Pierce & Q Ejected, Celtics Win
NEW YORK (AP) -- Boston's Paul Pierce and New York forward Quentin Richardson were ejected Monday after each picked up two technical fouls while jawing with each other during the third quarter.
The small forwards were talking for much of the period and were hit with double technicals with 3:07 remaining. The conversation started up again barely a minute later in front of referee Olandis Poole, who called the second technicals and immediately tossed both with 1:57 left.
An angry Richardson shouted back at Pierce for much of his walk to the tunnel.
Pierce finished with 10 points. Richardson was scoreless in 12 minutes.
Update: This win clinches the fact that Doc Rivers will coach the All Star game (an honor given to the coach with the best record at the break)

Pierce was stupid, he just can’t resist that back and forth even with lesser players. Doc even told him to settle it down, that should have been the clue to end it.
Not that I was worried and not that the refs were right, but keeping emotions under control can play a big part of who moves on in a close playoff series and who goes home.
doc coached a good game. i agree with him 100% abot it was the c’s bad to get mouthy. i also liked how he got leon and bbd into the same game-it’s about time. it was good to see perk finally getting a little bit quicker on the draw and he certainly got rewarded. ray a as the point was good enough and kg took over the game. i haven’t seen 13 boards from him in a while. of course he had to maneuver between 2 whales for the ball. the knicks tried hard but they are poorly constructed to put it charitably.
Playing Powe more minutes = happy face
Playing Allen 43 minutes in a blowout = sad face. Still can’t figure out his infatuation with INSISTING Allen be on the floor with the second unit most of the time. I know Pierce getting ejected has some effect on the minutes, but why play TA, Ray, and House at the same time for much of the 4th? Why not put Rondo in with TA and House, or if Doc is still concerned with Rondo’s injury, how about Pruitt? Allen could have been yanked much earlier.

Allen could have been yanked much earlier and I wanted to see Pruitt play. Tony Allen is an accident waiting to happen….

missed the game. (can’t pass up free lift tickets, even at 14 degrees Fahrenheit) what in the world got into perk today.
his game has picked up a bit lately but 24 points on 9 for 11? did he somehow miraculously “get it” and stop that useless gatherdribble. not likely
not likely he repeats that performance again this season but hats off to the big fella.
Q and Pierce have been at each other for as long as I remember. I think it started when Q was with the Clippers (maybe some summer L.A. dispute?), but it at least started before he joined the Knicks.
I remember it being obvious when the Celtics beat the Suns one game in Phoenix when Richardson was with them. Pierce hit clutch free throws and did the head fisting thing that Darius Miles and Richardson used to do everytime they scored (hilarious, btw). D’Antoni and Richardson were really ticked. I think D’Antoni called Pierce a “punk” after that game.
Either way, Pierce needs to avoid silly ejections.
Trash talk is fine. Not being able to stop jawing after getting a T and being told by coach to tone it down is letting your ego get in the way of what’s best for the team.
Pierce is signaled out because he should know better by now considering his history, similar on court behavior got him in trouble the last time he was in the playoffs. Reputation goes a long way in this league.
