Al. That’s why before I knew more about KG I was against trading Al Jeff for him. With that said, this is a much better team now.
Po,
I have tremendous respect for your opinion, but I couldn’t disagree more about Scal. I believe he’ll be a completely different player on a veteran team. This is a put-up-or-shut-up year, where upside and potential are less important than immediate contribution. Scal will be much more important that guys like Jackie Manuel or Wallace.
