Big Men Working Out For C's
Former Celtic Eric Williams, journeymen big men Kelvin Cato and Linton Johnson, and Esteban Batista, the first Uruguayan to ever play in the NBA, all worked out for the Celtics yesterday.
All are expected to continue their workouts today, with coach Doc Rivers and his staff expected to invite at least one and quite possibly two to training camp.
A team source stressed last night that none of these players have been offered guaranteed contracts, though Batista is reportedly demanding exactly that in exchange for a training camp invitation.

I wouldnt mind seeing Cato or Batista here. Cato might be able to provide some decent third string minutes. He’s always been a good defender with a big defensive body, never been super but he could throw out some fouls for a few minutes a game.

give batista a garunteed contract. I watched him in the FIBA tounament and the guy was a BEAST. If we sign him I garuntee he will move past Pollard as the backup C within 2 months. Sign Batista Danny, he is the only one on that list that can greatly improve and could be the steal of this off-season.
I second the other thoughts. Sign Batista. Eric Williams would be nice for sentimental reasons, but I seriously doubt he can still play. Let him be an assistant coach or something.

Warning signs are up.
Pollard may not be able to play because of his back.

Sign Esteban Batista.
Scored 20 against the US, shot 9 for 14.
6-10 270 guy who can play Center minutes and bang.
Averaged 2.5 rebounds in 8.7 minutes in 57 games last year in the NBA.
Only just turned 24 can already bang.

Cato would seem to be the logical choice as insurance if he is healthy and in shape. The last time he played in the league he was coming back off an injury and not in shape…..and looked horrible. There has to be a place in this league for Linton Johnson who isn’t that bad of a player…..i don’t see that place being Boston though as we are looking for veterans to round out the roster.

Eric Williams: good! We need some more veterans with playoff experience. Drop Manuel and pick him!
Kelvin Cato: good! Good defender and good piece for playoffs We need that kind of player on the bench! Drop Bandon Wallace and keep him!
Batista: average! Maybe a good player but only a project. However, i prefer him that pollard!
Linton JOhnson: good! But how many places can we generate? :D
It’s Cato or Batista, clearly. If it’s a one year contract we’re talking about, I would take Cato. By the way, where do you have that workout pic from, Jeff?

Have you people ever seen Kelvin Cato play? Especially in the last couple of years, when he’s looked like a wounded bird on the court? Seriously.
I can’t understand how the same fans who constantly moan about Scal would be clamoring to get Kelvin Cato. Scal has better skills and is younger and healthier. You’re not making any sense.
