at the risk of sounding totally uninformed: what’s the lowest pick the celtics could get?
by monty on May 21, 2007 8:07 AM EDT reply actions
The Celtics don’t deserve a top two pick after the tanking they did. The basketball gods are angry and will punish the franchise accordingly, just as they did in 1996.
Just think, in ten years there will be a new “The Dynasty that Was” article showing Oden’s picture in a Celtics uniform after Oden has just won his 3rd or 4th title with the Indiana Pacers.
;D Crazy people!
What time is the lottery at? TNT?

I will be wearing my favorite Celtics hat, Paul Pierce jersey, and Celtics beads (from New Orleans) while drinking a green drink (thinking melon ball or pearl harbor) out of my Celtics hurricane glass. If we donâ€â"¢t â€Å"win†this thing then I will keep drinking till Iâ€â"¢m fully drunk…
First of all, I’m not religious in any way, shape, or form but I have been praying every night.
Also, like I have stated before, this is what I’ll be wearing on the night of May 22nd:
- Celtics t-shirt with a Paul Pierce jersey over it.
- Celtics night pants with Celtics shorts over it.
- Celtics boxers.
- Celtics socks.
- A Celtics hat.
- Celtics headband and wristbands.
- Celtics “I Am A Celtic” bracelet (from 2005).
- A Celtics pin.
I will also be drinking green kool-aid (no joke, I picked up 4 packets of it yesterday) out of my big Celtics mug that I have never drank out of before. In my other hand, I’ll be holding up my bobblehead of Lucky.
Not to mention, I have an Oden/Durant wallpaper on my computer and I’ll be in the CelticsBlog chatroom.
Well, both my mother AND my mother-in-law are staying with us tomorrow night. So that should take every iota of bad luck for the C’s and give it squarely to me. ;)

I think the key to this draft rests on whatever ritual mcpu40 does tomorrow. It’s all up to you, buddy.

8:30 pm on ESPN. The Celtic’s get the number 1 pick and shock the basketball world by taking Durant instead of the anticipated Oden. Danny Ainge remains in seclusion following vehement verbal attacks by numerous “poorly” informed bloggers.
Said Danny….Great centers come once every decade but top-50 all-time greats are seen less often. I was building this team around Paul Pierce but his insistence that we acquire veterans left me no alternative but to trade him. We are building a championship nucleus here and not merely trying to get to the playoffs. We’re going to use the pick in the Pierce trade to acquire…..static….I didn’t here what he said….????….but it sounded like Al Thornton….I did hear him say that he and Durant could flip-flop between the 3 and 4 spot as circumstances dictated.
Pick #32 would be Bryars…..as the best of the rest. I guess I can sleep now….or can I???

My ritual 10 years ago (@ age 26) didn’t work, that was:
- Get hammered with friends/roommates in Waltham
- Dress in green
- Get rowdy
- Watch the lottery
- Then get p*ssed @ the poor selection.
- Get louder and drunker
My ritual tomorrow?
- Work all day sitting behind this silly computer
- No beer / alcohol (almost 8 years now sober)
- Go home and cook burgers on my deck
- Water the GREEN grass and GREEN plants with my 3-year old son
- Watch the lottery with boy while holding his hand
:’(
It was going to be pizza beer sitting in front of the telly with my Celtics hat on and my wife next to me. But then I found out my wife scheduled us to go to a dinner party! Thankfully the dinner party doesn’t start until later (I live on the West coast), but it means I will only have beer in front of the telly, not my beloved beer pizza…..
Good point, mcpu40. Whatever any of us were doing ten years ago, do the exact opposite. Well, we didn’t hire a new coach, so at least we’re off to a good start, in that respect.

You can check http://www.redsoxconnection.com/fans/hangouts.html though who wants to go to the upperwest side to watch the lotto? Not me

How about Professor Thom’s, http://www.professorthoms.com/
Awesome RED SOX bar in NYC…good food & drinks.
Well, I’ve casually gone crazy over the past week…Fell in and out of love…am about to quit my lil job…came into full awareness of my age…It’s been rough!!!
I look on tomorrow nite as a cathartic…something akin to having a first bowel movement after an operation…It is that necessary and yet that uncomfortable…
In truth, I think I will be flipped out if we go 1 or two…just flat out flipped!…I will be watching with bated breath, I’m sure…but the demons are relentless…
With a stroke of luck tomorrow evening, the rest of my life will look strictly fabulous!…That’s a pretty heavy roll of the dice, but as the Bard put it, "I have set my life upon a cast/ and shall stand the hazard of the die…

thanks for the suggestions guys, i’ll probably check out professor thoms, if anybody else is in the city wants to create a c’s cheering sections, though all the bars are probably gonna be hopped up for the sox/yankees games, though, i won’t mind watching the sox beat up on the yanks, as long as they show the c’s getting one of the first TWO picks! it’s a good time to be a boston sports fan folks.

as i wrote on another thread -
I am having a life sized, anatomically-correct pinata of David Stern made. I will beat mercilessly on it with my official Celtics shillelagh (that’s Irish nun-chucks for the uninitiated) all day on Tuesday. Bobble-head dolls of Tim Duncan will pour out of the pummeled Stern – I will crush them with my Gerald Green dunk-contest-winning Reeboks. I will be having salmon and mashed potatoes for all 3 meals.

I will listen to my Dream Game Tape, game 7 of the NBA finals (narated by Johnny Most and Glen Ordway) where my late elderly mother stuffs Kareem, steals the ball from Magic and @ the other end goes over Jabar for a jam to win the title.
@ 6:00 pm, I will cycle for 25.6 miles hard, that should take until 7:20 pm. No matter the outcome of the lottery, I should be able to sleep.
I will be watching with the TiVo—to edit out annoying nasty comments about the Celtics by ESPN commentators who are obviously lower life forms with no respect for Our Team—and rooting the Celtics on with a chocolate chip cookie and lots of yelling at the TV set while wearing my Snoopy Celtics t-shirt.
Afterwards, I’ll be explaining the reason for all the yelling snd screaming to the neighbors, or if the C’s draft too low, to the EMT’s…
Then, I’ll make comments on the CBW. If I’m still among the walking and talking. Finally, keep in mind that NEXT June, I expect to be rooting for the Celtics to win Banner # 17.
