every time al touches the ball, i dont know about you guys, but i feel so comfortable, whereas when anyone else touches the ball besides PP, i cant help but feel a little nervous. PP and Big Al are a great combo.

Is anyone in the NBA better at following his own miss than Big Al? It’s time to anoint him — clearly our best post player since McHale and untouchable for anyone but Garnett. I realize NJ has the weakest frontcourt in the NBA, but that’s nit-picking. We managed to win despite a really poor game by Paul. That’s a big reason to hope.
On the flip side, Powe gets 3 boards and 2 steals in 4 minutes and doesn’t see the floor after that. What is Doc thinking keeping Scals in for that many minutes? It’s a point Brick keeps repeating: we’ll never be a winner with Doc drawing up plays and making substitutions.

Something new in Jefferson’s game this year. Apart from his offense, he’s not waiting for rebounds to come his way (ala Durant) but he’s actively fighting for rebounding position, despite being held on many occasions. On one play today where Al had no daylight he had the presence of mind to tap the ball off the backboard and back to himself for a tip-in.
Al now acts like he only needs a glance at the hoop and he’s dialed in. This must have been a part of his game in high school where confidence helped his 40 ppg. Great, great individual performance!

WOW ! bring in Durant and play Al at Center or Bring in Oden and play Al at the 4, doesn’t metter. if we do get one of them and couple eaither one with Al, there will be one certinty about the C’s in the next decade, they will have the best frontcourt in the league for years to come !

I think that was most satisfying game of year. Big Al has great hands. Great hands! I’m not a big fan of Delonte at the point but he was very good end of game and OT. I understand the point about Powe not getting more minutes but one reason is because Scal played excellent defense in 4th Qtr/OT. Pierce’s shots at end were of the “You gotta be kidding me” family. Doc did have the right rotation in at the end. That doesn’t erase the season but let’s cut him a little slack and remember that the players do like him. All I’ve been saying re my own sanity for this season is that Doc needs to show a win streak, a sign that they are getting it. Maybe this is it. We’ll still get Oden or Durant. Forget the ping pong balls. Karma is coming our way.
STOP WINNING!…If we were going to win it had to be in January…were playing for ping pong balls now kids…send Big AL and Paul to Cancun for a few months

This does hopefully quiet the media a bit about us tanking. But relax, folks. All this means is that we’re good enough to (barely) beat Houston without TMac and Yao, and good enough to (barely) beat NJ without Jefferson and Kristic. The losing will continue soon enough; treasure these wins while we can.
Let’s put to bed any talk of trading him, for anyone. In 4 years he will be collecting a playoff MVP trophy and KG will be done. I think the bigger issue is finding away to sit down a few guys. Don’t Pierce and West have “back spasms”? Al, PP and Durant form a nice squad.

Incredible game for Big Al, he remembered me to moses malone for a moment, grabbing all the rebounds. I think that Delonte has to be more agressive with his game, his basketball IQ is very high, is strong, has a very good shoot but he needs more confindence on himself. All the game in our spanish chat about the celtics we commented that pierce was playing his worst game ever ( he missed his first 11 shoots) but in the end he showed me again why is The TruTh and why he is (with kobe) the best clutch player of the league. We have to be happy because we have al, gerald, delonte, pierce, tony, all together for the next year we only need luck ( oden o durant) and a new coach. Good Night from Spain guys.

In a few years Al will be as good as or better than KG and KG will be over the hill. Keep Big Al!!!

Nice win!!..and officially out of the Durant/Oden sweepstakes(look at our upcomming schedule).
Its time to find some time for GG, Telfair and Kandi.
We have to close games with:
GG
Scal
Kandi
Telfair
Gomes/Powe
The only problem is GG’s mins. I am affraid that if we play him too long everyone will find out his isn’t worth much….
ok, lets keep GG mins where they are….and go from there…
so when we pick #4, who’ll we pick?…I would seriously consider trading that pick….
Hey if we don’t get a top two pick, at least we can get that 7 foot Chinese guy. I think his game would be a perfect compliment to Al’s. He’s not a center, so he can play at the 4 with Al in the middle. His jumper is deadly though, and that’s what we need from our other bigs so Al has more room to operate down there.
stillaceltsfan, I don’t know if you’re aware of this, but only one of those you named is a rookie.
Hopefully Noah will be available to us around 5 or 6.

This is not funny anymore, this winning has to stop now. I wanted the losing streak to end as much as the next guy but if we don’t pick 1 or 2 we’re no better next year then this year and that’s a bad thing.

