I love how when we got back to within 7 in the final minute, Doc didn’t even try to coach — no fouls, no offense/defense timeouts, no plays, brings in Powe to replace a 3-point shooter. Another game just close enough on paper to keep the young guys hungry and believing they can win, another game that inches us closer to draft nirvana.
Seriously, who is a better coach for a tanking team: Doc or ML Carr?
Please get rid of Doc by all star break and get rid of Danny before this upcoming draft. Pistons had their foot on our throat all game. They could have crushed us by 25 pts if they put the hammer down for 48 min. This is horrible! I wish this was the old days of wrestling with Doc and Danny as a tag team. I would love as a spectator to throw tomatoes, paper cups, etc. A travesty, RIP Red.

this has gone from mildly amusing to downright pathetic…
and still I watch.

Just give us Oden or Durant and all the pain will cease.

Here’s why Celts can’t win. Granted injuries are a factor. However, even with a healthy Pierce we weren’t winning more than 35-38 games at best.
One: Danny created this mess- too many players in the same position and very young to boot. EX: Wally, Telfair, etc.
Two: Doc is not a good fundamentalist coach, not a X and O guy, etc. Doc knows he will never again get a head coaching job. Doc’s job IMO is to contiue to tank and collect a paycheck. He wants nothing more IMO then to get his $$$, be with his family, and get behind a broadcast microphone.
Three: Ownership will not make a change. Fans need to stop attending games and financially supporting this team until management at least makes a coaching change to get us playing respectably.
I know some still want to put it on the players but I say this: Make the coaching change and get a good “fundamentalist” coach that can teach this team to play good fundamental ball. If after that, this team still shows little improvement, then fine, put it on the players. Until the coaching change is made and a new guy who knows his stuff gets the opportunity, it remains on Doc and Danny.
Team defense is the “heart” of winning basketball for most teams. Toronto tried to come out and be Phoenix East, they got off to something like 2-8. They scraped that plan, and they are a young tough team like last year’s Bulls who are now something like 12-5 thier last 17 games.
Defense wins games; defense gives you a chance when your game isn’t there. I got tired a long time ago of looking at the box scores and seeing a lose. Each game someone has a good game: Rondo (23 points), Big AL (double/doubles), Gomes (18/10), then it’s West turn, or Green’s, even Scal. Every game at least one of our guys is going to do well. It happens to every team in every game in the NBA. It’s not a moral victory, it is a fact- 99.9% of the time, one of your players will have a decent to very good game. You can’t keep pointing at that little snowflake in a huge pile of manure game after game and being content.
The plan 4 years ago was not to tank. We have our share of injuries and then some. Danny and Doc are responsible for this mess, they must go. I want a Hubie Brown guy in here who is going to break these guys down and get us playing team ball on both ends of the court. If a “Hubie” type coach can’t get Green to take it to the hole and improve his D the rest of the way, then I strongly consider moving him and his “potential”.
We are becoming a fiasco, not just in the NBA, but all professional sports.

Our upcoming schedule is BRUTAL….
We could honestly break the record and lose 25 straight. I would not be surprised one bit.
A part of me hope that happens… :-\
P.S. HOW is this “too short?” WTH??

Guys, just some advice. Complain all you want, but come on just accept that we’re going to lose a ton the rest of the year. There’s simply no point in trying to win games. None whatsoever. I understand the whole “culture” thing and what not but we have to be real about this. Put up the loss tracker. or blast everyone after every loss if it makes you feel better, but here’s reality. We are in the Durant/Oden hunt and that’s just the bottom line..

Forgive the double post but Memphis is losing with their best Player playing. and we want to trade for him. :-\ I suspect if paul could paly we would be winning every now and then. Keep the pick no matter what pierce might say.

The positive thing here is that the young players are spending more minutes in the court, my concern is who is helping them to have a WINNER MENTALITY… They are playing better but they always have in their mind that it will be another loss…

You know, I’m getting really sick and tired of you whiny short-sighted bastards complaining about how bad the team sucks. You do realize this was the plan from the beginning, right? This is exactly what anyone with a brain knew was going to happen when Danny took over. This is part of the plan. Shut up and stop suggesting stupid quick fixes, because you know damn well you’re the same idiots who are going to complain about those quick fixes if they DO occur. SO JUST SHUT UP. Everything is going perfectly well and according to plan. Trust me. You’ll see.
Driz is right. Oden or Durant, Al, Rondo, Green, 2 or 3 of the other kids, Pierce, and one good trade and this is a helluva team for years to come. And all the whiners will jump on the bandwagon and talk about how they always did love Danny.

