Kobe, Kobe, Kobe
"I'm so tired of talking," Bryant said. "It's tough. I always dreamed about retiring as a Laker. I just hope and hope that something can be resolved. Something can be figured out. Just something so I can stay here and be in this city and be with the team I love."
Bryant told Patrick he talked to Lakers coach Phil Jackson after talking to Smith and felt resassured.
"When Phil and I spoke, he was optimistic and determined that we'll both be back," Bryant told Patrick. "Phil is somebody I listen to. I lean on him a lot. He assured me things are going to be OK. Things are going to be all right. Don't go full bore just yet. Take a deep breath and let us work these things out and everything will be all right. Which was very encouraging.
"I don't want to go anywhere else. I want to be here for the rest of my career. It was encouraging to hear that."
Well, at least we're on the same page. He's tired of talking and I'm tired of listening to him.Â
Update: there's plenty more on Kobe all around the place, from his blog, to Chad Ford, etc. but I'm not going to follow every story. I'll leave that to Forum Blue & Gold.

You wonder if it’s posturing so he doesn’t tank his trade value.
I for one would be elated if we got Kobe for something like #5, a future 1st and another player not named Al, Paul or…maybe Rondo?

Cmon Jeff, don’t be like espn.
What he said is he wants to be a Laker for life if things change and manamgent doesn’t lie to him. He also said on Dan Patrick show that he wants to get out of town if nothing really improves. He didn’t really back down from what he said since this morning, he just came out an explained it more why he is fed up with the lakers.
Now whether i care about him and lakers lieing to him is another story … i don’t feel bad for him whatsoever, but lets get things straight about what he said.

I wonder if Kobe would like to play in Atlanta.

As I posted when I first heard it, the summer is filled with these half lunacy stories and this again is the 2nd time Kobe has said I do, and then has backed off the statement- worse than the runaway bride gal.
This is Kobe’s attempt to get West back in control over the Buss’ family and to get some real help.
There will be a Laker trade, but it won’t involve Kobe, end of story.

Props to the Spurs for getting to the finals. I admire Duncan and Co. as they go about their business and get things done. They don’t have the flash of the Suns and Mavs, don’t need it either.

To me the burning topic for this organization outside of the #5 pick is for Celtic managment to be held accountable. I know this is the “season of seasons” and by gosh, if they don’t get it done this time, well we aren’t going to take it.
Even after the 18 game losing streak, we finished the year on a 9-16 run. Conversely, look at the 76ers, they went on a 17-9 run. I know we had Pierce, Wally, Allen, etc hurting, but regardless. We had Big Al, Rondo, Gomes, West for the most part, semi-healthy Perk, etc.
We were supposed to be the team with all the talent. But a team with Dalmbert, Willie Green, Andre Miller, Kover, Igualala and Joe Smith are capable of a 17-9 run and we can’t even come close to sniffing 500 ball.
For all the kool-aid drinkers at some point, somebody needs to be held accountable. It can’t be: we didn’t tank; Danny’s doing well with what he has to work with; Doc is doing a great job with the youngsters, and our youth is so talented. It doesn’t add up.
The arguement being, we can’t make a change because it could disrupt the youth or how do we know if we- “meet the new boss, may be the same as the old boss”, so we have decided to stay with the old boss?
Boston had a chance last year to parlay Pierce and get the likes of: Aldridge/Gay/M.Williams. To me a great chance to rebuild with those kids, plus big AL, West, Allen, Perk, etc.
Danny does not want to trade Pierce, he wants to move the #5. Basically we are going to be laying mediocre eggs for the next 8 years when this happens. Enjoy winning a first round playoff series in the East, and pretend that this is banner #17.

We will not be “laying medicore eggs for 8 yrs.” if we traded PP…I think trading PP would make it faster for us to get back in contention than if we were to keep him because if we traded PP….we could use that space to get other people in free agency….andddd….it’s not like we have nothing…we already have rondo and jefferson….(and this is before the draft)….we could be well on our way to a third piece if ainge drafts correctly…(aka. brewer)….I bet u some teams would kill to have what we have
Sure, Kobe would like to stay with the Lakers—as long as he gets to win championships and shoot half of the team’s shots (which will probably always be mutually exclusive). Here is more on (or perhaps I should say moron) Kobe backing off his trade demand now: http://www.thenewsroom.com/details/351293?c_id=bh
