Team Looks To Extend Tony Allen's Contract
For those looking for an early idea of how well Tony Allen is doing, I would say this is a really good sign (no pun intended). The team will look to extend Tony's contract. Bulpett reports:
The Celtics have until the end of this month to sign Tony Allen to a contract extension, and Paul Pierce thinks it might behoove the club to get on it.
After just a few days of training camp, the club has indeed seen enough from Allen to believe he will recover well from his left knee reconstruction. Danny Ainge acknowledged yesterday that the team needed to be sure with his health before proceeding.

Defintely a good sign. Obviously, he’s making progress. Seems to me that a three year deal is probably in the best interest of both parties. The C’s can avoid any serious risk in case he gets injured or never returns to pre-injury form, while retaining his bird rights, and Tony can work his way back with full confidence that he has a contract and become and UFA in three years in the middle of his prime. 3 years, about ten mil make sense?
I am a tony Allen fan from the begining and thinks an extension is in order. I would go 4 years at about 3 mil. he should at that point be entering his prime and suited as a replacement for Ray Allen as a starter. he would be a resitrcted free agent at worse.
