Better Basketball
There's still time left this summer to work on your jumpshot and fundamentals. Don't forget to check out Better Basketball.
Here's a testimonial from one of the readers of this site (tackdaddy):
The Better Basketball videos are the best basketball training resource that I've ever found. ...if you want to learn skills that will improve your game there is no better resource. I bought them for my point guard daughter and in one season she went from being a decent starter for her school to being a sought-after point for area tournament teams.

Mixing ads into the main content? Not a good sign. I love the Celts but this site is seriously lacking. It’s the only site I’ve ever seen that implores it’s users not to click around too much or too fast.
I’ve learned more about servers than Celtics from this site.
Your blog will not last.

I couldn’t agree more about the cheezy commercial mixed in with the content.
I am more than capable of seeing the advertisments all over the perimeter of the site.
this made me laugh out loud and feel embarrased all at once.

I’m here because I love the Celts and this site does a good job compiling links.
I’m not 100% hating, just the advertisement/content mixture seems to be crossing some sort of line.
I guess I can stand the little plugs at the end of posts regarding radio show sponsors, and the ever-increasing banner ads in the margins (even though they seem to be all non-profits – are they just place holders because there are no real advertisers?).
But content and ads together? That’s a losing proposition for everyone.

I appreciate the critical feedback and it is noted. I will however submit that if you don’t like server notices on a site this big, then you are going to have to learn to live with advertising in some form.
This is the summer and we’re trying out some new stuff. Not all of it is going to be here forever. Please have some patience. Thanks.
I wholeheartedly agree with you about the ads mixed with content, Eric, but the way you stated your opinion was unfriendly to say the least.
Jeff, you have way too much class. I would have banned his * on the spot.

I think I agree with the people who aren’t in favor of the ad. I will say that it’s an interesting idea, it made me laugh a bit. I think if you got BB to offer say, 5-10% off for celticsblog.com members it might stick. Then it’d be win-win for everyone ;)
oh and btw, was that a real confessional?
I guess overall it wins cause it was funny. :D

To be honest, for all I care, Jeff can advertise what he wants, how he wants. This sure beats spending an hour of my day, every day, searching out stories about the Celtics from various sites all over the place…which is what we all used to do back when we were loafing on Boston.com’s Celtics chats. Thanks Jeff and team. Keep up the great work!

My gut reaction was to denounce the integration of this particular form of advertising. The way this one was laid out, it looks like a regular blog article, and that sort of blurring of the line is a cause for concern.
But then when I really thought about it, I realized that the advertising is a necessary evil here, moreso than commercial sites (like ESPN) because sites as popular as this can’t be run for free. And people like Jeff and Bob are already donating much of their time; they can’t be expected to donate their money as well.
And as far as necessary evils go, this isn’t all that evil anyway—it’s an ad for a basketball-related product. Not that huge of a leap of faith. Now, if we start seeing ads for Camel cigarettes here, that’s when the red flag goes up. But I don’t see that happening.
Hi Eric, I’m a long ago friend from the Bay Area. Hope you are doing well. Angela
