Wow - Kevin Garnett to Boston!

File this under developments that I wish happened while I was back in the US. Some quick thoughts:

  1. Welcome to Boston Mr. Garnett.
  2. The Celtics just became a much tougher ticket.
  3. I still can't believe this happened.
  4. Is there anything else on the horizon?
  5. Is Danny Ainge good or lucky? Or is Kevin McHale just that bad?
  6. How many people are going to jump on the Celtics bandwagon now? I say they should jump on Green Bandwagon at the same time.
  7. This is awesome.
  8. I'm going to a pub.
  9. This is the first time that I have used an exclamation point in a post title. Let the ridicule begin...

If ever there was a time
for exclamation points, this is it. Drink a pint for us diehards back home in Boston!

I'm still wary...
...of giving up Jefferson for Garnett because Jefferson is likely to be better than Garnett in just a couple of years, but for the coming season, this is definitely an improvement.

Heck, if we had a competent coach, we might even contend for the NBA title!

Keep in mind...
That Jefferson's biggest asset is that he's younger. While he's a great offensive player he pales in comparison to Garnett as a defensive player. I'm all for it. And I am a huge Al Jefferson fan. I wish him the best and will continue to root for him.
Green Bandwagon: Celtics '08 or bust. Are you on the bandwagon?

Sure, but...
...Garnett is near the end of his prime, while Jefferson hasn't really started his yet. And defense can be taught -- you just wouldn't know it from Doc Rivers.

I reiterate, if we had a decent coach, we could contend for the NBA title this year. With Doc, you can forget it.

Very True
Doc Rivers is the dark cloud in this whole situation. And the worst thing is that the C's instantly became a very attractive team to coach. I'm trying to ignore it but this is one of those issues that won't go away. On the bright side he's definitely out of excuses. Although I wouldn't exactly call that a ringing endorsement.
