Witness

  • I just witnessed the Cavs making thier first ever Finals.
  • I also witnessed the reason why LeBron's unselfishness is a virtue.  When he's off, guys like Daniel Gibson can step up.
  • I think I just witnessed the end of the Pistons run.
  • I bet someone just witnessed Stern let out a big sigh as he realized that Finals ratings just got salvaged.
  • I still think we'll witness Duncan and the Spurs win one more title.

true to all of that.

A Spurs title is simply no guarantee now that LeBron is involved. I can’t believe that some people try to put Dwyane Wade and Carmello Anthony on LeBron’s level. LeBron is absolutely unreal.

I also think we’ll witness Duncan and the Spurs win, but I think we will witness a lot of tight calls against Bruce Bowen. The refs are not going to let Bowen do his usual tricks against the golden boy BronBron.

We also just witnessed why getting the #1 Pick in the draft is SOOOOO Important…..hmmmm a finals between Duncan and LeBron.

I can’t believe this has happened. I thought this might happen. The spurs and the cavs are litterally my two most hated teams. I can’t believe it.

The pathetic favoritism LeBron will get from the refs may keep the Cavs in it, which is a shame. Similar to the gifts Wade got last year against the Mavs. It’s hard to take a league seriously that so blatantly favors its stars, but I follow it anyway because I love hoops. I’m pulling for a Spurs sweep.

The Spurs are a machine. I do not see the cavs winning this one.

Bingo. And, therefore, we just witnessed why Ainge needs to do everything in his power to find a way to convince Portland to trade that #1 pick.

Oh, I am sure a package of Pierce, Jefferson, Green and the #5 might make them trade the #1. Though we might need to throw in another player.

Last nights game also showed the value of later round picks, a la Daniel Gibson. Mistakes in this league with draft picks can be devestating to a franchise. The trading of a number one for Antoine Part Deux, and the Telfair debacle that in a way led to trading a first rounder for Rondo are still hard to swallow. Danny was great at getting extra picks at one time, but those two were squandered.

Nobody trades this #1 pick.

Curious to see what happens to Detroit. I’m actually glad to see Webber not get to the finals. He thinks he can ride someone else’s coattails in and make up for his failure at Sacremento. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Chauncey leave, and if that happens, Dumars will blow the team up.

By the way, I’ll be rooting for Cleveland. After all their sporting heartbreaks…“The Drive”, “The Fumble”, MJ’s shot…those poor fans are long overdue.

I really hope CLE gets their butt kicked. I can’t stand Lebron – so much talent, but he’s realized so little of it – can the league really afford to have Lebron get complacent once he has a title under his belt? And what was with the Bill Russel thing? Made no sense. Is there any PR stunt Russel won’t do?

If this is the Lebron coming out party then we are in a new era. We had Bird/Magic for the 80’s. (8 our of 10 titles.) We had the Bulls for the 90-98 period. (6 our of 9 titles.) Then we had Shaq versus Duncan (7 out of 8 titles.) Maybe we are at the passing of the torch to the Lebron era, but I hope not. So far we’ve been cheated by circumstance (Duncan and Shaq both being in the West) and fate (Duncan’s injury in 06 and Wade’s this year) from seeing a Shaq versus Duncan final, and with the way Shaq is aging, we may not.

The level of calls for the global icon is going to be quite high, but Duncan can single handedly foul out every big player on the Cavs. If the Spurs don’t win, it will be their fault, they could have made a move or two to shore things up at the deadline.

wow, he brought the Cavs from obscurity to the NBA Finals in four years. He is amazing

by jurrasic earl on Jun 3, 2007 7:32 AM EDT reply actions

I just wish the officials treated LeBron and Wade the same as other players. The fact that LeBron can barge into people with impunity and get a blocking foul any time he wants tarnishes his performances in my view.

by Brickowski on Jun 3, 2007 8:06 AM EDT reply actions

Of course all number 1s are not created equal, but if it’s a year an Oden or LeBron comes out, I have no reservations for tanking if my team is already mediocre.

by obnoxiousmime on Jun 3, 2007 8:24 AM EDT reply actions

I was wrong about LeBron. I did not feel that he had the “make-up” to be a leader. Put Kobe on the Cavs and they miss the playoffs. My hat is off to you, LeBron. But I like the Spurs in 6. Duncan will dominate the Cav’s big men.

h/h is right about the value of good picks later in the draft — and it’s also important to note that this series showed the value of a good point guard who is allowed to do his thing, and a how a lackluster coach can drag a good team down.

by MattD on Jun 3, 2007 10:19 AM EDT reply actions

I’ve got to admit that I was jelous. What a coincidence that the final 4 four teams play halfcourt basketball and play defense….oh, and have bigs.

I’ll be rooting for Cleveland on this one(just this once). I can’t stand the breaks the Spurs are getting(i.e. there is no way TDuncan can block so many more shots in the playoffs without even getting off the ground all that high…check his free hand, he is using it) and it’d be so anoying to listen all those Spurs fan talking “Dynasty”