I’m still shocked that Scalabrine hurt his knee. I thought he was all heart.

i agree with driz.
too many short sighted fools posting useless comments
the celtics have been destroyed with injuries this season.
perk, jefferson, west, allen, pierce, scal, kandi.. all out for significant time and you still complain that the team isnt playing well..
what do you expect? how can they gell into a cohesive unit when the team playing keeps changing because of injuries.
with pierce out for the next month with his infection the season interms of playoff potential is officially over. enjoy the draft possiblities and stop being babies. face the facts!
enjoy watching jefferson, green, powe and ray get court time.. no matter if we win or loose. their development is the key to this season!
and a lucky draft lottery :)
BCeltfan and JHTruth hit it right on the head with their posts. This is now all about losing to HOPE we get the top pick and HOPE that Oden comes out. But BCeltfan is right that we cannot play any D at all! Whenever we get a new coach that has to be fixed or we won’t be going anywhere. For all we want to hype GG or Al, they can’t guard anybody and that will have to change sometime. That’s why I want Oden not Durant. Oden will change this team because he eventually will be dominant on D and change the dynamic of this team. Durant is very good but him and Al and PP will score a lot and we will lose a lot of 120-115 games.
we are a horrible defensive team and that was on display front and center last night. Of all the things we need, someone to anchor our interior defense is at the top of the list. If people out there can’t see that then they’re nuts. That is why Oden, if he comes out, and we have the top pick has to be our choice. Like Russell he would anchor our defense and key our fast break for the next 10 years. IF we were to get him then this team would be on its way a LOT faster than anyone thinks. I really believe with Oden manning the middle that in 2-3 years we would be inthe NBA finals. That’s how good that kid can be. Back to our defense.Detroit has so many weapons they can make any team look bad but we looked downright pathetic. I don’t get why if speed is our only advantage we just didn’t start pressing and trapping from the get go. there’s no way we can beat those guys in a half court. we should have been pressing and trapping and playing zone. detroit had a size advantage at every position. this also shows how serously flawed this team is in terms of what danny put together. we have been too small from day one and danny should have known this. we are not Phoenix!!! at least not yet
That’s CWebb elevating over Scal? Even HANDICAPPED NBA VETS can beat this team!
(To be fair, maybe Scal got him with an upfake, but geez…)
If I’m Pierce I come back slooowly to minimize the risk of injury or re-injuring the foot & elbow. Doc needs to give all the young kids at least a few minutes per game (including Powe & Ray), so they can show what they’ve got.
Don’t know if they’ve got room on the roster, but I’d consider bringing up a big man from the NBDL for a look, especially down the stretch. Perk still isn’t healthy & might not be for the rest of the season.
Danny Ainge promised he would deliver #17 to Celtics fans. Who knew he was talking about consecutive losses.

Kinda sorta like the Lakers game….except Doc conceded that one with 2 minutes remaining. Matt, I can’t imagine you’re the only one noticing. I’ll bet the league is, too. All you folks that see this panacea at the end of this overt tanking…..keep an eye in the rear view mirror….I’m predicting…alone albeit…but predicting that if we have a continuance of this….maybe 3-4 more losses and there isn’t a shakeup….be careful what you wish for.

Doc is the worst coach alive is what i have to say.
If we had Popovich or Avery Johnson do you think we would not win one game by now??
Horrific substitions and bringing in the wrong type of guys to play together.
The beginning of the 2nd quarter totally killed our confidence while upping theirs. This is where we lost the game , where mistakes are not an option.
Also disappointed in some players in our team 1) dwest, is on one night and off another, very streaky shooter. Hard worker, but he is at best a bench guy to come and play. Doc is not using him right(though actually he may not have a choice). Gomes is exceeding expectations in my books. The guy has a very nice jumper from 15-18 feet, grabs some weak side rebounds, tip is, works hard. He would be a starter in a very good team in any other team and could be a good 6th man of the future for us.
Lastly tired that we have no defense or inability to stop teams from kililng us. This is why we are on a losing streak
