KG Out Tonight Against Mavs
Marc Spears Reports on Boston.com
The Celtics will be without the services of forward Kevin Garnett, who will miss his third straight game tonight against the Dallas Mavericks because of an abdominal strain.
Celtics coach Doc Rivers says he didn't know when Garnett will return to the court. When asked if he would play Tuesday in Cleveland, Rivers said he didn't know.
This is kind of unfortunate since there are only so many of these "barometer" games in a season. I was looking forward to the Dirk/KG match-up, but it obviously doesn't make any sense to risk Garnett's health on a regular season game. It appears Ray Allen will be back in the line-up though and the bench has played well as of late so there's hope.

maybe if we are lucky that Kidd trade will go down and Devin Harris will be out

“Celtics coach Doc Rivers says he didn’t know when Garnett will return to the court.”
I know this is way off topic, but Marc Spears and his editor need to invest in a grammar book. “Says he didn’t?” Can’t the Globe afford proofreaders?

I love Marc, but Bulpett was a little less definitive in his blog posting.
I could see KG playing tonight.

If we can come away with a W tonight that will be a huge win for our confidence

I’d like to see the KG/Dirk matchup as well but with an abdominal injury there’s no need to risk it. Now for the love of god Doc put Powe on Dirk not Scal.

We’ve seen KG & Dirk matchup before.
If we don’t see it tonight it’ll be a steep hill to climb.
Like everyone is saying, it’d be an amazing win if they can pull it out.

they need to be careful with kg. this is one of the great benefits of jumping out to an early lead. look at the redsox near the end of the season. they let their hurt get better. in this way, doc is learning fromm francona, danny from theo.

I’m predicting a blowout Celtics victory, so long as the coaches can figure out how to exploit the Scalabrine-Nowitzki matchup. No one can stop Scalabrine. The Mavs can only hope to contain him.

prov1ml34, you forgot to mention how many technicals? OK, makes sense, Scal never gets a technical foul!

With any luck, Posey will start instead of Veal. C’s need a more athletic player to put against Dirk whereas they needed more of a power player against Haslem (such as Powe or BBD). Not that Veal fits either of those roles but Doc will probably start him anyway. Probably thinking, “hmmm, how can I save my quality guys until it’s too late to matter—I know! Scal, you’re starting.”

Yeah, That starting Scal thing worked so terribly the other night against Miami… He only played 17 minutes and had 5 boards and played hard defense and set good picks. Posey ended up with 26 minutes, so it didn’t really matter who started. There is wisdom in giving a hard working player like him a few minutes and some honor starting a game so that if we get a few injuries he isn’t completely void of confidence. Like it or not Scal is a solid perimeter defender and works his tail off while he is out there. He has taken only 3 shots in the 39 minutes that he played over the past 2 games. All he does on offense is hustle to set picks and run the play. He definitely shouldn’t get many minutes on this squad with KG healthy, in fact maybe none at all, but I sure would rather have Posey anchoring the second unit than Scal. The reason BB doesn’t get those minutes is because he is an absolute AWFUL perimeter defender right now. In fact, his post defense really isn’t that hot either…(see 6 fouls in 23 minutes against Miami)
Before you go off on how I just love Scal, I once again repeat. Scal shouldn’t be getting any minutes at all on a healthy current roster. He is 100% for sure the 12th man on this squad.

SCALI, SCALI, SCALI!!!!!!we want ScaL…tonight will be his breakout game, headline tom, Scalabrine leads C’s past Mavs..plays like man possessed and does a Larry Bird impression….Way to go Scal…( Ofcourse in Bizzaro’s world, all these would be very likely to happen)

Too bad about KG. Hopefully he’s back for the Cleveland game.

If KG does not play, will he sit in the locker room again and scowl, watch the game from home or sit on the bench and cheer on his mates?
