Bowling For Reggie

The AP has an update on Reggie Miller - here are some quotes:

"I'm in shape to bowl," Miller joked. "But I don't even know what I'm going to do."

"I think I'll let my body and the people I've called and talked to, help me make that decision," he said. "It will all come together."

Miller isn't saying, but former Pacers teammate Rik Smits believes there's a 65 percent chance Miller suits up this season.

"I think if his body holds up after a month or so of practice to get ready for training camp, I think he can do it," Smits said. "Part of it's mind-set, part of it's physical. He'd be a guy who could do it and probably still be able to contribute."

Well it’s good to hear this. I think Reggie is going to be a Celtic soon!

Anyone else think 65% is sort of random? why not 50 or 75? How did he arrive at 65?

If I were a betting man, I would say Reggie joins the Cs… There are so many reasons why he should join, and basically only one reason he shouldnt (his body/ health).

Smits is Dutch. And you know how THOSE people are…
The state of our bench is so woefully pathetic that I love the idea of the Celtics A) Taking on a former hated enemy and B) Becoming the Over the Hill Gang of the new millennium. (Remember the Redskins!)
C’mon, Reggie. Shake the cobwebs off.
Sheesh, it’s come to this…

I think 65 is perfectly reasonable its just below 2/3’s and is 13/20. Better than half but not enough to depend on.

Miller sure likes to about his “body” in a very objective manner. Kind of weird.

At this point Reggie is working out and giving it serious consideration.

At this time, I think that’s about as much as you can ask.

Big_Easy,
A slam against the Dutch — I love it.

Well Big Easy how are THOSE people? Share your knowledge about the Dutch with us!

reggie sounds sensible about his regimen. if he signs up, he can be very useful, but it would be very dangerous to become dependent on him and expect too much. i remember when magic came back. he was good but not as good as he was and people were more disappointed as too much was on him.

The whole thing is becoming a PR circus. Maybe he should just stick to bowling.

I realize it’s Reggie and all, but they could be shooting themselves in the foot here.

Like maybe they’ll miss out on another because they’re holding out for Miller.

Which isn’t guaranteed to begin with.

The Dutch remind me of the Canadians. They’re like us, but different, and therefore should be viewed with suspicion and properly channeled xenophobia…

by Big_Easy on Aug 22, 2007 6:59 AM EDT reply actions

Who are they missing out on mcpu40? I don’t see anyone else out there really worth jumping out and grabbing. That’s why they are contemplating him in the first place. Do we even have any pieces left for a trade? I don’t think there are any great free agents out there…

KevinConner,
Not to speak for Big Easy, but I’m pretty sure it was a joke. Unfortunately, jokes become a lot less funny when you have to explain that you’re joking.

mcpu,
You can’t be serious about Ruben Patterson. The guy is a dog fighting scandal waiting to happen.

He asked.
The Reggie thing could be a potentially DISTRACTING circus.
Could be mistake.
