Rather encouraging that a “top 50” ALL TIME GREAT still remains a DIEHARD Celtic fan despite this team’s troubled past. For someone who’s played with and against many of the all-time greats to stay loyal to this franchise characterizes what a true fan should be but seldom is! A TOMMY POINT for “Tommy”!

I just hope we win a top-two spot, because the “I just lost the lottery” reaction shot of the disappointed GMs is always an uncomfortable experience. I would hate to see Heinsohn stone-faced and crestfallen if they announce the Celtics at 3, 4 or 5.

some, not many, have criticized tommy here. an old timer like him to have such enthusiasm and lack of cynicism is more than admirable. he has always served the celts well- from carrying the ball bags when russ was too proud, to carrying this bungling team looking for the bright spots. he has forgotten more than any of us know about baketball. there are many super important decisions this franchise has to make and i give them credit for this small but important symbolic decision. never as much a homer as johnny most, he carries on in the most tradition, something we old timers appreciate.
I can just see it now…he’s gonna be heckling the deputy commissioner (and a new one, nonetheless, now that Adam Silver has replaced Russ Granik)…
“Third pick? (Cackles wildly) Awwww that’s a TERRIBLE call! Gimme a break! What team is this Silver guy rooting for anyway?”
Or, better yet…
"First pick!! I’ll tell ya, did you see the way he opened that envelope? That’s some old time envelope opening! That’s a Tommy point!"
I’m afraid of what will happen when Mike Gorman isn’t around to act as Tommy’s buffer zone. Heinsohn’s the man though.
Manup, I like your call…Tommy’s taking on an hell of a responsibility here, perhaps like the charge he took in that final first championship game…But here, it’s all luck not talent…I’ll bet he’ll be leaning on the “Redhead from Needham” (or is that need him?) heavily for the needed good fortune…
