If Doc starts Rondo for the rest of the season our shot at Durant and Oden is over. 8)

There’s no need for pessimism tonight. Gerald, Al, and Rondo are going to give us a solid future. You add Paul to that mix, plus either our upcoming top 2 pick or a Gasol-esque player we acquire in exchange for that pick/Theo’s contract….a solid team starts to take shape, with deep bench.
And yes, I know it’s only Bucks. But let’s savor it.

I say trade Gerald now for Gasol…His value must be on the rise. He was nasty tonight. If he wins the dunk contest, he’ll become an even better “marketable commodity.” As good as he may become, his replacement (A very good 3) can be found in this year’s draft
(picks 5-12). Do it. Throw in Ratliff and Telfair or West.
I love Gerald, but he’s not going to go 5-5 on 3’s too many nights. And defense would still be nice, wouldn’t it? The lack of early rebounding made me nervous.
I liked the fighting back after being down at the quarter, then sustaining it pretty much through the rest of the game. Because they had the lead, they didn’t slip into standing around to watch Pierce in the 4th and could keep up some passing and flow. A good sign.

A step up the street don’t mean we’ve walked off Desolation Row. These Bucks aren’t too good, especially without a certain Redd head. If you’re asking the man in me, I’d say we’re better off with Kidd and Gasol than we are with all these youngesters who score 18 points one night and the next day are tangled up in blue. Protect the pick so it’s still ours if we land top 3, but otherwise ship these clowns to a new rodeo and bring in the Spanish Rose and the wife beater from New Jersey. That team would have god on its side and should win around 48 games.

Great TEAM win tonight. Did you all see the glee on Al and Gerald faces to finally get the freaking money off their backs?
Re GASOL - I’ve watched him play at least a dozen games this year and I don’t want him in Boston. He is a terrific low post player but lacks defensive intensity and rebounding and he’s lazy. Oden or Ben Wallace is the answer. We need a stopper and not another low post offensive threat. We have the best young low post player in the NBA in AJ.
By the way no way should we let GMoney leave Boston. He is a total scoring machine like PP and when Paul packs it in three years GMoney will just move right into his slot. Their are a number of other youngs to move but not AJ, GMoney and Rondo. They are the future franchise team along with either Oden or Durant or Noah(depending on the luck of the ping pong balls). ;D
Gadzuric is out for about 5 more weeks with a dislocated shoulder. He could be had, but I don’t know if he’s the kind of ‘veteran presence’ this team needs.

The Celtics beat a road weary team without two of its best players (Redd and Villanueva) on the second night of a back-to-back. This win is right up there with some of the storied wins in franchise history. Let’s give Rivers a 5-year extension and hoist his name to the rafters. And while we’re at it, move over Marv Albert! Gary Tanguay is in the house!
The could have played a historic game against the Knicks on February 28th, instead, they will be just another lously team coming off an 0-5 (or perhaps a glorious 1-4) road trip.
yeah its rediculous gerald didn’t play more in the 3rd, but its not like this screwed up the game. i mean we did win by about 20

The win was great. I don’t think the Celts have to worry about or work at losing. Even if they stay healthy and play over .500 the rest of the way -say we go 16-15 or 17-14 and end up 29-53 - they will probably only pass Philly and Memphis in the standings (maybe a third team, but not likely). So with the third worst record they’ll still have a good chance at the number one, two or three picks (as noted often, Toronto and San Antonio provide good examples). That’s the way the NBA sets it up so teams are not trying to lose. If we play better than that, unlikely with the schedule, we will still get a much higher draft pick than we would have without the injuries. And there’s a very good chance our record will be .500 or a little worse which may keep us in the top two lottery positions.
So all these guys and Doc know that their performance over the last 25 to 30 games while they are healthy will receive a lot of emphasis in evaluating each for their role in the team’s future. They know it and will continue to work very hard for wins and we should be pulling for them. It will very positive for the team to develop and gain some confidence while the young guys to continue to develop individually. They should continue to play the young guys a lot, but the guys we are talking about (Rondo, Jefferson, Gomes, Green, Perkins and West) are pretty established in the rotation as it is. They really do not have to tank at this point. There’ll be some tough close losses along the way and we can still enjoy the silver draft lining in those losses. But I think it’s pretty safe to root for this team to win.

Do not trade Green at this point — period. He and Jefferson should be evaluated for at least one more year by the Celts. Their trade value is only likely to go up. Green is one year out of high school and his drop to the Celts in the draft shouldn’t be wasted, unless it gives you the final piece to a strong championship contender. I think and hope Ainge is thinking this way.

Danny sees what we all see, sitting the hot man in the 3rd does seem crazy. Doc should be questioned about that by Danny. If he has a good answer then fine. If the answer is “I thought that’s what the bloggers wanted me to do” or something like that, then Danny should file that in the “Doc out after this year” file. Coaches should be allowed to grow too. Mistakes in game tempo, substitutions etc can be grown out of. He does do a good job with morale. Doc’s decison making may have cost us a game or two in the streak but injuries and youth cost us most of them. Please stop with the “Fire Doc now” immaturity. This year needs to be ridden to its fate with players and coach intact rather than muddying the decisions to be made at year end with new faces. They simply can’t miss the the fact that Rondo is the #1 and D. West is a nice #2. They are conceding that Telfair was a mistake. If he can’t get minutes on an 0-17 team what other conclusion is there. We’re a much better team if Durant can replace Gomes at the #4 or Oden steps into the #5. But nothing shoud be changed until the ping pong balls drop except keep on trying to win. If they lose 3 or 4 out of 5 we’re still in the hunt for the Top Two and even with our players back we’re heading into tough schedule so losing will take care of itself
Actually, Doc reminds me a lot of Terry Francona, in terms of his style. Player’s coach, not the greatest fundamentally. Before Francona won the World Series, I thought he was a moron in terms of in-game decisions. Then he wins with a great team and he looks great. I really don’t have a point as I still think Doc should (and will) be fired after the season. But I thought I’d throw that out there.

why does paul need to play 36 minutes in a 20 point victory? might as well let him run the full 48? 0 rebounds – that indicates to me somthing ain’t completely right yet. He is a boarding machine — lets ease him back a lil slower.
I am not mad at any of the top 4 picks. all will help this team – oden, durant, bwright, noah (in no particular order). Heck jwright might not be a bad option either, he can be you 4 in a small lineup or 3 in big lineup — and is a solid defender.
“Doc is still an idiot who can not coach. Keeping him around will ensure a high draft pick but hinder the development of Rondo, Green, Powe and others.”
Which is why having him for the remainder of the season is the best situation. Sure it hinders some of the young guys for a season, but it will get us a high pick.
imo, I laughed out loud when I saw Scal still in the starting lineup. It may be even worse than him having started (gulp) Wally.
And why do people include Powe with the great potential future of this team? I like Powe, but come on now.
