I think Kobe in the east, with Al and the number 5. Gets us alot closer to the finals than Pierce. I am now a member of the move Pierce for Kobe camp. Get it done Danny.

Does Jerry West even want to come back? Also, has West’s track record over the last several years been that good? I mean, Brian Cardinal getting a big deal? Drafting Troy Bell and Dahntay Jones? Dumping Shane Battier? There’s a pretty extensive list of mistakes in there.
Also, there’s no way in hell I want Kobe anywhere near the Celtics. The day he puts on a Celts jersey is the day I find a new team to root for.
Kobe wants West to return because he’s frustrated that the Lakers can’t get back to a championship level. What makes any of you think he’d agree to come to Boston and entrust his legacy with Danny “2nd Round” Ainge?

and by “2nd round” I meant draft pick. Not playoffs. We’re not even close to that yet.

Kobe is frustrated because that won’t trade Andrew Bynum. The Lakers act like he is Shaq but I’m not so certain that he’ll be better than Perkins.
I agree that the Lakers should do everything in their power to “win now”, since Kobe is a rare talent. However, Bynum is already better than Perk, and he’s three years younger.
Kobe usually gets what he wants…having said that,Pierce would love a trade to LA…Kobe,Jefferson,Rondo would rule the East for years….PP/5th pick/Green/West/future pick for Kobe.

Man I’m glad our multimillionaire star on a mediocre team can take the rough times with some class, at least publicly. They get paid to play the game, not hold the franchise hostage.
There may be more talented guys out there but I really appreciate Pierce’s character when I see how others deal with similar situations. I can’t believe folks would be so quick to ship him out at the first sign of Kobe playing hardball after all he’s given to the Celtics.
Pining for a Kobe trade is lame in my opinion. I actually thought the Lakers should have tried to do a Kobe for Pierce trade and kept Shaq instead; and I can agree that a Kobe for Pierce straight up trade might make some sense for both teams
Bynum, Odom, Pierce would be a formidable front line, especially if Rondo or the #5 are thrown in.
And for the Celtics, Wally at SF and Kobe at SG would be a much better balance.
Nonetheless it won’t happen and pining for it doesn’t make sense.
Hell I’ll trade Ratlif,Green and Jefferson and the 5th pick for Kobe and in the 2nd round we take Williams
your starting 5
1. Rondo 2/3 Kobe-Pierce 4. Gomes 5. Williams
= NBA CHAMPS
Get that rolling rally ready Manino my eyes are lighting up and im salavating over this possibility damn no one in this league will stop us
lakers will prolly chuck mitch and try to get west back for kobe. and pierce would be alot better teammate than kobe for our young guys. kobe would somehow mess things up one way or another doing his “i’m not shooting anymore on game 7” act.

I’m glad to know that the Celtics organization is more concerned about the character of its players than the celticsblog community or right now we’d have Zach Randolph and Kobe Bryant. How about Artest, Ruben Patterson, and Eddie Griffin too?

I don’t ever forsee Kobe in a Celtic uniform. If and when it would ever happen, then I would pay more attention. A lot of these semi-lunacy stories happen in the off season.
IMO, Lakers will do some wheeling/dealing but Kobe stays in L.A.

Kobe would only come here if Pierce stays with him and we all know thats cant work out.
Also he has a no trade clause ..he can choose where to go. I doubt Boston is high on his list. Hell its not on anyones list anymore.

There is no point in following this because no way does this ownership have the kind of initiative or imagination to go after Kobe. A team of Kobe, Pierce and Jefferson would terrorize the JV eastern conference. If I am the Celtics I having Paul call Kobe and feel out the idea of them playing together and Kobe coming east. The Celtics could offer the number 5 pick, Theo’s $11 million expiring contract, and any combination of players on the team not named Jefferson or Pierce. Yeah, it would be highway robbery, but if Kobe really pitched a fit it might be the best the Lakers could do. Further, it would at least get Kobe out of the West, give them a lot of salary cap flexibility, a good player at number five and hell the Celtics could even throw in next year’s number 1 and Minne’s number 1, whenever that thing becomes available. I would have the further advantage of giving Kobe the chance to stick it to an aging and overweight Snack down in Miami and would there be a better way to torture the Lakers than by going to Boston? I am not saying it could happen. I am just saying, Boston is crazy if they don’t try take a shot.

As far as people running Kobe down. I don’t what hapened in Denver so I can’t blame someone disliking the guy as a rapist, but as far as running his basketball ability down, only a complete blithering moron would not want that guy on your team. Kobe has three rings. He can play on a championship team. He is the best player in the NBA today and one of the ten best ever. Hands down.

It was not West who ran Shaq out of town. It was Mr. I am the Star & Leader of this team
Kobe. And now Kobe is pulling a Magic Johnson Act – Fire the coach or trade me! And that’s what LA did. They fired their coach to appease Magic. Now Magic had more to offer than Kobe. (I know Kobe wants West back as GM and not fire the coach but it is similar).
Magic made everybody around him BETTER. Not Mr. Kobe! A selfish, crybaby but one who has talent – just can’t play with others. LA buckled to Magic. I hope they got the balls to send Kobe packing! But I doubt it. Would love to see Kobe in Milwaukee which is no Tinsel Town.
Hey maybe Paul or BigAl could demand a “fire the coach or trade me”. Might be the only way we get rid of Doc in WYC’S lifetime.
I see on ESPN, Kobe is already backing away from the “alleged statement” above. He is now saying he is just frustrated that Laker management has not done more to get him help (didn’t make a trade before the deadline, etc).
Kobe will stay a Laker but I expect some off season moves on the L.A. roster. If Kobe was dumb enough to say this, which he probably did, he is already realizing it was a mistake with him shooting his mouth off. That won’t change his feelings for wanting “help”, and if I were a Laker fan, I would be wanting some trades too.

J Oneill—damaged body; Randolph—damaged psyche; Go w the draft build your team…trade Pierce cuz it won’t happen in his prime. Forget Kobe he’ll never come here.
Pleeze no trade like last year. Others have found(and developed) Parker, Ginobili and Milsap late. If we just use our best brains and draft and then trade a little where we have duplication (Pierce, Gomes, Wally..Gerald) we will improve…with of course the ultimate improvement , the demise of Mr Rivers. No more 2nd team crap(Olowakandi, Ray, Scal) and injured oldies(Wally, Ratliff, Scal Kandi) let’s get some youngsters in here who will be hungry and want to prove something. Brewer/Noah/Horford. Brewer and Devon Hardin of Cal would be great additions w our picks.( Hill of Prov if Hardin not there).
Addendum: it should be repeated that the name of this team is the Boston Celtics not the Paul Pierces. Great as Paul is he’s light years behind the winning ways of Russell, Havlicek and Bird. It may be kinder to him personally to move him rather than force the issue this year w trades such as O’neill/Randolph for #5. Draft picks are hungrier, healthier and cheaper…age don’t matter..if you can play you can play—see eg.- LeBron James, Carmelo A ..D Wade.
