Kobe Cheering Links

Yes, Kobe Bryant was cheered in the TD Banknorth Garden.  It happened.  Rock bottom?  Heck no, we hit that long ago.  We're swimming in hot magma now.

Enough with the “Kobe being cheered by the Celtics fans” stuff. I was there, and there were a few Lakers fans, and many Celtics fans. No one where I was sitting (rafters) left early. And there was one brief MVP chant at the very end of the game, but almost before it started, it was drowned out.

The Lakers are a flashy team, which has won 3 titles in the last 6 years — it would almost be surprising if they didn’t have fans everywhere. What is amazing to me is that the Celtics still have any fans left.

Favorite visiting team fan harrassment story: I’m watching a game at Yankee Stadium in the bleachers, and a kid, maybe 9 years old, peaks his head over railing from the right field stands, which are about 100 feet over some hard concrete. The Yankees fans notice this kid, who is wearing a Red Sox hat, and then the chant starts up: jump, jump, jump! Is that what we want?

Fascinating analysis of the lottery prospects. I would love to see updated numbers when the NCAA tournament is over. Also, Spencer Hawes is hurt (and of course Oden is playing left-handed) so I’m not sure how much predictive validity the numbers have in the case of those two players.

I really hope we don’t somehow miss out on Oden or Durant in this year’s draft. Either one of them would be money for the celts

green pride, the Kobe chanting may not have been that bad, I don’t know. But I live in L.A. and do not get to watch the celtics much. I watched the game with no sound, and had no idea what was going on. I got to work today and everyone was talking about the chanting of Kobe’s name. I couldn’t believe it. The radio shows and fans made it sound like half the Garden was Laker fans. I am supremely pissed off. I have to listen to Laker crap all day, and hate Kobe Bryant. We don’t have much to hold on to as Celtic fans… but we DID have our pride. I come from the Bird era and cannot believe this happened. I don’t care if they wispered KOBE it shouldn’t happen. We now have nothing left and are definately the laughing stock of the NBA. This sucks.

Thanks to green pride for shedding some reality on the horror. But, I’m afraid cblake is correct.
If the ten commandments of Boston Celtic fandom were written, surely one would be:
“Thou Shalt Not Cheer for a Laker — Ever!”

I was at the game sitting three rows in front of the back wall as well and saw the entire crowd from my seat – I am also the author of the article on CSLive linked above. It was not a minor contingency of Kibe/Laker fans – it was a disgrace. Red rolled over in his grave for the second time this season. Celticsstuff Live is broadcasting Monday night live from our website from 8-10pm EST and I dare any of you Kobe lovers posing as Celtics fans to call into the show and defend yourselves.
