Ainge Not Interested in Gary Payton
Aaron Goodwin, the agent for Gary Payton, met with Boston GM Danny Ainge on the Celtics’ recent West Coast trip, trying to sell him on bringing back the Glove to back up Rajon Rondo, a source said.
No, Ainge isn’t going there.

I hope Ainge is looking somewhere for back-up point, everytime Tony Allen brings the ball up court it is an adventure.

GP is too old and he’d be a bad influence on this team with all his smack talking….. If you’re going to smack talk, you better back it up and at his age I don’t think he could back it up.

Yeah, they should give Pruitt some minutes….. from what I’ve seen so far this year and when he was in the NBDL, kid knows how to play….. we might have our backup point guard already on this roster and don’t even know about it.

The fact is we have no idea what was said or discussed. As I read it, this was simply someone quoting someone else who was reporting the inclination of yet a third person “source” who said something based on alleged first or perhaps second person information.
here’s the link. it’s on the small column inside the aritcle.

it definitely sounds like just speculation, judging from the rest of the stories.
When the trades were made this summer some, the people opposed to the trade said we were trading our future for the present. Some agreed at the time some didn’t. Well we now have now and some people, rightly so, say we need to keep our eye on the future. Rondo and BBD are now the future in place. Rondo needs to remain the starter. Payton will not accept a backup role and our current backups are getting the job done, despite the fact that TA sometimes gets out of control. As much as some would like us to be a running team we are not. We’re a half court team and the half court offense is controlled by KG and PP. I like what we have now. Any change would need to be an upgrade. If the right thing comes along at the right price and we can make a deal or sign someone I think Danny would do it. He won’t make a deal that won’t improve the team and the emphasis is on the now.

I feel the same way. Hopefully Ainge agrees with the source’s assessment.
Rondo and BBD are now the future in place.
Let’s hope this isn’t the future of the Celtics. Both those guys are rotation players or borderline starters.
