Boston Celtics/New Jersey Nets: 11/10/07 - Open Game Thread
Once again I have to work during the start of this one. However, I should be able to catch some of the game tonight. Meanwhile, one of the biggest complaints against the NBA, is that with so many regular season games a lot of them do not matter. Well it is only the fifth game of the season and it feels like this one matters. The Nets have gotten off to a 4-1 start and the Celtics are sitting at 4-0. It is shaping up as an early statement game. Also it is the first back-to-back for the Celtics this year and they are on the road. Although I would never call New Jersey an intimidating place to play. Finally the Celtics will be without James Posey and Brian Scalabrine. It will be interesting to see if Scot Pollard gets his number called to match up against the Nets' bruisers. And it is imperative that Rajon Rondo and Kendrick Perkins stay out of foul trouble and Eddie House plays well again. Overall it is nice to have a big game in November.

RE:
- I'm impressed with Big Baby. He doesn't have the best shot, but he's a banger on the boards and really cleans up the messes.
- Tony Allen looks out of place. He doesn't seem to have the feel like he's had in previous seasons.
- Garnett. Wow. That boy can rebound.
- Allen. Wow. That boy is not afraid to shoot.
- Piece. Wow. Still the same old Pierce.
- Eddie House looks good. The guy seems comfortable coming off the bench. His shot is great so far.

Closing out
Big Baby was quite solid on the boards and showed some nice passing abilities for a REALLY big man. I'm glad he's getting some quality minutes and not spending the winter in the D-League.
Eddie House has been a consistent contributor and will be a key part of this team as they slog through the season.
The lead was big enough that it could withstand a late NJ run. Of course, Doc is coaching like a college coach now going with only 3 men off the bench, which is fine with me. I'd expect to see more of the rest of the bench going forward.
Other than that, it's nice to put together a solid effort on the back end of a back-to-back series and against their biggest challenge for winning the division.
