I happened to watch the series against the Lakers where Hudson earned his contract—he was really very good, too quick for the Lakers, spectacular at times -the next season he had some serious injuries and since then he has been injury prone and unreliable, dismal-if he is a friend of KG, motivated by the opportunity, inexpensive why not include him in the hope?
T-Hud?!? As in “Thud”?!? As in the sound his album made when it hit the bottom of the charts?!?
We need Mt. Mutombo!

BWA HAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I’m from Minnesota. Hudson is GODAWFUL!!! Wowowowowowowowowowow I can’t believe you guys are gonna sign him. That is TERRIBLE news. Seriously, he’s so craptastic. Hudson is to us what Blount was to you guys. I think 99% of the fans in Minnesota would personally escort him to Boston. Wow, I’m shocked. Enjoy him.

ok now we are talking. now it makes sense with the house signing. house is obviously not brought in here to be the backup pg like i’ve been saying in the forums !!

I like it. Hudson is a scoring type back up PG, he’s quick, he can shoot, can play enough D. We needed a scroing PG to change it up when teams play zone against us and sag on Rondo. They cover up each others deficiencies well. I dont really see a better scoring PG out there, Brevin Knight was not the answer. No one wants a guy from Stanford on their team.
People who were saying House was gonna play back up PG have never watched him play before obviously.
no no no no no no no X 1000. I hope these sources are full of it. Hudson is a horrible player. Danny needs to look to Europe for help.

Here are some positives:
-He’s more of a PG than House, and provides a legitimate backup at that position when Rondo goes to the bench (he did average 5.7 assists one season).
-He is very quick and would provide a spark coming in off the bench.
-He’s a good scoring PG, and can knock down both perimeter shots and free throws.
-He’s a veteran that has played in big games, including the playoffs (something Rondo obviously hasn’t yet).
He isn’t godawful defensively.
The quality of this signing depends not only on the money and years, but on his health as well. IF he can stay healthy, then this could turn out to be a really good signing. It also allows House to come into games and just worry about doing the one thing he can do well: shoot.

Yucky Ducky is right. Could be Danny’s worst FA signing yet. Please no.

Well, Hudson isn’t spectacular, but if we sign him for the minimum is there much risk invovled? I mean couldn’t we just cut him and pick up some scrub later on if he doesn’t work out? Also, it’s amazing how much better guys play on one year deals for the minimum than when they have five year contracts for $30M . Right now, I’d say the bench needs shooters/scorers more than anything, so this would be all right with me.
Hudson won’t ever play whether we sign him or not. He is always hurt.
With House, we now have 3 pgs. Our backcourt is set.
I don’t know about you guys, but I’m not trying to buy into all the anti-Rondo crap that the talking heads are selling right now. Rajon will be just fine with the lion’s share of the pg minutes.
I’m tired of this “you comment is too short” crap.

I wouldn’t mind signing Thud. The one thing the Denver Nuggets have proven over the past two seasons is you can have lots of talent and play pretty good defense, but you still need people who can shoot the ball. We signed House, but that still means Gabe Pruit is probably the 5th best outside shooter on the Cs.
I’m more concerned about the point than I am center. Luc Longley averaged 6.6 pts and 6 rebs in his 4th season in the league. The folks calling Perk a career back-up are forgetting just how mediocre most NBA centers really are.
Mike
My name is Thud
I am a Dud
I like to chew Cud
I play in Mud
Thank you Troy Hudson for the day’s entertainment.

Has anyone ever seen Eddie House bring the ball up the floor??? I know in the many games I have seen him play I have never seen him bring it up. If you think he is the backup PG you are mistaken. He is bench scroing until Tony gets back and Tony is better suited to play as a defensive stopper anyway.
With House, do we really need T-Dud?:
Considering they play different positions, then maybe.
With House, we now have 3 pgs. Our backcourt is set."
House isn’t a PG. He’s a specialist that will do one thing well when he’s inserted into games: shoot. He should also get a lot of open looks when playing with Pierce/Allen/Garnett.
Rajon will be just fine with the lion’s share of the pg minutes."
Exactly. He will get the bulk of the minutes at the point, but he can’t play 40 minutes a night every game of the season. When healthy, Hudson is a guy who can provide a spark off the bench with his quickness and energy, and can provide some more offense to a second unit that is otherwise currently lacking.
I don’t understand the problem with adding multiple veterans who have played in big games for short money and years. If they stay healthy and perform their respective roles, they will be good signings, If not, they will be cut.

I’m attending the Celtics open try-outs so don’t be surprised if you see Scalabrine and I playing POGS at the end of the bench next year
by whales on Aug 2, 2007 1:12 PM EDT reply actions
Hudson certainly has his detractors but he might be a decent pick-up, better than House who can’t play the point and can’t defend. And I’m not sold on Rondo getting the lion’s share of the minutes. He’s still way too inexperienced for the type of team the Celtics are building where his mistakes will be costly. Then you have his outside shot or lack thereof. If Hudson works out, it wouldn’t surprise me to see him take at least half the point guard minutes at some point during the season.

OH come on guys, Hudson’s not so bad. I admit he definitely fell off after that big year he had (i forget exactly when it was) but I remember him being pretty good offensively. Not a pass first point guard, but don’t we already have one of those? This guy is also a shooter despite the story last years stats may tell. He’s a great ball handler, at least, something house is not. He is a vet who knows Garnett’s game well, and will allow House to do what he does best, which is jack up shots when people are resting.
I wouldn’t mind Hudson but his cd is ridiculous.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA You guys think Hudson can play defense?!?!
Think again… you are BADLY mistaken. He (and Mike James) were BY FAR the worst two defenders on our team last year. You will rue the day you sign Troy Hudson. I’m completely serious. He is absolute garbage.
Go ahead and keep deluding yourselves into thinking he’ll be a good pickup though, I enjoy reading the comments!!!

I think this was ols from the other day, when it was assumed that he’s friends with KG, so some of the cash considerations was to free him.
The House call seems to negate this happening.

With PP,RA and KG, we don´t need to sign a distributor like Brevin Knight. I think we need good scoring and defender players, House and Hudson can provide this scoring coming to the bench. It would be fantastic add to the roster a player like PJ o Mutombo, and finally try to get barnes or udoka.

I’ve been trying to drink the Kool Aid since the trade, but I just noticed a giant turd named Troy Hudson in my glass.
The one “positive” people are spouting is his scoring. Hey, the guy is a career 40% shooter—and that’s been going DOWN for years. If you didn’t like Antoine’s 38, how are you going to feel about Hudson’s 36.
He sucks.
Just reading other writers talking about the trade… it’s unbelievable to me how many writers and commentators have a dislike for the Celtics still…. unbelievable
I just happened to go to a Fox survey and many believe the Celtics will get bounced in the first round of the playoffs.
———————————————
Rivers is still your coach, Red….They may not be far off.
No to Hudson.
Who gives a shit.
This team is at worst bounced in the Eastern Conference semi-finals, will probably play in the conference finals, and have a good shot at making the NBA finals.

If we sign Hudson to the minimum and he contributes mightly as a bench player, which secures #17, I will personally go out and buy 78 copies of his crappy CD.
by docextension on Aug 2, 2007 6:09 PM EDT reply actions
House is not a point guard. I’ve watched him play too many games for Phoenix and the Nets to think otherwise. Whether Hudson or someone else, Ainge still needs to sign a guy to divvy up the minutes with Rondo.
