Charlie Rosen Is Not A Rondo Fan
Charlie Rosen's thing seems to be taking one game he watched and extrapolating absolute truths that he alone is wise enough and brave enough to say. For instance he lists reasons why the Celtics will and won't win the championship based on the Cleveland game. Here's his take on Rondo:
Rondo is not capable of running a big-time ball club. Not only can't he shoot, but he can't finish in half-court sets, and his judgment is questionable. During the overtime period, Rondo fired up a silly 18-footer, and then also missed a layup. Because he's such a bricklayer, the Cavs routinely went under (and therefore stymied) any screen/roll in which he was involved.

I’m sure alot of Celtics Fans are not Charlie Rosen fans either. This guy is so moronic it makes me laugh. It’s kind of hard to tell what a 2nd year PG can do being he is so young. Also let’s all watch Sunday when the C’s beat Cleveland on our court and see what he says then. Nothing would be the answer.

Ahh Charlie Rosen. Good to see you’re still annoying.
Rondo’s jumper in OT was a decent look and he’s made a couple big ones so far this year, I was fine when he took it. It was unfortunate that he nearly shattered the glass with it however. That’s not a good example of questionable judgement.
Unfortunately, I do agree that Rondo doesn’t finish at the rim very well. He gets blocked far too frequently.
That article makes me ANGRY. That is a clear cut example of someone taking one game and basing an opinion on it. Rondo has proven all season he can make the outside shot when left alone. However, that comment I can at least understand. What I can’t understand is how he could say that he doesn’t finish well in half court sets. Rosen must be high, because Rondo is an excellent finisher when getting to the basket. Further more, his decision making has been superb all season, and is a big reason we are 11-2.
I actually love the fact that other teams, coaches and critics feel that Rondo is the weakness of this team. I hope they continue to give him open jumpers, not respect his ability to get to the rim with the best of them and of course make split second decisions on when to pass and shoot.
Rondo is top 25 in the leauge right now in assists, steals and fg. He is also only averaging 2 turnovers in 33 mpg. That is a turnover ever 16.5 minutes. From the point guard spot, that is extraordinary, especially from a young point guard who makes “bad decisions.” So imagine the irony of someone calling out Rondo for bad decision making, when he’s shooting 52 from the floor and only turning it over once every 16.5 minutes from the point guard spot.

Well I am a Rondo fan however Rosen has a point in that Rondo isn’t quite ready to run the point as yet.
I attribute Rondo’s lack of readiness partly to Doc’s coaching.
It seems all Doc wants Rondo to do is get the ball over the half court dump off the ball to Pierce, Allen, or Garnett and move out the way, essentially the C’s are playing 4 on 5 ball on offense with Rondo in the game.
Rondo seems to hardly ever drive the ball into the paint and threaten the rim with the way Doc is running the offense, so the defense can and has dropped off of him to help on other players, and if the ball finds its way back to Rondo he is either forced by the clock to shoot or he looks to pass to another player as fast as possible.
Rondo is play is hurting the team and Doc’s coaching of Rondo is so unimaginative it stinks.
I heard and agree with Cousy and Heinsen who says Rondo should be a lot more aggressive with the ball if he really wants to help his team to be more effective on offense.
He’s cat quick and there are very few players who could prevent Rondo from penetrating and still Rondo isn’t penetrating.
What’s up Doc ?
Why does anyone care what Rosen says? Let’s not get into the fact that he’s obviously only watched one game the Celtics have played, let’s not get into the fact that he hasn’t played, or coached, basketball at any level that would lend credibility to anything he says, let’s not get into the fact that he hasn’t made an astute observation that panned out long term as long as anyone can remember. Forget all of that and just ask the question: why do you, or why does anyone, care on iota what this guy has to say?

Yeah. That’s because they take the ball out of his hands. You can’t turn it over when you don’t have it.
As for bad decisions – he shot 1-9 last game and made 2 bone-headed plays in overtime. How is this for bad decisions with the game on the line?
Rondo is not ready people may dislike this guy. Living over in Dubai and having to watch Rondo run the team on NBATV highlights is gut wrenching. I wish Big Baby was 2 inches taller or had Ben Wallace’s athletic ability. He is far better then Perk. I like this team but the analysts all have their points and most are accurate. I like Boston’s bench only if and only if Tony Allen can make his way back by mid February and shake off his mental weakness about his leg. Rondo will stay I’m sure but I hope that Pruitt get some playing time because he has a far superior jump shot then Rando. Speaking of comparing the two, people should check out Nbadraft.net and look at their profiles. It’s interesting Rajon has zero points in two columns.
