Stop Me When You've Heard This Before
Wally twists his ankle and the Celtics lose a close one. (Box Score)
Also, Memphis got blown out and they are trying to trade their best player, yet WE are called "tankers."Â Yeah, that's fair.Â

And the new losing streak begins.
Speaking of Telfair, anyone notice what Brandon Roy did tonight?

“yeah lets trade for a former allstar on the decline… sounds like just what the celtics need….”
You mean the guy that’s averaging THIRTY a game over the last month and a half? That guy whose game is declining.
He’s not being dealt, don’t believe the hype.

Boston needs a center Al’s dong a fair job but Al isn’t the answer for that position. Notice in nearly every close game that Boston loses they lose because of poor interior defense and not getting key rebounds at the end of the games. That was also the case last night. At the same time Boston would get more opportunities on offense if they had a center that could get offensive rebounds, though Al does a fairly good job at getting offensive rebounds.
Rondo needs mid range shot and desperately needs to work on his free throws immediately to complete his game because this guy is going to be real good.
How many times have the Celtics shot over 50% and outrebounded the opposition and STILL managed to loose in Doc’s tenure?
Bottom line, the execution is awful with him at the helm. If Danny doesn’t get rid of him, he’s no better then Isiah as a GM.

While Jefferson may have defensive shortcomings we still can’t lay all the blame on him for lack of rebounding “at the end of games”. If Jefferson is our center, where is our “dominant” PF whose rebounding should complement that of Jefferson?
When your “undersized” center gets 15 rebounds in a game and has 25 double/doubles, how can you be critical if he doesn’t get ALL the rebounds at the end of games? Doesn’t it seem logical that the opposing team will make extra efforts to block him off the boards, especially in the critical closing minutes?

One wonders whether Wally ever heard of TAPING ones ankles, especially if they are prone to ankle sprains? Perhaps as a veteran he should consider consulting with Jefferson. Big Al strongly resisted having his ankles taped because he thought it would affect his mobility. His astounding string of double/doubles seems to discount “tape” as a significant hindrance.

Miccha" Boston needds a center.. poor interior defense..not getting key rebounds" / moskq: "we can’t lay all the blame on [Al].
Have to go with Moskq here. Re rebounds, Al batteled hard but waS fighting off 2 or 3 kings down under. Gomes and Scal were non-factors, then Doc went small. Powe might have helped, couldnt have hurt. As for
defense, the preimeter was leaking like a sieve much of the game. Gomes Scali (and Green) struggled. THis was a mathcup night where Gomes could not keep pace.

didn’t stay up because I knew this would be the outcome. so, can someone breakdown the last few possessions? I heard Doc didn’t use a timeout? shocker. I actually feel bad for Wally. He’s a competitor, but they’ve rushed him back so many times this year that his ankles are junk, so his legs are junk. Just shut him down for the season please, so he can be a factor next season.
Hard to blame the national media for calling us tankers when a good portion of our own fans feel that’s exactly what we are doing.
I can’t even count how many arguments I’ve had on the subject.
I suppose it’s easier for the koolaid drinkers to believe we are losing on purpose than it is for them to believe some of our “kidz” just aren’t good enough to compete.
Yes they shot a ton of free throws, but I read we were down 1 point with 2 minutes left. So throw out all of the other stuff and we still had a chance. The Kings apparently did nothing either but hit two foul shots. So it comes down to coaching and execution down the stretch. Doc has become the master of this. I think I broke it down last season looking at how many games we lost by 5 ponits or less. We win like half of those close games last year and we would have been a 5 or 6 seed in the East. I am just so sick of the coaching of this team. Doc’s best talent of losing close games is all he’s worth right now because it will land us a pick, but he has to go.
Ricky isnt exactly the best locker room guy…not sure why you seem upset that he is gone.
And how many effing times has Doc just “forgotten” to use a timeout on last possessions with a chance to tie, and the Cs end up forcing up a shot? The first thing you need as a coach is good common sense, and Doc has none of that!

Wally is a joke. the man sprained his ankle, and HE WAS HARDLY MOVING. didn’t jump, wasn’t running. he was STANDING next to Pierce. even when healthy, he’s the biggest defensive liability on the team. zero rebounding ability or passing skills. can’t create a shot for himself or anyone else. other teams just s%*t on him when he’s on D. he’s ankles are made of silicone.
I said it in the beginning, Ainge blew this one. Ricky brings much more to the table. i still think Telfair may develop (not ready to quit on him), Wally is DONE.
I agree that Wally sucks, but Ricky is still a me first type player and person. Hes exciting to watch, and deserves credit for how much hes matured, but judging by things Ive read and heard from when he was still on the team, I think Ricky would have hampered the development of…say…Al Jefferson.

No more might-have-beens, guys. We have what we have.
19 turnovers. 33 fouls. That undoes everything good we might do.
Whether Al is a 15 & 15 guy or a 20 & 12 guy, he still needs someone else in there.

Doc did call for a timeout. The refs didn’t give it to him. DWest could have called a timeout and didn’t. Also, timeouts in that situation gives the defense time to set up. For those blaming the missed free throws on Doc, I didn’t see Doc miss any. I also didn’t see Doc commit a turnover. But I agree. That’s all Doc’s fault. I know for a fact that in practice Doc emphasizes how to miss free throws and how to commit turnovers.
when the f*** did I say anything about missed FTs and turnovers? Im not talking just about last night…its happened several times where the Cs have had a chance to tie or win the game on the last possession, and Doc just “forgets” to call a to.
Thanks for putting words into my mouth, though.
