Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Garnett to the Celtics

According to draftexpress (and other sources) :

Kevin Garnett to the Boston Celtics in a package including Al Jefferson, Gerald Green, Sebastian Telfair, and Theo Ratliff.

www.draftexpress.com

Now the possible starting 5 next season for the Celtics is :

Rondo
Allen
Pierce
Garnett
Perkins

Not bad :-). But where is the bench now ?

Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

No bench
I'm pretty sure opposing teams won't be blown away by Gomes, Scalabrine, Pruitt, Big Baby, a recovering Tony Allen and a couple of random dudes. But that's a playoff team for sure. And it would make the owners a ton of money. Boston fans will fall in love with Garnett. He was on my fantasy squad a few seasons and that was enough. To see him on the real team would be overwhelming. Thanks for the diary and the heads up. Strangely no one is talking about this trade rumor in England.

Gomes
I hear Gomes is involved too, according to Bulpett. That would stink; think of how much more thin the bench would be if you take him out of the equation.

I like Gomes a lot
But understand he is a role player. Eventually his is going to land on a good team and actually play a meaningful nationally televised game. Count on the announcers of that game saying something along the lines of, "Gomes in his 6th year in the league now out of Providence. Has bounced around a bit. Started in Boston. Traded to Minnesota in the infamous KG deal. Finally landed in (insert good team here) where the coaching staff raves about his intangibles. He helps the team compete every night."

Enough is enough, I finally have to admit it. Rondo cannot carry this team to the future.
