Cool links, but i must say that the situation of our team is a double-edged sword. Even if we had all of our injured players available to play(Scala,Theo, Kandi, Wally) the players themselves quality wise would have sat us in limbo with another mid-teen pick; Same thing every year just a a few tweaks in personal, but all around same crap. We should be glad they were injured so we wouldn’t have to do the same cycle every year. On the other hand, since they were injured and the youngs got their “welcome to the NBA” wake-up call(18 straight L’s), we have over 26 mill in those 4 injured players with no trade-value if they even had any before they were injured, and they are taking up roster spots. Just as importantely as this draft, i expect them to sort out this issue this summer. I’m thinking it is more worth it to hold onto Theo’s contract until it expires in order to resign Al and have some more cap flexibility instead of trading theo with a bunch of crap for a mediocre overpaid vet. First step is the draft, and depending who we get, i expect danny to get rid of our dead-weight. I would love to see Danny finally make a trade to end his cycle of long contract for more long contracts. Once this mess is cleaned up we should be fine.

I liked some of the comments Weisberg made – in particular on Doc

Anyone else feel the need to puke after reading Wyc’s article? What a phony-clown. If this team misses the playoffs for the next five years he’ll be saying the same crap then. He doesn’t give a crap about this team or the fans..its all about $$

MrOden20 – There are a lot better ways to make money when you have money like he does. If it was only about the money then he would be doing other less-stressful things with it. He was a fan in the 80’s just like we were. To say that he doesn’t really care about the Celtics is just insane. Just because he has to speak the corporate line to the fans and be optimistic doesn’t make him a clown. Where is your team you’ve built up and put your livelihood on the line for?!

EJ, are the fans optimistic? When Danny, Doc, and Wyc read the company line, we all know it’s a huge load of crap. No one feels better after he says things like that. It is definately all about money. Someone needs to be held accountable for this mess. Peter May’s article made the most sense. We aren’t that good. If these young guys were so “talented” teams would be busting down the doors to acquire them. However, Danny said at the trade deadline this was the quietiest trade deadline he had ever experienced….I wonder why?

After reading the interview with Wyc Grousbeck (which was apparently a repeat of the one he gave yesterday), I felt like calling a shrink to inquire about medication for depression. Is there anything other than the bottle to help us endure another year (or more) of Rivers? Would Prozac help? I don’t know anything about it.

WYC showed his true colors – Celtics averaged over 16,000 fans per home game. He made money and that is the bottom line. Celtic pride takes another hit – especially if he retains and/or extends Doc’s contract.

Well, next year they are only going to average 15,999 fans per home game.

by Brickowski on Apr 23, 2007 2:39 PM EDT reply actions

Truthteam17 -If they weren’t optimistic they wouldn’t be following the team. Go look at Atlanta’s home games if you want to see what losing fans and no one believing is all about. As much as we whine and complain on this board as to the direction of the team, we wouldn’t be here at all if we had no hope. If you don’t have any hope then maybe finding another use of time is wise…

Unless we get Oden or Durrant. See you in the ticket line, Brick!

Weisberg just gave Rondo a C? He must have been watching a different team this year, because there is no chance that was the case. The only thing that stood in Rondo’s way this year was Doc, once he got on the court he was playing at a very high level and should have got nothing lower than a B …thats just an ignorant grade by him.

by modawg3434 on Apr 23, 2007 5:01 PM EDT reply actions

Eeyyore III, I’ll see you in a Konga line before you see me in a ticket line to watch a Rivers-coached team. I won’t pay to watch a team that reards its coach with an extension after going 57-107 over the last 2 years.

by Brickowski on Apr 23, 2007 5:46 PM EDT reply actions

All these grades by journalists are just silly. They don’t want to offend anyone.

Overall, the Celtics get an F. They were 29th out of 30 teams, and we grade on a curve. Their coach gets an F. Ratliff, Telfair and Szczerbiak get Fs. Wyc Grousbeck gets an F for believing his own PR pastrami and for turning the games into cheap imitations of the Big Apple Circus.

The only player possibly deserving of an A is Al Jefferson. Pierce gets a C /B-: how quickly we forget those 12 turnover games at the beginning of the year. He also came back from his foot injury fat and out of shape. Rondo gets a B. The rest are all C’s and Ds.

by Brickowski on Apr 23, 2007 6:30 PM EDT reply actions

scndtony, the team (the business) made money. It didn’t go into Wyc’s pocket. If if were Ron Gaston that money would be in his bank account.

Scal did what Scal does. His defense was passable and he hustled. That’s worth a D at least.
