Did KG get any shots in the 4th quarter? What’s overlooked is awesome last basket by Paul. After he played a lousy game we needed someone to step up and he did. Terrific job by Posey too- without him, we lose that game.
Doc’s gotta make sure they don’t lose focus like that again. No way a team like ours goes 6 minutes in the 4th without a point…
hate to say it,but we deserved to lose this game…letting a 15 point lead slip with 9 minutes left…Gotta step on some throats with that lead.

Deserve or not. I’ll take the W. Good teams find a way to win games they shouldn’t

They all aren’t going to be pretty. That was an ugly 4th quarter, but it was light years better than anything I saw last year. It seemed like Paul reverted to his old ways-trying to do it all. I think at times he forgets that he has KG and Ray out there with him.

Yeah, maybe this was good for the team…hope they’ll learn to play all 48 minutes even with a huge lead.

Just another day at the office.
OOPS, never mind.

No bench.
For a team with no bench, Posey may win the 6th Man of the Year award. And how do like those apples?

How to stay focused!
We fell asleep out there being up 15 midway in the 3rd. The solution, instead of having some dude streaking at a European soccer game, we need some big breasted woman to flash these guys during a timeout in the 3rd Q or no later than the start of the 4th.

Actually we needed Doc to call a timeout BEFORE the lead got down to 4.

Can Doc and his coaches please find a couple of hours to get together and work out a rotation that works for this team? I know these things take time — even Popovich, after all these years, has to figure out how to work Duncan’s minutes — but these panicky substitutions and taking people out for a minute and a half are crazy. Sometimes we need to ride the wave, even if it means GPA aren’t all out there when it would be better if they were. He needs to rely on the bench players to do their job and not worry about getting jerked if the other team makes a run. And he needs to keep the minutes down, of course.
i’m not a doc man but i don’t have any bad words about his coaching tonight other than he is playing ray allen way too much. if he does not have any faith in tony as a sub for ray, play pruitt for a few mins. when scal was not on his game, doc got him out. ray got his points and passed well but did not play a good game. he dribbled the ball way too much and slowed down the offense and was missing. money in the bank on free throws though.
scal was absolutely atrocious today. it was painful to watch. i also think tony could’ve played a little more when wade was heating up. they’re lucky wade missed because he was wide open on that last shot. pose was two feet away from him. other than that posey was next to perfect today. what a signing.
the offense is stuttering though. let’s see… who’s in charge of the offense?? hmmm…
oh yeah, rondo also played a great game.
I would hardly call Rondo’s game great. It was okay at best. On offense, he seems to be becoming more and more like Sebastian Telfair with each game. Dribbling way too much, dribbling from side-to-side on the perimeter, no drive and dish. Doc was nervous enough to put House in late in the game, but he’s no better than Rondo at running a half court offense. This is still a trouble area for the C’s.

It’s a good thing box scores don’t show pictures. We’ll take the W. The Celtics didn’t execute down the stretch. I feel like the three “big” guys made some poor decisions and bad plays to end the game.
Posey was that bench guy who stepped up tonight and Rondo had an ok game. What a big shot he hit at the end though! This just in, the kid can shoot!
One thing is for sure, if they play like this on Sunday you can put one down in the loss column.
Doc sure was awful on the court tonight, couldn’t get his shot off, didn’t pass to his teammates. Funny how we can go 8 games without a loss and all of it has to do with the players, can’t be the coaching, it is talent that wins, yet win things go wrong, ON THE COURT, of course it is Doc’s fault. Geeze, the Heat are 1-8, what is wrong with this Riley guy, doesn’t play Shaq enough, plays Ricky Davis too much, etc, etc. Coaches get way too much credit when teams win, including Riley’s and Popovich’s champs, and too much blame when they lose. However, if the irrational in this community insist on casting blame for every wart on Doc(have they lost yet?), then they MUST give him credit when we win, you simply cannot have it both ways.
The Heat went “small” about the 6 minute mark. I wish Doc would have countered by going “big” with Perk for rebounds and defense. Doc has the “horses” now and he can dictate to the other team instead of always catering to the other team. Perk for Allen or Pierce down the stretch would have been my deceison. But what to I know – But I did sleep at a Holiday Express last night. Other than that, Doc is doing a good job this year. It is amazing how good players make good coaches!
In the Podcast comments posted above, it says that Posey played great defense on Wade during that last shot. Sure, he didn’t let him drive towards the hoop, which is his strength, but most NBA players will hit a shot from the top of the key without a defender contesting the shot 75% of the time. We were lucky D-Wade bricked it.

I agree completely. Wade had one and half to two feet of space from 20 feet out to measure up that jumper. He just missed.
As a long time Scalabrine supporter I have to concede today to Master Po and the other Scal attack dogs. Yes, he was atrocious last night. But Doc did sit him down pretty quick. Big Baby will start getting those minutes. They do over-rate Scal’s 3 pt shot.
What’s with the Rondo criticism. The kid was good. He did pull the ball up each time when I thought he should try a coast-to-coast but he’s been blocked a lot and I’m sure will when he gets a little more savvy. He hit a very clutch shot. Very clutch.
I agree with the posters who defend Doc. Miami is 2 years from an NBA ring and they are wounded. Very dangerous. A close game is not an indictment of Doc for chrissakes. They had the right players on the floor but Miami had a desparate push. To hang on and win is the true statement more than the 4th Qtr poor play.
