Those were the right cuts.

Agreed. I was a bit surprised at Jones though. He seemed like he had upside. I guess we’re not real interested in upside the next year or so.

good decision. i wish ’em well.

Make room for AW -— Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I almost forgot Manuel was on the team to be honest. His days have numbered for so long.

I think both fall out of the league for the year. Maybe Miami takes a run at Dahntay but I don’t see a big market (serious interest) for either guy.

Wallace the heir appearant (of Scal’s role).

Speaking of cuts well sort of. Bad cuts of meat anyway The Wolves chewed on the foul tasting Mark Blount long enough, they couldn’t swallow it and puked him back up and sent him to Miami. Just a visual for you.

Down to 14? Toine maybe being bought out? PJ rumors flying? Something is going on . . .

by tmcdon on Oct 25, 2007 2:16 PM EDT reply actions

So Po….looking forward to Antoine’s return then I take it…MEATY, yum!!!

I’d rather have Walker than Brown.

by Brickowski on Oct 25, 2007 3:06 PM EDT reply actions

AW or Michael Doleac? Which would you prefer?

When Antoine plays on the block, passes, and rebounds he’s a great talent. It’s been getting him to do those things that has frustrated his coaches and the fans. As long as he stays within 15ft of the basket he’ll do great things.

Don’t forget how great he was in that 25pt fourth quarter comeback against the Nets! Antoine can be a very very valuable asset off the bench.

I believe they have until Monday to cut players. If the right 2 players get cut from other teams there might be another cut/trade to the C’s roster.

Congratulations to Brandon Wallace. You went from an undrafted college player to an NBA roster. Now please go learn your new position in the Developmental League, and justify our best hopes for you.

For mere sentimentality, it would be great to have Walker on the roster for limited minutes. However, he really isn’t needed because the team has plenty of forwards. The team needs a center and another ballhandler. Maybe Walker for backup PG??? Just kidding… (sort of).

Well, the Cs don’t care about body fat … just look at Big Baby.

by youngcrv on Oct 25, 2007 3:59 PM EDT reply actions

It would be a nice addition to have Walker here…. he has no problem bringing the ball up….

this will allow Pruitt and Wallace to play in the D League….

My only concern with Walker right now is his game shape…..

by Ancient Red on Oct 25, 2007 3:59 PM EDT reply actions

In keeping Brandon Wallace the Celtics went for upside, athleticism, a high BB IQ, size/length and versatility. They also displayed patience as it will take Wallace a couple of seasons to adapt to the SF position.

By contrast, neither Dahntay Jones nor Manuel had a similar upside and both were duplicates of players already on the roster. One dimensional players are common but there is a cautious optimism that Brandon Wallace could develop into a COMPLETE player.

I was a strong Antoine fan and took a lot of grief for it but I liked him. But we have three stars now, don’t need him. Posey is as big a “star” support as we need. Let’s go to war with these 14.

Pruit, Davis, and Wallace (along with Rondo, Perkins, and Powe) represent the future development of the Celtics. GAP is definitley the here and now, but that window is 5-6yrs at the most. That gives the brass time to bring Wallace, Pruitt, and Davis along slowly and develop them as opposed to the pressure put on previous youth to develop and contribute later. Powe and Perkins will continue to improve, improve, and improve into more and more solid contributors/role players. Wallace has some athletic gifts that if given some time to learn his position and gain confidence may eclipse all even current optimistic expectation.

should read:

“to the pressure put on previous youth to develop and contribute NOW.” My bad

by tmcdon on Oct 25, 2007 4:45 PM EDT reply actions

As long as he stays within 15ft of the basket he’ll do great things.

Except hit free trows. Which has a domino effect on the rest of his game.

by kozlodoev on Oct 25, 2007 6:05 PM EDT reply actions

Any other move not involving a center or pg is a moronic move.

by flyfisher on Oct 25, 2007 6:16 PM EDT reply actions

Good move. Gives them flexibility to pickup another player. If Walker is bought out, (I do appreciate what ‘Toine did for the C’s when he was here), I don’t think he’s the player we need. I think our first need is a servicable Big. Second is a backup point. I think Eddie House helps the team more as a 2 guard. His spreading the floor and shooting is what we need from him and playing point takes that away. TA might be able to do the job, but he’s not ready yet and when he is it will also take away from what he does best, flash to the basket and shoot from outside in rhythm. I just have a hunch that DA may already have made a decision.

They should’ve kept Dantay Jones.
Jones can do things that Tony Allen can’t do at this time !

Walker is not a good fit for this team.

doesn’t every team need a chucker?
Nope- stay away AW

good for wallace, even tho he has been a figment in the preseason. no aw,please. we need a biggie. doleac is 6’11’- need i say more.

by nazzbo on Oct 25, 2007 9:29 PM EDT reply actions

Nazzbo, you may be on to something. Not that I want to see it done, but what if taking Toine is the price for getting McHale to give us Doleac?
