Ray Allen's Ankle Watch
Marc Spears reports on Ray Allen's ankle:
Ray Allen has been questioned recently about his career-low shooting numbers. Maybe a sore right ankle that he has kept quiet about has something to do with it.
The Celtics guard missed his first game of the season last night against the Bucks with an ankle injury suffered Nov. 24 at Charlotte. He is expected to test his ankle at practice today and it's uncertain if he will play tomorrow afternoon at Toronto. While with Seattle, Allen missed nine games last season with a right foot injury.
"I don't want to take a chance," coach Doc Rivers said before the Celtics' 104-82 victory over Milwaukee. "He wants to play. We have a lot of games left.
"My recommendation was to sit him [last night] and maybe even [tomorrow]. And then we have two days off after that and we'll go from there."

What I find disconcerting is that the ‘resting’ of the ankle comes more than 20 days after the injury. This does not bode well in terms of the severity of the injury or RA’s ability to heal. If it was lingering he probably should of sat before this. If it has worsened then that is of even greater concern.

I think they should start Tony A and let him get some large chunks of playing time. This would help Ray get back to 100% and allow Tony to really return to form. Who knows, maybe we should have Ray coming off the bench. He may play even better if he is the only star on the floor while kg and pp get their rest. Hard to reallly argue for any changes in the rotation through because we are 19 and 2. I just thinking that perhaps Ray’s minites should be linitted for a while. Tony gets better and Ray gets better
If ever there is going to be a chance to try it it would be after a couple games resting the ankle for Ray. If Tony starts again in Toronto and has another solid court performance than you could bring back Ray in the next game as a Super Sub, in the interests of “bringing him back slowly.” I just love the idea of having Tony out there to lock down on opposing two guards so they can’t get into a rhythm. Tony brings that. What he did to Redd was Impressive!
