Cheers! Here’s to hoping he has a Gomes like rookie season and Doc doesn’t wait until the later part of the year to start given him some quality minutes.
The sooner this team gets on the court and begins to mesh, the less this chemistry issue will be a concern.

Here’s hoping that he shows some improvement to the coaching staff in regards to his weight and endurance, and then earns some playing time at the first of the year. Just because someone is hustling, it doesn’t mean they are better right now for the team. He would have to dramatically improve to take minutes away from Powe at the first of the year. Hopefully he will work so hard and look so good that is in question.
I feel Big Baby will be the sleeper pick of the 2nd round this year, I think he can even dislodge Scott Pollard as the backup C to Perk….watch out!!

EJPLAYA, I agree with you, if Davis’s weight and endurance are a detriment to the team, then quality minutes may not be coming his way.
I think he has shown some Gomes like potential right now up to this point as a Celtic. If he can outplay Powe, Pollard type guys in practice and contribute in games, then I don’t care if he looks like Fat Albert. I just don’t want the “rookie” tag to be the excuse to say he hasn’t earned the minutes and I think that’s been done in the past with some of our guys and Doc, especially with Gomes and his back up minutes to the like of Scal.
This is too important of a season to play those type of rookie head games with players. Again if his weight, endurance or rookie mistakes are hurting us, then he needs to be benched.

I think you’re right about the weight with Davis. I don’t really care too much as long as he is productive. The tough part is we really don’t know how Gomes looked in practices for the first part of the year. It’s possible that due to his experience Scal was outplaying him, or at least it was even and so Doc went with the experience. If Powe and Davis (or Pollard even) are a wash, I expect that the other two will get the time. Experience does matter in this league. In fact, there are a lot of younger, more athletic players down at the gym that I run with that I can sure make look foolish due to experience. Let’s just hope that we see some of both from these younger guys!
He doesnt have to shoot. He can play center against the oppositions backups and get rebounds. A big fat arse really helps on rebounds :).

Big baby is an undersized power forward in this league. I certainly hope we’re not using him as a back-up center
