Without reading any of the articles, the best news is that Wally got sent home. Hopefully for the year. He needs to rest, Gerald needs to develop, and management’s intent obviously is to end up 13-69 so there’s no need to risk another injury. Wally will be a key to a playoff run next year if the youth isn’t so accustommed to losing they can’t recover. I still think long-term this intentional mismanaging of close games is going to hurt our youth’s confidence…even if it lands one of the two prizes.
ESPN may have given the Tics an F, but there were many many teams with worse grades than that, so it’s not all bad…in fact, they made the right decision (although getting rid of Wally would have been nice)…as for the above post, if we land one of the top 2 prizes, and they actually pan out, losing will be a thing of the past…we have many good excuses this year- next year the excuses won’t be acceptable.
Here’s why I believe Paul Pierce should be traded and/or Doc and Danny should be canned. This, from Phil Jackson after last night’s game, which says it all:
“That’s one of our problems in this game,” Jackson said. “We burn out players that are very talented when we place them around kids that can’t [play the way they need to]. It looked like Paul was really bothered in Sacramento. He’s fighting uphill. It’s Sisyphus. You can only push the rock up so many times.”
Hey jambr380, what if we DON’T land one of the top two prizes, a very likely possibility? Won’t losing be a thing of the present and future?………..
…….Which is exactly, jambr380, why you don’t play to lose. You can put Oden, Durant, and Duncan with a really really really bad coach and a bunch of youth accustommed to losing….and it doesn’t matter…the result will be the same.
Good to see you, Easy.
fine, then we can win a few more games and try for Noah out of Florida and continue to be mediocre. I didn’t feel like explaining a point that has been talked about a million times already. Landing an extremely talented player in a draft creates excitement among everyone. There are many teams that were terrible and then landed a superstar and became relevant and even amazing again (for the modern days we have, Duncan, LeBron, Shaq- with orlando, Mourning, etc etc etc).
Sure there is that chance that we don’t get a top two pick, and before Pierce went down, I was all about this team winning. I have never rooted for them to lose, but what is the point of winning extra games now. I would rather see a nice effort, close games, but losing. Only 1/3 of the season left. There will be changes this summer, either through the draft, through trades, and/or coaching/front office. There will be a new attitude next year no matter what. But if you are asking me, and anyone in the organization (especially Pierce), getting an immediate all-star would definitely be a nice start after a totally lost season.
and in case I wasn’t abundantly clear, all relevant teams in the past and present (except maybe Detroit) have acquired their major talent through the draft. It doesn’t matter how much you suck, if you land an amazing player, your team will change for the better. If you land a pretty good player, then things will probably remain the same (ie Atlanta). I am ready for a change and don’t want a crappy draft pick.
I didn’t like PP’s body language last night. He looked like a man with a broken will…..it was sad to see.
This “loosing” goes deeper than just injuries. Its turning into resignation, and a collection broken men. It will get uglier…if that’s even possible.
..yeah, yeah…the prize (Oden/Durant)will fix everything some say. I guess in some people’s mind, we get either(assuming 1.the come out this year 2. balls bounce our way) and we’ll magically turn into a contender….never mind the “learning curve” argument….
….oh well, i’ll try to keep an open mind and stay positive….
Suddenly, Rondo sucks big time. He was doing well, even nba.com had him as an up and coming rookie and putting up good numbers. It is that coaching staff that gets a hold of these kids and screws them up…

I like how every PG brought into Boston has gotten progressively worse under Doc.
The only one who has had marginal success is Delonte West…and he isnt even really a PG.
Its pretty bad when Doc, who played the point while in the NBA, doesnt even know how to get his own PGs to play well.

Telfair has some talent…and the fact that he has gotten so bad that he cant even play on this team shows how much hes regressed.
Rondo too.

Rondo does not know when to shoot now, I am afraid if DA wants to keep his job that Doc is gone. Marc my words by seasons end. you watch, if the Cs keep losing at this pace(they look like they are quiting on Doc) he will get replaced in 10-15 games…

AGAIN, THEY ARE~QUITTING ON DOC. There is no effort out there, and when that happens, that is it, that is all she wrote, time for new coach.

Doc is a lousy coach, but to blame Telfair’s “regression” on Doc is unfair. Telfair has been as lousy for the Celts as he was for the Blazers. Maybe the decision maker who traded the number 7 pick for Telfair should be held accountable for Telfair’s lack of talent.
Prior to this year, there were many who blamed Doc for Banks lack of progress during his tenure as a Celtic. However, he is now working on his second disastrous tenure with a team in his post-Celtics year. Doc might ride his guys hard (especially PGs), but what he does with Rondo will be telling of how he handles PGs. The position is easily the hardest for young players to transition into, and until Banks and Telfair prove that they are not duds it is unfair to blame Doc for their lack of progress – you can’t polish crap.

You know when a player on your team(G. Green) is afraid to go in public to not hear “losing streak” comments, your franchise is in trouble. After we get the number 1-2 pick(fingers crossed) this team will then need a trade to shake up the team. Oden or Durant by themselves will maybe net us 8-10 more wins combined with a healthier team, which is nice but with 13 wins this season, we’d still be in trouble. I’m guessing and hoping that Ainge would like to clear this years air, and after this pick switch to something besides an “extreme youth movement with a superstar”…sounds wrong doesnt it?? 12 projects and a superstar as a team mixes as well as oil and water. What will be almost as important as the draft pick will be what kinda of move ainge makes and who he acquires so we never go through a year like this again under his helm. Everyone on the team at this point just looks broken..Danny needs a trade this summer to bring some fresh air in.
