2007-08 Preseason Starts Now
The rules say the Celtics have to play tonight. At least there is no more reason to lose. All there is left to do is let some of the young guys play and get some experience.

with the season winding down all I have to say is….. we will be better next yr. & doc will get his chance to prove many of us wrong. BUT witnessing this dismal season has made me realize there is more to life than watching your favorite team lose & break records in doing so.
One thing for sure: lottery day will be the highlight of our season.
We’re down by 5 with a couple minutes to go. Telfair can’t earn minutes on this team. What a bust!! Alan Ray has shown what he can’t do with exta minutes Rondo will be fantastic with a 15 ft jumper. Al awesome. Perkins just horrible. Gerald no help tonight. Gomes too soft. Delonte a gamer. I hope he gets last shot. If Doc has Alan Ray in at the end, shoot him.
That game looked exactly like the last 20 games we have played. Flashes and spurts of good play…Teams stepping it up just enough to win. Why can’t we at least consider the possibility that maybe we are just this bad right now?! I’m not so sure where that line actually is between us tanking and being understaffed. It was closer tonight with Al in there, but we’re still missing 5 guys from our regular rotation. Considering Orlando was playing with their full lineup, I think we have some hope with a little health and a solid draft/a trade. Healthy we are a better team than the Magic. No question about it… I only see the following players as guys we just can’t get rid of though… Pierce, Al, Rondo, West, and Green. The rest can be packaged with picks to get a more talented veteran in here. Any thoughts out there as to who?!
Great job drawing plays at the end of the game Doc.
If Carslisle does get fired from Indy, Ainge better do what it takes to bring him here.

While West got blocked on the last shot, this wouldn’t happen if we could have a play drawn up with a pic/screen, some backdoor cuts or something planned that looks like a play. We instead get ISO chaos. It’s whoever gets the ball has to create something all alone with no help and has to throw up a prayer. Which is what we need – lots of prayers. What in the world is Danny Ainge thinking?

Jeff, I’m sorry but what is the difference with this comment? “All there is left to do is let some of the young guys play and get some experience.” This is exactly what I said in a previous post, is that once a team has no chance of the “playoffs” you do this. If your not at the very bottom of the league, no one say a word. If you are conspiracy theories and out cry are posted all over the board. In reality once you are not making the playoffs it’s only natural to do what you just said, and it makes good sense for the future. And this is why Stern can’t or won’t ever penalize a team for this so called theoritiacl nonsense. This stupid tank conspiracy is getting old. Your not making the playoffs, you play the bench, you look to the future, you decide who to keep and who not too. It just cracks me up how one second it’s a outrage, and the next it makes sense…come on…

UCN Carlisle is not the answer by a long shot

Al and Paul can score with their eyes closed, and we have a lot of offensive weapons when healthy. We desperately need a defense-oriented coach — someone in the Larry Brown/Rick Carlisle mode.

I do agree with PP that the team needs another vet or 2. Esp. defensive minded vets who can execute. Ratliff would have been that if he hadn’t been toast. Wally is a liability at best. Tony Allen is a decent young player, but he’s still prone to mistakes. PP can hold his own on d, but you don’t want him ‘teaching’ anyone.
Get a solid role player who can mentor these guys on and off the court. I like the idea of Carlisle as a coach, but I’d bet more than one team would be bidding for him. if he’s let go.
I know, but my point is that they need to bring in an intelligent basketball guy that will help the Celtics reinstall a winning attitude back to the franchise. I would say Larry Brown, but the guy is a nutjob who feels the need to change coaching jobs at least every 2 years.
