Powe vs. Davis Gets Chippy
A seemingly innocuous workout today was spiced by a battle between Glen Davis and Leon Powe. The two were working in a drill after the regular session when Davis decided he’d taken too many hits from the latter.
The rookie began yelling at Powe, who listened for a while then said he was willing to fight if that’s what Davis, nursing a bloody nose, wanted.
"That means they don’t want to," said Doc Rivers, who was speaking at the other end of the court.
The matter was soon cooled, with Paul Pierce and others intervening.

Powe would wreck BBD. Probably the wrong guy to mess with.
I can see why these two would tangle; they’re battling for minutes, and Powe is an enforcer, whereas BBD is a little more finesse. It’s good for the rookie to get played tough in practice, so he knows what it’s going to take to compete in the league.
This used to happen all the time when the team was good in the ‘70s and ’80’s. The practice scrimmages were often tougher than the games. I hope Doc can find some playing time for these two. Alot is probably frustration from not playing last night, but this is going to be a fact of life from here on.
footey, I think you might be right. Davis looks like the better player.

Powe’s reaction reminds me of the Jim Brown story. He’d been heckled by some guy and ended it with a stare and a “Do you think you can kick my ass?”

Scal is the one who should be cut…strictly on skill set and team need I keep Powe and BBD and use the roster space to sign a legitimate center…won’t happen unfortunately…my patience for Doc viz. this particular rotation is going to be very limited

I love it! You know me always the optimist but now, I’m through the roof…I used to end all post Keep the Faith, Restore the Pride. As we all needed the help in keeping the Faith through those years, and well those who lived through the dynasty understand the pride. Now I’ll have to think of a new send off, as the faith, and the pride seem to have returned.
