Comcast SportsNet Statement

A statement from Comcast SportsNet regarding yesterday's missed game winning shot against Toronto:
Our transmission vendor incorrectly dropped the feed at 5:30 p.m. despite pre-game instructions from us to keep the feed open until 6:00 p.m. and an in-game call before 5:30 reminding them to keep the window open.

CSN does not own the transmission lines from the arena and we rely on third parties to build a transmission path from the arena to our studios. Somewhere along the line, the transmission line closed at 5:30 and the feed went down. We were able to pick up audio via a backup phone line transmission of Mike and Tommy’s call.

We are as upset as anyone regarding the dropped telecast and we are working with our vendor to ensure that it does not happen in the future.
Certainly a regrettable situation, but one Celtics fans likely won't forget about soon. Hopefully there are many more game winning shots, aired on  TV or not, over the next few months.

Gobbledeegoop. CSN not off to a good start. Someone must be related to the guy who cut off the Heidi game.

Someone better get fired for screwing up something as simple as that. How hard can it be to not shut the feed off before the game is over?

Thanks for the apology CSN, now don’t let it happen again! That was awful!

Thanks for the info, but how about showing all the games in HD? It is 2007 right??

It was weak.
But I can get past it.

Agreed scooter. Celtics fans are going to the home games. How can we not see the away game in HD? Comcast needs to get back on the ball.

Sound corporate strategy. Blame some other company. Comcast should buy a round of drinks for everyone affected.

Talk about passing the buck, try taking some responsibilty. They took over the station, can’t see fit to give it a permanent HD channel on their own cable systems, while every Home, Garden and cooking show has their own HD station, now they are blaming the loss of feed on their vendor? It doesn’t inspire alot of confidence to inform us that this is ‘out of their control’ as far as the future. What they are telling us is, even if they do everything right, they cannot help what their vendor might do or not do. That was an extremely unprofessional way to handle apologizing. True penance would be to get HD full time up and running ASAP. The best Celts team in 20 years, and the worst production to go with it. Sad…

In all the years the games where on Channel 4 and 56 this never happened. 2007 and they loose the feed. incredible

Why would there be instructions to close the line at 5:30 anyway?? Here’s a crazy idea. How about closing the line AFTER THE GAME IS OVER!! :o

Figured it was my local cable company getting even with me for all the dirty words I screamed at them over the phone to get NBA League pass turned on.

If they’re really sorry, they could pony up and show us a replay of the OT, in full, tonight or tomorrow night.

Maybe things have changed in the past few years, but in my business the vendors work for me, as I work for my customers.
More is required than a simple off hand apology. Heads need to roll.
