Delayed Reaction
I've seen a lot of reactions to the trade around the web both positive and negative. But most focus on the winning-now aspect of it. Here's one view (by the Association) that strays a bit from that.
I see the C's moving up into the top 4 of the Eastern Conference in 2007-08, but with Doc Rivers at the helm they are a first-round loss. It's 2008-09 that I really see the C's as a dangerous team. Rondo will have a whole year as a starter under his belt, Jefferson will be more polished, the new Big Three will learn how to play together and... if Doc Rivers is fired and replaced by a respectable head Coach, the C's are a serious Eastern Conference contender.

that should make the Doc bashers happy.

I hate to think about it after seeing his act up close&personal but the guy out there that gets thing done ASAP is Larry Brown…if you ever trade AL,you might as well hire Brown the next day…are Rondo,AL&Doc keepers?are PP&Ray healthy and if so what’s thier value come feb/next summer?any young guns step up and surprise???huge year for Danny
The reference to DOC as a bad coach now completes the circle of old topics. Time to focus on something new because a review of old topics is getting “stale”!

smart point. And refreshing. I’m done with this neverending stuff "let’s trade for the next big NAME (superstar, allstar, co-star, borderline star, former allstar…). What about coaching, chemistry, development, as the Association says?
Off topic: so Glyniadakis is going to play the Summer League. Horrible, horrible player, believe me. I couldn’t care less about Glyniadakis who in a week will make Schintzius look like Shaq; but what a waste of time! I can see that Ainge doesn’t have any good info about euro players (and Glyniadakis played some minutes in Seattle, last year).

Unless Big Baby becomes the next Ben Wallace(is he really 6’9"?) this team is going to be one(maybe two) and out in the playoffs. Ainge and Rivers are both offensive oriented – only teams with “shut-em-down” defenses do any real damage in the playoffs.

1) Run the high low between Al Jeff and a passing big man
2) Al Backs opponent into the post and pass out to Ray / Pierce
3) Pick & Roll .. Rondo & Al Jeff..
All plays im sure Doc will fail to even utilise but would be oh so simple.

Playoff teams need playoff coaches. We’re no longer rebuilding and in need of a good PR man. Bring the defense with some players and coaching.

Yes, unless they hire another bad defensive coach and don’t bring in any players willing to play defense.
Paul Pierce and Ray Allen could be coached by Hank Iba himself and neither one would be able to guard Tracy McGrady, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James… the list goes on.
ray allen and paul pierce need the ball to be productive.. now we have two guys who need the ball and we still have AL .. sorry, peopel keep saying playoffs. maybe a top 4 seed..
anybody see what orlando is doing? last time i checked the bulls are pretty good. miami isnt fantastic but who knows what kind of move they will make. Dwade is fantastic.
Cleveland has BRON BRON and a Defense.
Detroit is Detroit. but they will probably drop if they lose billups.
the knicks made a nice move for Randolph ( not sure how much that will help)
EVERYONE IS THE EAST is improving
CHARLOTTE improved a bit if JRICH stays healthy.
is RAY ALLEN THAT MUCH OF A DIFFERENCE MAKER? top 4 SEED?
maybe playoffs. but lets be realistic.

Interesting to read that (in one man’s opinion) the Celtic’s acquired TWO of the possible 6 second round “steals”. What was not entirely clarified was why Gabe Pruit will be a second round steal. He apparently has talent but no real position and, like most rookies, has some flaws in his game. He, like Davis, were projected to go late first round but slid when draft “promises” were not kept.
As for Glen Davis, the likelihood that he could be a steal seems a bit more real if only he can find “healthy” food when the team plays on the road…. He and Powe are both undersized power players who play bigger than their standing height. Summer league will be especially interesting in the paint when these two dominate.
