No KG, No Win

Hedo's lucky shot spoiled a great game by Rondo. Oh well.

Rondo owning Howard in the post was about the greatest moment of this Celtics season. Sweet, sweet justice for that elbow throwing Jesus freak.
Now.. this is the first game where Doc seriously needs to criticized.. hard. Under no circumstances should Big Baby get no burn while Scal plays 22 minutes with zero production. Check out this sweet stat line:

Also in dubai: Forget about howard, forget about no kg, forget about the 3rd quarter them being home and all that crap.. This just really hurts and the only cure will be to beat miami and more improtantly dallas. When we lost to detriot at home i told myself that i’d put it behind me if we beat them at the palace and we did. Today was a dagger pure and simple, espcially cuz he missed his last 4 three’s. Wasn’t supposed to go down this way
No no no…if Howard had actually hit Rondo——Rondo would have been given a technical….or there would have been double technicals called….these refs killed us with a lot of NO Calls today…Hedo traveled and palmed the ball all game-and he pushed off on Pierce for a few of his shots.

Yeah Rondo would have missed some games for hitting Howard’s fist with his head.

MCPU40, you are kidding when you say this team is not that good, right?
As for Doc playing Scalabrine, I absolutely do not get it. Maybe he wanted Scal’s stellar defensive skills on Hedo. Tough loss, but to be in it to the end without KG is huge. As for Ray, he hit some big shots, but man is he off in general.
I also do not get how nothing was called on Howard when he viciously swung the elbow at Rondo. That was an embarrassment and I am glad the announcers called them out on it.
Great try by the Celtics, Pierce, Rondo, Powe and Posey had good games. The highlight of Ray at half time showed him shooting a 3 pointer in Seattle. His shot looked like it had more of an arc to it and he was relaxed and not shooting as quickly. Maybe I am way off but it looked a little different. Also Pierce played good D but Turkoglo had such a height advantage we needed Posey on him. TA on Lewis they would have had the height advantage with this matchup but TA would have denied him the ball and taken away his dribble.
Everyone’s forgetting that Scal started the game matched up with Lewis and played some pretty good D on him. Sure he didn’t fill up the stat line but there’s no way he was as bad as everyone is making his outing out to be. I was pleasantly surprised with how well he controlled Lewis.

Must be international blog night. I’m in Chile and my son pointed me to a web site called channelsurfing.net. Should get whole Dallas game streaming on laptop. Pretty amazing! Don’t know how long it has been available. Didn’t have video today but had Max and Grande on audio. They made it sound like Scalabrine did a good job on Lewis and Powe was very good. They never mentioned “Where’s Big Baby” though. That was good old fashioned fun listening to the 4th Qtr. Orlando is good so not a bad loss without KG. I sure was wrong about JJ Reddick. He’s somewhere below erald Green I guess.
I agree with “YouveBeenPierced”. I thought scal played good defense too. Not only did Howard take a cheap shot at Rondo, but i’m really mad no one stood up for Rondo. I’m not saying fight or get a stupid tech, but atleast have something to say to Howard about that b.s. Everybody keep saying Ray Allen shot is off. I would prefer him missing jumps shots over anyone else on the team, maybe except for pierce. He some how always find a way to make them in the clutch though.

I agree Scottish…sometimes I don’t see what you see ;D. But I unequivocally agree this time. The officiating today was crap. Powe was getting mugged and nothing. How did Keyon Dooling get an and 1 when nobody even breathed on him? Lot of Ray bashing around here. Ray had a “bad” game and still had 17 points, and as I said Ray shows up in the clutch 9 times out of 10 and he did again. PP didn’t hesistate to pass to him in the corner so that shows you the belief his teammates have in him why can’t the fans have a little faith? we need some perspective around here. Ray shot 38% 7-18, comparative Rondo shot 6-16 which is 37.5 percent. My point Ray is playing bad for RA, per se, and we know and we expect more and should, but he is still helping this team. Is there someone on the team you want taking a clutch shot more. He’s working harder on defense than he ever has and he’s gone from option 1 to 3 and see people comparing him to Wally Szerbiak? seriously…? All of the 3-party have had their share of off games, RA is the whipping boy why? This team has played half a season together and is plugging holes in the frontcourt and at backup PG, lets give them some time to figure it out. I’m proud of this team, and if there’s such a thing as a good loss, (like Friday was a bad win) this was it.

“Are you kidding me! You inserted two asterisks on JJ Redd**k’s name. Turn down the controls. No evangelicals please.” – Wildblue
I understand your concern about taking things too far, but please do not make fun of someone’s religion or religious beliefs. Can you imagine saying, “No Jews or No Muslims please” on this board?

This is generally a well-educated bunch but i do not understand the criticism of Rivers playing Scal over Davis. Scal was in the game to match up defensively with Rashard Lewis and he put the clamps on him. Davis on Lewis is a complete mismatch. Doc coached this game brilliantly with TO’s in all the right spots. Orlando needed a 25-footer at the buzzer to beat us on their home court without Garnett. Nothing to be embarassed about there.

TonyAllenislownshoes (Interesting Name) you’re right..as is sexy ..but if you think we got burned.. “King James” fouls Kobe and causes a turnover to hand the “chosen” to yet another win..I really had hope there was a way that both could lose..but since that wasn’t possible, a fairly well called game would have been nice… hopefully somebody in the league office will fix this problem…or at least pretend to do something..anything…

Why wasn’t Posey on Turkgolu? If he can guard Wade with the game on the line he can guard Hedo. The refs don’t seem to respect Powe. He gets hammered and gets very few calls. He is a little better than Davis getting O rebounds, but Davis finishes much better. The Ray Allen bashers need to relax. He will be fine. Scal is the 10th player on a good team. Period.

Davis has been in the doghouse ever since his 16-point 4th quarter against Detroit. Expect Powe to join him there soon.

Good game by the C’s overall. I sure hope Ray works his way out of this slump. That 3 at the end was huge though…
As for the fouls… That swipe at Rondo under the hoop? Flagrant. No play on the ball, man is knocked to the ground. How is that not a flagrant foul?! Or not a foul AT ALL?! Unreal.
But you can’t be in a position to let the refs dictate the game. I liked that the C’s battled back on the road, but you can’t let lousy officiating take you out of the game.
