Scal, Posey out for tonight's game

Marc Spears reports :
Forward Brian Scalabrine suffered a concussion in the fourth quarter of the Celtics' 106-83 victory over the Hawks last night at TD Banknorth Garden. Scalabrine was coherent when he was taken from the arena in uniform on a stretcher to New England Baptist Hospital for observation, but isn't expected to play tonight against the Nets. Forward James Posey missed last night's game with lower-back spasms and isn't expected to play tonight.

"[Tonight's] going to be tough because not having Scal, most likely, not having Posey . . . ," said coach Doc Rivers. "Like I say all the time, we pay them all. Someone's going to step up. Tony Allen's going to step up. Somebody's going to step up for us."
Hopefully Scal has a speedy recovery.  For all the grief he gets at times, he's a more NBA-ready player than Leon Powe, Big Baby Davis, or Brandon Wallace.  Hopefully, he isn't missed tonight.

As much grief as we give Scal he’s 100x better than any of us will ever be at basketball.
Quick recovery Veal! Hope all is well!

What a treat to hear the Garden chant his name during the last two home games.

Not a big fan of Scal but glad he’s alright. Didn’t look as bad as it was. Horford’s a big guy. Posey a concern also. Never know about back problems.

Hopefully whoever fills in in the rotation takes advantage of the opportunity.

Yep. It was a great treat to hear the cheers for the fan favorite white guy. Mission accomplished!

“he’s 100x better than any of us will ever be at basketball”

pretty faint praise, no?

I like Scal, hope he gets well soon, and loses his minutes to Powe and possibly Davis and maybe even Pollard by the end of the season.

Heal up Veal!

agree with tmcdon and PJ – get well Scal.

agree with Perk – Powe will step up

and TA – please don’t dribble too much – you scare me when you do. TA will only get better and better but his dribbling is….

Maybe we’ll get lucky and this will be Scal’s “Wally Pip” moment. Of course, knowing Doc, look for KG to play 48 minutes tonight.

The three are now averaging 37-38 minutes per game, which is not too bad. If we can cut another minute from these times, it will be perfect.

Let’s give Scalabrine a nice long rest and see what Powe and Davis can do. The team will be better for it.

Scals white?!?!?!? That explains alot. (boy, I need to adjust the color on my set) ;D

Big Baby grabbed more rebounds tonight than Scal grabs in a week. Doc seriously overrates what Scal does in terms of ‘spacing’ — it’s not like he’s Dale Ellis out there. Scal’s absence will not be an issue for this team. Posey we may miss.
