He had a good game. I thought he would be able to back up Perk or Garnett for a few minutes per game after I saw him in summer league. He has not done anything wrong to persuade me otherwise. His passing is very good too, although he didn’t have any assists tonight. His defense was very good as well. All positive here.
Based purely on the box score Rondo is struggling. 2 assists and 5 TO’s is the reverse ratio you want, and could’t hit the side of the barn shooting. Not good so far. Tony Allen 2 for 15 from the field? Good lord.Glad to hear his getting his hops back, but 2-15?……..15? Pass Tony Pass ;D
Nice stat line for Big Baby
9 assists for Tony, Po! Perhaps he should have had 20? ;D

Hey Jeff, you should link to celticballa32’s recap of the game, it’s really good.

Davis is making it easier to forget about Al Jefferson. He was a steal in the 2nd round. This guy is a very good basketball player. He is smart, and talented. He will contribute meaningful minutes off the bench. Don’t understand the infatuation with Powe. Thought he had plenty of chances last season and did very little.
That was the Tony Allen of last Nov-Dec, not the T Allen of Jan. We must not expect too much too soon. Rondo too, has a long way to go judging by last night. And E. House, G Pruitt weren’t so good either. But the potential was there and we won’t go undefeated but we’ll be good when the guard play rounds out.
I agree with all. Big Baby looks like a steal in 2nd round
it was a good game for tony, not that he played well but in that he got the chance to explore where he is at in his game- good for doc in giving him that. he is a ways away- not too much hops in the legs. we know what scal can/t do and he played way too much- wallace needed some of the time. you can see the work on defense coming from thibedeau’s schemes. they dug in on d. big baby makes things happen. rondo was lost in the fun house.
Can Big Baby play backup center? And, if necessary, starting center?

I watched the game on YES. Rondo looked horrible- his offense is deplorable and he was out of control on many possessions. I forgot how quick TonyA is and explosive. He was awful shooting, but being very active is a good sign. The only really good thing about the game was Big Baby- took good shots, made most of them, active on defense and had 3 blocks I believe. This guy is a player!

Powe is the better defender? Not yesterday! BBaby took three charges, had 3 blocks, two on “help” defense, rebounded his position (didn’t get moved underneathe like Powe did on several occasions). Alas, Davis did “almost” everything…but he didn’t have one assist (because the guys he dished to didn’t make their shots).
Davis didn’t play a perfect game but he came very close. Doc may have thought to give Powe extended PT and Davis limited PT but production has a way of getting one’s attention.
The next step for Davis is to refine his skills and LEARN the NBA game…what you can do to gain an edge and what you can’t do… Along the way he’ll learn how best to defend certain players etc., how to create daylight inside, learn the subtleties of “fakes” to earn trips to the foul line…
Tony Allen was out of control tonight but he emphasized the value of PLAYER MOVEMENT to help shed and tire a defender. I was also surprised that his crossover dribble, change of direction and speed mach-one . With better handles he could create havoc with his penetrations. He’s showing rust from the long layoff but his athleticism seems to be O.K. and mending well.

Tony was impressive to me. Clearly his shot is off and he’s not quite feeling himself, but I can see that he’s pressing and get the feeling that he could return to that form of last year(pre-injury). How great would that be? I think he could play PG. We’ll have to see how this Perk thing pans out, but what about this for the second unit?
PG – Tony Allen
SG – House
SF – Posey
PF – Baby
C – Powe
Maybe with both Powe and Baby, we can hold our own on the boards and with D even though neither is that tall.
