How sweet it is!

Bring on the regular season already!

by NYDan on Oct 26, 2007 9:29 PM EDT reply actions

Wow, the passing was awesome, led by KG! Everyone had good assist numbers. KG -10, Rondo and Paul with 6 and Perk and Allen with 4. Amazing!

Sorry, I didn’t mean to say Ray had 4 assists, he had 2.

by Bankshot on Oct 26, 2007 9:32 PM EDT reply actions

I noticed that Big Baby logged some solid minutes this game, and Scalabrine didn’t (and neither did Powe). Maybe this is a sign of how Doc will use the rotation in the regular season – that’d be great if it was.

Starting 5, Baby, House, Posey all looked real good. Watched on ESPN.

Baby needs to take many of Scal’s normal minutes. We need Perk, Baby, (Pollard or new guy as centers). Keep KG out of the middle.

Lebron, learn how to say, former Eastern conference champions.

For the record, I don’t want any part of Antioine Walker. Whatever money we are going to be spending we better get a PJ Brown type guy because if Perk goes down we are very weak at the “5”.

On the point, it will take time for Rondo, but I think he “gets it” as the point. Decent “d”, lots of steals, good drives to the hoop.

Beauty passes by KG to Perkins. PP still has that take it to the rim and make it happen, although he was a little raggy turning the ball over several times at the end of the 1st half. Ray Allen is super smooth.

I saw Danny being interviewed on Espn during the game. Danny looks like he put on a few lbs. Too bad I don’t live in Boston, I’d take him out for my 6:30 am runs. Get out of the buffet line Danny and get me a solid big man to back up Perk. Baby looks promising but I don’t want to take any chances, I want a banner. Now put down that fork.

that was one sweet game. kg and ra were super. paul got the game going slashing to the hoop, but he got into bad habits monopolizing the ball into 5 turnovers. a tale of 2 halves for rondo. house will make you cry for joy or just cry. scalapini was a weinie. doc left kg on the floor too long in the 4th quarter. i love posey.

40 points from the bench … gonna be a good year.

by Steve_M on Oct 26, 2007 10:06 PM EDT reply actions

Finally decided to check in on the C’s before the regular season gets underway …

The bench would look a lot better with a)Scal nailed to it full time, and b) a veteran point guard.

They’re are going to be thin up front, especially when playing teams with plenty of good bigs like Detroit. Otherwise, I like the way Perkins looks so far. Nobody else is really worthy of back-up minutes at the 4 & 5 spots.

Popovich would never put up with Pierce’s antics. PP never would have gotten past the first 1 on 4 move before he would be asked to sit and talk it over with the coach. Rivers needs to grow a pair.

Should be an interesting year. Quite a few are picking the C’s to go to the finals, but just as many think they’ll top out at the second round. Rasheed Wallace apparently is unimpressed with the Celtics line-up. I really have no idea how good this team can be.

I thought the D was strong, but too much 1-on-1 at the offensive end. I know part of the reason is spacing, but you just don’t see many hard cuts or off-the-ball picks in Doc’s offense.

I liked what Rajon did, attacking the basket in the 2nd half. If he looks for his own shot just a little more, he’ll have a great year.

There was a stretch there in the 4th quarter where KG was the lone member of the Big Three playing with the others. You could tell he was feeling it, directing traffic and demanding the ball. He has Larry Bird-like intensity, and he is quickly becoming my favorite current Celtic. Dress rehearsals over, guys, let the games begin. The game was on ESPN, did you see it, Po?

by halfman/halfoyster on Oct 27, 2007 5:43 AM EDT reply actions

I’d have to disagree with Eddie’s comment about too much one on one. There were maybe two or three times during the game when Pierce forced a one on one move and turned it over, but they had 34 assists on 45 hoops! What are you looking for??? :-) I’d say the passing was almost as good as it gets, and they were very unselfish. They had a few turnover issues, but too much one on one is not one of their problems.

Tons of fun to watch, though. Their intensity was way up, the crowd was fully into it, and this season’s going to be insanely entertaining. Great stuff.

Watching the game last night I just loved the ball movement. So many easy baskets.

by davehast on Oct 27, 2007 6:59 AM EDT reply actions

When played the right way, this is the most beautiful game on earth. Just beautiful.

As for the off-the-ball movement, it was definitely there. It’s just that guys making cuts were usually covered pretty well. People forget that Cleveland is a very, very good defensive club. That makes the 35 assists even more impressive.

we’ve got the horses for sure….when we choose to use the bench we’re fine but when we must use the bench we’re a bit thin…PJ puts us over the top as a backup point will be easy to find by next spring…right around 50 wins will do the trick

by Motown on Oct 27, 2007 7:56 AM EDT reply actions

I think Cleveland is going to go out and immediately pay Pavlovich and Varaejo what they want after this. If you are Lebron, you can’t be thinking that you are the better team by any stretch. Anyone think Lebron was thinking ‘’why couldn’t we have gone out and gotten KG’’ at any point last night? They aren’t close even with signing back the other 2.

Big Baby was a little disappointing last night. More stupid turnovers and dumb fouls. Not one rebound in 14 minutes. Where is everyone slamming him on that? If that was Scal, he would have been slaughtered on here. Powe had 3 boards in 4 minutes. BB has had one good game at this point. Powe has proven that he can come in and play hard defense and get rebounds. No way that BB should be taking his minutes yet. He can’t play defense.

by EJPLAYA on Oct 27, 2007 9:27 AM EDT reply actions

Yes halfman/halfoyster i saw it and loved it. We have really got something here.

KG – just wow (Doc left him too long IMO)
Ray Allen – better than I thought. He is very composed on the floor.
PP – terrible game. He can and must do better than this.
Perk – perfect compliment to GPA especially KG. Great tandem and KG smart enough to see Perk at every opening. Perk with great outlet passes.
Rondo – much improved. Still needs more layup attempts and shots but he played very well.

Posey, House and BB – very nice games. These should be the first three off the bench. Then Powe.

Scali – simply pathetic.

We really have something if Doc can rotate and PP can find the right composed flow.

Peace

Agree with you PLAYA….Davis did an excellent imitation of Scal on the boards last night.

Backup point. Backup center, please, Danny.

This is much more fun to watch. Hard not to love Garnett no matter who’s uniform he’s wearing. Just glad he’s wearing green.
