Preseason Is Over
Celtics handle the Knicks in the last game of preseason.
Eddie House led the Celtics with 20 points. Leon Powe added 19 points and 12 rebounds as Boston's big men overwhelmed an undersized New York lineup.
The Celtics finished 6-2 in the preseason and are now off until hosting Cleveland next Tuesday night in the NBA opener, when they will raise the banner celebrating their 17th NBA championship and receive the rings they earned for beating the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA finals.

1. Everyone’s healthy, always a good way to start the season. (Rondo will be fine in a week)
2. Team doesn’t lose too much with Pruitt starting over Rondo. Sure, he doesn’t penetrate as well as Rondo or deflect as many balls, but Rondo is no where near the 3 point threat that Pruitt is.
3. I take it back, Tony Allen won’t be our best player off the bench. Eddie House will be. He has pretty much sewn up the right to make that claim going into the regular season. The guy is just so incredibly confident, and has brought his defense to a legitimate level.
4. Tony Allen was out of sync, and therefore just could not get going. He let it get to his head, as witnessed by those two awful free throw attempts in the 4th.
5. Leon Powe is a stud, especially against smaller line-ups. You pretty much know he is taking it to the hole, and you pretty much can’t stop him.
6. O’Bryant, despite missing alot and getting nit-picked on those 3 second violations, showed alot of energy. Seems like he has a chance to be a decent back up if he gets stronger. Doc really made a point of making sure his teammates got him involved on offense.
7. I’m ready for the regular season!!!

It was Powe’s night. He abused David Lee.

i agree footey with #1 which is #1- they are healthy. also about pruitt-wow – he is the surprise of the preseason- he is a point guard and he plays d and shows poise. the point looks good for a long time and one more time- pruitt is our new gerald henderson. pob stunk tonite- flat out, and tony is too much up and down. get consistent and get your head in every play.

“and receive the rings they earned for beating the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA finals.” I like the sound of that.

It’s a marvel the Celtics have second-round draft picks like Powe coming off the bench. But then you look over at Garnett and the other starters, and you’re lost for words.

It’s funny that they say that we overwhelmed their undersized lineup with our big men. Quite a lot of the damage was done when Powe and Davis were working against Lee and Randolph, which is a definite size advantage to NY.

So last year’s rookies—Baby and Pruitt—have made it into the regular rotation. Don’t be surprised if the same happens next year with Walker and Giddens. Their one other pickup—POB—is a young 7-footer who looks like he’s coming on this year as well.
Danny’s operating a friggin’ machine.
