Big Al To Get Big Paycheck
Look for the Timberwolves to make newcomer Al Jefferson a five-year contract offer soon in the $50 million range. Jefferson, who plans to buy former Wolves coach Dwane Casey's Minneapolis townhouse when he gets a new deal, will have until Oct. 31 to accept or reject the offer.
There is nothing to a rumor that new Timberwolf Juwan Howard could be traded to the Boston Celtics to be a teammate of Kevin Garnett. Howard came to the Wolves with the understanding that he would play with Garnett, who later was traded to Boston. Several teams could become trade possibilities for Howard under certain scenarios, but the Celtics are not among them.

It’s the same management Kevin Garnett had. Look what they did to him. It was cheap and they didn’t respect their superstar in many, many instances. KG wants to win, that’s the only thing he wants to do. So does Al. There are lots of cities that wouldn’t treat a star like that. He should go to one of them and tell Minni (not Kevin, lol) to shove it.

Big Al, Raef and Wally say your getting screwed. Seriously $15M is Elton Brand, Dwight Howard money. Big Al should be getting those #s or close to it.
Minny had better package a bunch of their 2s and 3s, plus picks and get a Gasol type player to help Al or Minny is doomed to reek like the 2005-6, 2006-7 Celtics. Foye, Gomes, Brewer, even Gerald may help but Minny won’t go anywhere without big boy help for Al.

Latest rumor, Kobe will nix any trade to Knicks and it is down to Bulls and Mavs (I say Bulls).
Also rumor is that PJ Brown will declare his retirement. Expect a big guy like him to be on the Celtic roster by mid season for cheap money.

I hated to see Big Al go but the KG deal makes up for the Wally deal.
Now about that Telfair deal, we need to have a word or two with you Portland.

the Bulls would have been a tough out in the playoffs anyway, but with Kobe they’ll be fearsome. Wing defense is a weakness for the Celtics because bringing in our top defenders (Posey and Allen) forces us to either go small (4 guards and Garnett) or play without a PG. We can get away with this in the regular season but it presents a real challenge in the playoffs if/when we play against guys like Kobe, Arenas and LeBron. The latter two play on beatable teams, but a Kobe led Bulls squad that still has Kurt Heinrich is probably the favorite in the East. Particularly if Skiles and Rivers are the two coaches.

If the Bulls get Kobe, I think their title chances depend on if who they send to LA is Gordon or Deng. If they send Gordon, they are better; if they send Deng, they’ve made a lateral move, at best. Which is why I think a Bulls deal won’t happen: Lakers would be idiotic not to insist on Deng, Bulls would be idiotic to include Deng.
Word on the street is that Big Al has already rejected a $55 million offer from Taylor.

Yes, if he has a good season, he could demand more. Don’t get me wrong, I think he will… but you never know. Also, he’d still only be a Restricted Free Agent next summer so we could match any offers. With all that said, I think we’d be stupid to not sign him before Oct 31st.
