Tom Thibodeau was signed with one thought in mind…to transform the Celtic’s into a championship calibre team by revamping the defense. As was the suspected impetus for the Posey signing, I wonder whether Tom Thibodeau was also instrumental in getting Manuel signed?

I presume that the Brandon Wallace signing was the work of both Doc and Danny, both recognizing our need for size and defense at the 2 and 3 positions. KG seemed to be the ideal FIXTURE at PF and help defense with Perk patroling the paint.

But why Manuel when Rondo’s strong suit is defense? On the other hand Manuel supposedly can guard both the 1 and 2 positions and onverlapping defensive strength can’t hurt.

I suspect that Wallace, a college 5 could back-up Perk in an emergency as well as provide insurance at the 4. Sounds like much is being taken for granted in that both Manuel amd Wallace must still show that they BELONG before we get too excited about their hypothetical contributions to the 2007-8 Celtics.

While Pruit’s defensive hype has been often discussed, it remains questionable whether he can transform a college skill into an NBA strength. His SL performance wasn’t especially remarkable but his three year contract either represents another Danny miscalculation or another hidden nugget.
