Boston Globetrotters!
The play late in the 4Q where Scal went down epitomizes why he gave up his boxing career for basketball.

With Scalabrine sidelined, I don’t see how the Celtics can possibly win another game.

once again, every time Doc coaches, this team wins easily :D

i could be wrong but didn’t last year’s team win 6 in a row? kg is the man magnified 10 times. house was the difference other than kg. he sure can shoot and spreads the floor. horford’s knockout of scal reminded me of ali’s ko of liston. i do hope he’s ok and maybe powe gets his chance and delivers. big baby too.

5 games in a row was the best we did last year

Looks to me like you’re getting beat off the drivel, Playa. Here’s the chance for Ainge tomorrow night. Only buy a one-way ticket for Scalabrainy to Exit 16W. Perhaps Rod Thorn still has some love for that wild and crazy redhead.
I’m sure no one wants to see Veal get flattened or with sauce coming out of his nose. But maybe this is the chance for Wallace to get in there.
Seems like Doc has been giving Rondo the “come over and sit next to me for a while, son” treatment the last two games. Rajon appears to be fiddlin’ and diddlin’ more than he should of late.
The Hawks seem to be much improved but unless they get a big game from Josh Smith they are not a threat. Acie Law and Al Horford look like two solid picks, however. Unlike Marvin Williams, they both know how to play the game.
Gotta love Garnett. You can call them the Big Three or Whatever, but Garnett is the guy that makes it happen. I was hollering for Rivers to take him out with 2 minutes plus remaining in the half to prevent a third personal. As usual, the current was running a little slow in our coach’s brain.
Aside to Jeff: Guess this means the undefeated season goes down the barge tomorrow night since Rivers will be in Chicago? The Nets will be rested and ready at home. Should be the toughest test of the young season for the C’s.

lemonadesky, why would Doc take KG out to prevent a foul? KG almost never fouls out. He’s a smart player, and he doesn’t need that kind of treatment. You could leave him in the game with 5 fouls and he’d figure ut how to stay on the floor.
On another note: how beautiful is the game of basketball when played the right way? I was most impressed with the amoeba-like defense. The rotations are so seemless that it doesn’t look like players moving, but rather waves of water rolling in and then receding from the shore. Just beautiful.

No question. I had no idea the game could be played like that – the defense, the passing, the rebounding – just outstanding.

Nice win against a scrappy team. When was the last time you saw PP take 3 charges in one game? The usual great stuff from Pierce, Allen & KG, but House was the bench player of the night. He hit some clutch shots. Rondo had a nice game with 7 assists & 3 steals.
They are pass happy, which is leading to turnovers. If they can cut back on the TO’s they’ll be dominating almost every night.

doc is doing okay and i dont mean to downplay his effort, but i could
make sure the allstars were in there at crunch time. lets see how he
does in a back to back scenario. its important to rest the stars
when were up by 20 and only 4 minutes to play, maybe start taking
out a couple of the stars. but not like the first couple blowouts
where the opposing team already had there 1st string out and we still
had ours in,whats the point of fatigue or injury happening because of
slow coaching decision

I agree Perk.
After 4 games I looked at the Celtic Big 3 minutes this season verse their carrer min. per game. All 3 are about the same as they have averaged for their careers.
Personally, I would probably keep it about there until after we have played 10 games and hopefully we are 8-2 or in that neighborhood. Slowly then I would try to cut back at least 3 min. per player as the long season wears on.
I do like that we are setting the tempo (only undefeated team in the NBA).
Not all minutes are equal. When we are up by 15-20 pts late in the third Q, our team looks relaxed and it is not the pressure minutes you normally have in a close game. Plus, these 3 are all feeding off each other, so the offense isn’t falling squarely on one player’s shoulder like it has for each of them at times in their past.
Last night Doc didn’t take the starters out until there was only 4 or 5 min. left in the game when in reality he could have probably safely subbing in for the big 3 with 8 min or more left. Maybe we only win by 14 instead of 19 pts but really unless you are in Vegas giving the points, who cares?

Need to find a way to keep KG’s mins around 35 or fun will end in 2nd round of the playoffs.

Why did Doc keep the big guys in. All you need do is listen to KG and PP at the post game press conferences. The team had something like 21 turnovers, mostly by PP and KG. Both players essentially say every nite that they need to get better. You get better by playing in real games, not practices. Doc often cancels practice to rest the players. Also, the longer they play in real games the better their bodies get used to it. Also, last nite, Atlanta is capable of scoring alot of points in a hurry. The point is to win the game, not worry about minutes, especially not in this getting used to each other period. It continues to amaze me. We are 4-0, we’re seeing the best basketball played in over 20 years and we can still search for reasons to put Doc down. And I mean search as in reach.

last year at this time, tony a was dribbling the ball off his foot and running into people, this year he is plain slow. we need him and i hope he progresses. he is not getting big minutes and is not causing major damage and i credit doc for easing him through the paces.

I was only kidding about Doc doing a great job. My mom could “coach” this team to the finals.
Only if she lets these players play in a system where the players make the decisions during the game. This team doesn’t need a coach who will call every play, even stop a fast break to call a play. They also need a coach that will let the players work things out when they aren’t moving the ball or spacing properly. They need a coach who calls time outs when really needed.
