Let me preface this criticism by saying that you do a great job with the daily links, FLCeltsFan, and you’re work is greatly appreciated.
Please don’t foist WNBA links on us. It is bad enough that the reprehensible Herr Stern and his NBATV does it all the time. For example: “Welcome to NBA Draft in New York City, home of the New York Knicks and New York Liberty,” Huh? Or the WNBA tripleheader when there’s actual NBA summer league games going on. And the 15 minutes of WNBA highlights on NBATV’s 30 minute daily news program.
I wouldn’t hate the WNBA if Stern and Co. didn’t feel compelled to jam it down NBA fan’s throats. But now I do.
Does anyone else feel the same way, or am I crazy?

I don’t like the WNBA because they can’t dunk.
And I’m serious when I write that.
==
If they wanted it to be successful in a financial sense, they’d lower the rim and they’d wear more revealing uniforms.
Perhaps that’s sexist.
No wait, it is.
But hey, sex sells, and so do outstanding flashy plays.
The WNBA is doomed to fail, like NFL Europe.
Seattle’s Green scores 32 in the summer playground league. It is what it is, but it shows that the #5 pick Green has some game going into the NBA. I wanted to see our Green just go off in the summer league and average 25 per game even though these games mean nothing. As I’ve said before, G Green winning the dunk contest doesn’t amount to squat. Yet it was he wasting his time studying “every winning dunk” in the dunk contest. G. Green needs to get an NBA game.
Danny had better make a super blockbuster trade and get us one more great vet player because we are in purgatory and will remain there if not much much more is done.

I don’t care a lick about the WNBA. The only women’s basketball I care to watch is their version of march madness during the last week when you have powerhouses like the UT Vols verse the Conn. Huskies.
There’s only so much sports a person can take in. WNBA isn’t on the back burner, it is off the stove.

Jeff gets some good run in the TrueHoop article. Now, if Kevin McHale would read this as the plea that it is and leave Al Jefferson out of the equation, we can proceed.
Glug glug glug…ahhhhhh! Kool-aid.

The Shamrock Headband posted an article titled…The Other point guard…naming names of desirable PGs that the Celtic’s might consider. Some mentioned (like Gary Payton) indicated that the writer has lost his grip on basketball or that he didn’t give “due diligence” in referencing sources for his article.
I was particularly annoyed that he NEVER mentioned Jose Barea as having distinguished himself in SL ( voted SL second team all star PG) and wondered if he even saw much SL action.
I also noted that this was supposed to be a very deep draft year and was surprised that so many late round choices came away from SL with better credentials than those drafted in the lottery.
While no solid conclusions can be drawn from SL performance, it’s apparent that Danny missed badly with the 32nd pick and that if the Celtic’s hope to get better in the future, they need to upgrade their scouting. It is childish and unreasonable to expect Danny to see all the players out there (foreign and domestic) so a cadre of knowledgeable scouts is a must. IMHO, Pruit was drafted more to fill a need than any demonstrated proficiency as a PG.

The 1st of many stories in which we will be haunted by trading away Jeff Green for 3 years of mediocrity featuring Ray Allen.

Thank you for letting me know you enjoy the links. It means a lot to me to know that you do. As for the WNBA link, it was the only baskeball story in the Globe today so I just stuck it in. Sometimes I get frustrated with the lack of coverage by the Boston media. It was not my intention to force feed you WNBA…

Re FlCeltsFan…at least you were providing a credible news outlet rather than “cranking bilious trash to a gullible public” (from the movie…“The Ghost and Mrs. Muir”…)

that NBA.com article about Nate Robinson was a load of crap. It actually said that he had become one of the most popular players in the league. Seriously? I’m pretty sure he is one of the most annoying players in the league because of his obvious shortman syndrome.