“Geesh… where have you guys been? Al arrived about a month ago. He’s has something like 25 double-doubles in his last 27 games, and one of the games where he didn’t he was 26-9.”
I agree Al has been great and very consistent since becoming a starter. But where do you get these stats? By my count at NBA.com, Al has been a double-double in 17 of his last 27 games, well off the near double-double perfection you describe. Before you cite such specific stats, even when you add “something like” it should be close, you can easily check these statements before you write them. It just adds to the flow of misinformation because people assume you must be accurate if you’re citing something so specific. I agree with you basic point too; the hyperbole just undercuts it a bit.
Guys, don’t worry, we will be rewarded by the basketball Gods for not purposely tanking these games and get good karma in return get a top 2 pick…has anyone noticed that the 3rd to 6th worst record in the league almost always get the no.1 to 3 pick anyways, thats b/c thse that purposely tank and try to get the worst record rarely gets the top pick…so i’d say go for wins(but hopefully not more than Philly’s) and we’d still be in the hunt for Oden and Durabt
Ive got to the point that i wont talk about durant or oden or any other draft pick..its just bad luck :p
yes i am superstitious..

This is old news. jefferson has been a star since around Xmas, when Perk went down with his foot problems, and Al finally got it that he couldn’t get a foul a minute or block every shot attempt. With he, PP and Green as scoring pieces around Rondo, This team can be solid. With a trade or luck draft pick, we can get very good quickly. I haven’t seen Splitter play, but a 30 point scorer may not be the missing piece for this team. The draft guys play Splitter up as a PJ Brown type, and I always like him. A long agile multi position defender who can contribute 10 pts /game would be great. Splitter, Noah, Horford, and Julian Wright, all seem to fall in that mold. Getting those top 2 guys would be terrific, but not a failure. Learning to win is more important.
We had 18 offensive rebounds to their 3. We had 10 turnovers to their 21. Big part of the game right there. Posessions. I like a few wins. The lottery’s a crapshoot anyways even with the worst record. Even if we end up 3rd or 4th there will be players that will help. If Al stays in the middle I’d like to see us get a big that will rebound and throw his weight around at the four spot. Red always was quoted saying we needed to get a rebounder and someone who wouldn’t take any sh** from anyone. That’s why he always liked Danny Fortson. We could still get a guy like that somewhere in this draft or around the league.
I guess from the looks of things that Big Al is OK as a Celtic for most…now…It’s amazing what 32/18 will do for a group of…nevermind…
There were a few who saw the arrival as inevitable long ago…I, for one, initiated many guffaws I’d imagine when I openly stated that Big Al would be a perrenial All Star and “blow the doors off Dwight Howard within two years.”…Hah!…I must admit I said that when the many were calling for that “Illustrated Midgit” from Philly at any cost, but luckily, we missed that phenomenal opportunity and Iverson can now have a “Rocky Mountain High” and melo out at 5000 feet or so…
There is, however, too much chatter about my “Man amongst attache cases,” Kendrick Perkins, who, in my opinion, represents Celtic Pride and guts more than anyone else on the team…soooooooooo, it’s time for me to repeat myself yet again: KP (great initials for a guy whose looked to do the dirty work around the bucket) will make a name for himself as a true Celtic…I seriously pray that this BS fasciitis can somehow simply disappear…Good-Bye!, and good riddance…When it does Perk will become a terror around the boards, a defensive stopper and the best outlet passer in the NBA…
This should be of utmost importance to us as Celtics
Fan(atic)s…“Can ya work this one out, Red, please, and then, of course, you know, the big one: that table-tennis business?”

I think I saw Pierce exhibiting “flu like symptoms” last night, Delonte showing signs of “back spasms,” and Big Al experiencing “slight tendinitis in his ankle.” Have you seen the upcoming schedule? We could win 5 or 6 of the next 7 games if we don’t do something. That must be stopped!
If we don’t luck out this draft (Note: karma is a personal phenomemon, not one applicable to corporate organizations, so we need blind luck.), I think we should take Splitter or Hawes.
Brickowski -
I would never argue that point; Jefferson has been pretty much averaging 16ppg and 12 rpg consistently since his third start post-appendix, the December 9th game against New Jersey when he had perhaps his second best game with 29 and 14. It’s closer to 3 months since he “arrived”; in the basic gist of your argument we are in complete agreement; I’m just a pain in the neck stickler for details, and I’ve a nasty cold so I’m cranky! Forgive my abruptness.
Assuming we get #1 or #2, I’m with Pierce, I would rather see the pick traded along with the Ratliff contract and one or two youngsters for a solid NBA talent, or possibly 2 solid talents. I’m not convinced Oden is that great of a talent (alla Duncan), and while I would love to see Durant on the C’s he’s still not a garaunteed hit (how #1s have been a bust after much hype?).
I love the win streak! Love the idea of 1-2 pick, but would like to see it translate in solid, proven, NBA help. I would also like to see Wyc and co put their money where their mouth has been and sign a top FA this summer since it will be a buyers market.
