The only Celtic player that had a “decent” game was Glen Davis. I was very impressed with Watson, the S.A. PG. He defended Rondo especially well and had a good offensive game as well. He might be a player to watch in the future although I don’t know much about him except that he played in the very tough Italian league.
I was very disappointed in the lack of an offensive system on the part of the Celtics. I realize that these players haven’t played together very long but something besides a weave would be nice. Not too many picks to get guys open shots could have helped but nobody could consistently hit open shots either. GG had a typical sub-impressive game for the star that he’s supposed to become.
AllRed, our center, reminded me of Mark Blount…he kept rushing the perimeter and leaving his man UNCOVERED in the paint. S.A must have scouted us well because (as soon as ALLRED went outside) S.A sent the ball inside very quickly for layups. I can’t believe we’re still using that faulted system to defend the pick and roll!
We were outplayed and once again outcoached.

I was at the game. Not sure if it was on TV or if it will be on TV, tape delayed.
I saw Danny and was actually able to speak with him briefly. I asked him when he thought the other shoe was going to drop. His response was I really don’t know. I am trying every day. It’s a lot harder than you think.
Breaking news, huh!!
Oh well. Davis did have a solid game and is pretty good free throw shooter. Rondo looks awesome on some drives and totally lost on others.
Brandon Wallace was pretty much invisible. A couple nice rebounds, but that’s it. A lot skinnier than I had thought. He will definitely have to hit the weight room.
Powe looked solid. Really hustled. Showed that he is a “vet”. GG baffles me. All he tries to do is take a 3-pointer or somehow dunk the ball over 8 different people. Everyone says he has been training hard over the off-season, I saw the same old GG. Young, inexperienced and just looking to show off.
I don’t think you can say we were outcoached. It’s summer league. It’s vanilla offense and defense. There is no continuity.
The turnovers bother me – especially from Rondo.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – Alan Ray will not make this team. Absolutely awful.
Gerald Green stinks. Sorry GG fans, but he stinks. His trade value decreases every day.
Sorry, but can’t get excited about the B. Wallace signing either. Let’s get real, he doesn’t really help our team.
Still have hopes for Big Baby and Pruitt though.

Nothing like watching the Spurs D-Leaguers defeat our “Core Guys”

It was depressing in the 4th quarter when the TV announcers interviewed one of the Spurs front office guys. He’s cracking jokes about the squad the Spurs had out there and we have 5 – 7 C’s guys who were either on last year’s team or who could make this year’s team. And we still lost.
Danny better pull the trigger on another deal soon.

IMO, GG still doesnt know how to get a shot off a screeen. Once he gets the ball, he goes on high gear trying to do something but he really doesnt know what; He does everything hurriedly and that is when he loses it; he ends up hurrying a shot; whatever it is. I never saw PP nor Wally in such a hurry to do so little. I dont know if the Celtics have someone that can take GG aside and work on developing a smoother rythym(sic) to his game. He has changed nothing from last year. But then , Thats all Ive seen of him. Maybe Im wrong.
Maybe the strategy is to give him the ball out there in the perimeter and have him work out his own shot. Thats why he gets into trouble. Maybe he should be taught to work out without the ball and look to free himself, a la Reggie Miller. GG is pretty good if he has time to get his shot off w/o hurrying it up. The problem is if the rest of the team are going to play with him or just ignore whatever efforts he undertakes to free himself for a free shot. Guess we would need a pretty good PG to work on that, right? Touchee. lolol

The current G.M. of the Spurs was being sarcastic. Based on the low point total of the game.
On a side note he gave some props to Gerald Green.

I think it is safe to say that Gerald is not gifted at the game of basketball. Larry Bird was gifted at the game of basketball. Gerald is gifted at running, jumping, and shooting. He is the product of today’s GM’s obsession with measuring the individual parts and not giving enough attention to their sum, which in Gerald’s case makes for a pretty lousy basketball player. If he were half of what Danny hopes he is he would be dominating out there and getting to the line at will. Instead, he is chucking up ill advised shots and shooting below .400

Jackie Butler would probably start for the Celtics and he won’t be able to get minutes on the Spurs. Need I say any more about the state of the Celtics big man rotation?
Jeff Green looked pretty good for the Sonics tonight. Very poised and a nice touch.
