With the exception of #8 on the profiles of a “bust” (an egg-head), the other 7 seem related but not in a major way.. Perhaps these same “profiles of a bust” would have more reliability if the authors suggested a numerical probabilty as the number of profiles related to a specific player. For instance, a player that fit 4/8 profiles would have a 50% chance of being a bust.
Another way to rate profiles of a bust would be to weigh specific skills….foul shooting percentage, handles, athleticism, defensive ability, ability to create one’s shot, finishing ability, creativity, court vision, passing ability, midrange and 3 pt range/ shooting percentages, elusiveness, lateral movement, determination, etc. and rank those skills against the 8 profiles listed in the article.
It’s obvious that trying to predict NBA success is a difficult task especially since the most “intrinsic” element for sucess is also the most difficult to quantitate…a payer’s INTANGIBLES.
